I was SO embarrassed! Literally, a few hundred thousand people saw me make this mistake… {NAME}, A while back, I was on my daily walk with Falco when a woman stopped me with a camera in her hand. “Could I ask you a few questions about your outfit and record it?” Turns out she was a fashion Youtuber recording what New Yorkers like to wear. “Where’d you get your hat?” From one of the street vendors. So warm. And only $30! “What about your coat?” Mackage. “Your bag?” YSL. “And your shoes?” APL. I’m not going to share that video because here’s the kicker… Apparently, I’ve been pronouncing “Mackage” wrong my whole life. I’ve been calling it mac-age, the way it looks. When it’s actually Ma-KAHJ. And last I checked, a few hundred thousand fashion and style lovers have witnessed me—and don’t worry, it did not go unnoticed—someone who’s always prided herself on knowing what’s what when it comes to these things, committing a major pronunciation faux-pas. This is a sensitive spot for me because believe it or not, English is not my first language. So throughout middle and high school, I’d often mispronounce something (like mayonnaise or salmon) only to see a friend crack up before they corrected me. Embarrassed as I felt, and childhood scars and pride aside, this mistake didn’t cost me too much. Unlike some of the very real mistakes I made in my first few years of trying to build an online business. Here are three of the biggest…and how you can avoid them: Mistake #1: “Spraying and praying” Be on Facebook. Post weekly on Youtube. Write Instagram posts 3x a day. Run Facebook ads. Write blog posts. And...every other random tactic under the sun. You get the idea, trying to do it all. Common business advice you’ve probably heard before, right? Here’s the problem with each of these: There’s a best time and a place to use each of these, but it depends on your situation and goals. Not the tactics themselves. For example: If you’re starting out, depending on your industry, Instagram might be a great place to connect with a few clients. So you post on Instagram knowing that you aren’t going to be doing this forever, and that your goal is to get a client or two and learn about your audience. Then, once you know your audience, have a proven offer, and have made a few sales, paid traffic might be a good way for you to use what you’ve learned and speed up your business growth. This is just one simple example, but can you see the difference? That when you have the right strategy, you’re able to know with confidence which tactic is right for you and when to use it? So you can stop chasing shiny new objects and not getting anywhere? Instead, you know when to use what tactic...and when to stop using it and move on...for the best and fastest results. That’s one of the skills you’ll learn in the [Business Breakthrough Bundle](=). Mistake #2: Automating too early I can’t even with this one… Advice like: Be the CEO. Leverage your time NOW with group coaching and courses! Build a team. Automate. Launch ugly. Now let’s be clear: There is absolutely a time and place for all of this. And yes, the goal is ultimately to have a true business that runs without relying on you. But, when you try to do these things before you’re ready? Like creating and selling out your first course or group program? Hiring too soon? Launching TOO ugly? That ends with you falling flat on your face: Out a lot of time. And money. And hope. Here’s why it’s actually really smart to not automate too soon... So that you get to go through the one-on-one coaching. The “hustle.” The “learn it yourself first instead of just doing your zone of genius.” Because only after you’ve gone through all of these will you know what you need to do to automate. The key is knowing what you need to learn and when you’ve learned enough to move on. Which I map out for you in each course in my [Business Breakthrough Bundle](=) so there’s no room for error. (And so you don’t spend a moment longer than you need to before scaling and automating.) Mistake #3: Relying on motivation “You can do it if you believe in it and want it badly enough!” Please. If I’d relied on my motivation to build a business, I’d still be in my job. You know, for years, I tried to make it a habit to go to the gym. But even on the days I got it together enough to get myself there physically, I didn’t know what to do. So I’d walk for a while on the treadmill, maybe try a workout I’d looked up online, maybe do a few squats, and then call it a day. I had no clue how to even have a good workout. So it didn’t matter how motivated I was! (Not to mention how un-motivating it was not knowing what to do.) Same thing for my business. It wasn’t until I literally broke it down into... Monday: Spend 15 minutes on A. Spend 15 minutes on B. Tuesday: Spend 15 minutes on B. Spend 15 minutes on C. … Saturday: Spend 1 hour on X. ...that I started seeing results. That’s why this is the level of detail I share with you in my courses. The truth is, this isn’t rocket science. (And I can really say that because I used to be an engineer for the Space Station.) Once you have a rock-solid strategy, proven tactics, AND know what to do, how to do it, and when to do it, you don’t have to rely on motivation. All you have to do is put one foot in front of the other. If that sounds like what you’ve been wanting, and you want to make sure you avoid these 3 expensive mistakes—along with countless others—to build your dream business in the best, most efficient way possible, then you should get in on the Business Breakthrough Bundle.
