I was SO embarrassed! Literally, a few hundred thousand people saw me make this mistake⦠{NAME}, A while back, I was on my daily walk with Falco when a woman stopped me with a camera in her hand. âCould I ask you a few questions about your outfit and record it?â Turns out she was a fashion Youtuber recording what New Yorkers like to wear. âWhereâd you get your hat?â From one of the street vendors. So warm. And only $30! âWhat about your coat?â Mackage. âYour bag?â YSL. âAnd your shoes?â APL. Iâm not going to share that video because hereâs the kicker⦠Apparently, Iâve been pronouncing âMackageâ wrong my whole life. Iâve been calling it mac-age, the way it looks. When itâs actually Ma-KAHJ. And last I checked, a few hundred thousand fashion and style lovers have witnessed meâand donât worry, it did not go unnoticedâsomeone whoâs always prided herself on knowing whatâs what when it comes to these things, committing a major pronunciation faux-pas. This is a sensitive spot for me because believe it or not, English is not my first language. So throughout middle and high school, Iâd often mispronounce something (like mayonnaise or salmon) only to see a friend crack up before they corrected me. Embarrassed as I felt, and childhood scars and pride aside, this mistake didnât cost me too much. Unlike some of the very real mistakes I made in my first few years of trying to build an online business. Here are three of the biggestâ¦and how you can avoid them: Mistake #1: âSpraying and prayingâ Be on Facebook. Post weekly on Youtube. Write Instagram posts 3x a day. Run Facebook ads. Write blog posts. And...every other random tactic under the sun. You get the idea, trying to do it all. Common business advice youâve probably heard before, right? Hereâs the problem with each of these: Thereâs a best time and a place to use each of these, but it depends on your situation and goals. Not the tactics themselves. For example: If youâre starting out, depending on your industry, Instagram might be a great place to connect with a few clients. So you post on Instagram knowing that you arenât going to be doing this forever, and that your goal is to get a client or two and learn about your audience. Then, once you know your audience, have a proven offer, and have made a few sales, paid traffic might be a good way for you to use what youâve learned and speed up your business growth. This is just one simple example, but can you see the difference? That when you have the right strategy, youâre able to know with confidence which tactic is right for you and when to use it? So you can stop chasing shiny new objects and not getting anywhere? Instead, you know when to use what tactic...and when to stop using it and move on...for the best and fastest results. Thatâs one of the skills youâll learn in the [Business Breakthrough Bundle](=). Mistake #2: Automating too early I canât even with this one⦠Advice like: Be the CEO. Leverage your time NOW with group coaching and courses! Build a team. Automate. Launch ugly. Now letâs be clear: There is absolutely a time and place for all of this. And yes, the goal is ultimately to have a true business that runs without relying on you. But, when you try to do these things before youâre ready? Like creating and selling out your first course or group program? Hiring too soon? Launching TOO ugly? That ends with you falling flat on your face: Out a lot of time. And money. And hope. Hereâs why itâs actually really smart to not automate too soon... So that you get to go through the one-on-one coaching. The âhustle.â The âlearn it yourself first instead of just doing your zone of genius.â Because only after youâve gone through all of these will you know what you need to do to automate. The key is knowing what you need to learn and when youâve learned enough to move on. Which I map out for you in each course in my [Business Breakthrough Bundle](=) so thereâs no room for error. (And so you donât spend a moment longer than you need to before scaling and automating.) Mistake #3: Relying on motivation âYou can do it if you believe in it and want it badly enough!â Please. If Iâd relied on my motivation to build a business, Iâd still be in my job. You know, for years, I tried to make it a habit to go to the gym. But even on the days I got it together enough to get myself there physically, I didnât know what to do. So Iâd walk for a while on the treadmill, maybe try a workout Iâd looked up online, maybe do a few squats, and then call it a day. I had no clue how to even have a good workout. So it didnât matter how motivated I was! (Not to mention how un-motivating it was not knowing what to do.) Same thing for my business. It wasnât until I literally broke it down into... Monday: Spend 15 minutes on A. Spend 15 minutes on B.
Tuesday: Spend 15 minutes on B. Spend 15 minutes on C.
â¦
Saturday: Spend 1 hour on X. ...that I started seeing results. Thatâs why this is the level of detail I share with you in my courses. The truth is, this isnât rocket science. (And I can really say that because I used to be an engineer for the Space Station.) Once you have a rock-solid strategy, proven tactics, AND know what to do, how to do it, and when to do it, you donât have to rely on motivation. All you have to do is put one foot in front of the other. If that sounds like what youâve been wanting, and you want to make sure you avoid these 3 expensive mistakesâalong with countless othersâto build your dream business in the best, most efficient way possible, then you should get in on the Business Breakthrough Bundle.
