Do you have a relationship like this in your life right now? Makes you think… Quick throwback to 2001... When a famous-but-not-nearly-as-famous-as-he-is-now actor couldn’t even get a job. Sure, these days Robert Downey Jr, AKA Iron Man, is worth a cool $300 mill. But back then, his career was a very different story. In fact, he couldn’t get a single filmmaker to hire him. Because his arrests had made his liability insurance too pricey. And that might have been the end of his career, if it hadn’t been for one person. The one guy willing to bet on him when the rest of the world wouldn’t. By personally underwriting his liability insurance so he could get a job and get his career back on track. (Now that’s a good friend. It was Mel Gibson, btw. Not super relevant here but in case you’re curious.) The rest, as they say, is history. Goes to show… Money and success are great and all, but it comes and goes. What’s infinitely more valuable—and more rare—are the relationships you can depend on. And in an online space, no relationship is more important than the one you have with the people on your email list. Yes, everyone talks about how important your email list is for making sales. Well, duh. But there’s also a lot more to it than that. With your own email list… >> You’re literally creating your own world…of people who get you, and who are in fact, here just for YOU. That’s the kind of influence world leaders can only fantasize about. >> It’s the one thing you’re in complete control of. Because when you send out an email, you know it’s going to get read by so many people, and you get to share whatever YOU want. Whether that’s your opinion on a hot issue, a story you want to tell, or something you want to sell. It’s up to you—that’s the point. >> You get to create and monetize whatever you want. That’s literally why the people on your email list are on there. They WANT your point of view. And assuming you know how to do some basic marketing and sales, there’s literally nothing else on Earth that lets you make money with as much freedom and control. >> If you crave connection, and people who get you, there’s no deeper connection than the type you create with your email subscribers. I have people who’ve been on my list for over seven years, reading my daily weekday emails, my thoughts, my opinions, my personal stories. Not to be cliche, but there’s no better way to create your own “ride or die’s” >> You are the automatic leader. You don’t have to wait for anyone to “promote” you to the spot. And it doesn’t matter if you weren’t born into wealth and influence. This is the only way I know of to be granted almost automatic leadership, where what you say, goes. No silly politics, “earning your stripes,” or “this is just the way it is BS.” >> Plus, that feeling you get of “oh snap, this works”—when you send out an email and see responses, sign-ups, sales, or whatever action you’re asking for? There’s nothing like it. To know you’re in complete control—changing lives and making a difference, and can do it while getting paid to say and do and create whatever you want. While letting it be as simple as sending an email. So yes, your email list will help you make lots of sales. But frankly, that’s just the beginning.
