Especially if no one around you âgetsâ your ambitions and goals? Hereâs why (and how to make sure you realize your desires)⦠{NAME}, All my life, thereâs been a certain phrase that people have tried to force down my throat. Most of the time, I've always spit it right back out. The phrase Iâm talking about is⦠âGood enoughâ Likeâ¦. âYou want to charge [your dream price]?? Isnât what youâre charging (good) enough already?â âYou want to make [your dream revenue] per month?! Isnât what youâre making (good) enough as it is?â âYou want to make that much while working [your dream work schedule]?? Isnât your schedule good enough?â Usually, itâs my dadâs voice I hear in my head, saying these things. For you, maybe itâs your dad too. Or, maybe itâs someone else. No matter who it is, you and I know theyâre just trying to keep us âsafe.â But even knowing itâs out of love doesnât help. Because no matter the intention behind it, thereâs a big problem with this way of thinking⦠It teaches us to relate to money in terms of âneed.â As in, you should make what you âneed,â and that should be âgood enough.â But what if you donât want your relationship with money to be based on need? (I understand itâs a privilege to even be able to ask that. So I want to recognize that without letting it derail this conversation.) Chances are, if youâre reading this email, youâve got the basics covered. So letâs take a second and dream⦠What would you do differentlyâhow would you live differentlyâif your relationship with money was based on desire instead? And unlimited desire at that? Off the top of my head⦠â¦I think itâd be fun to be able to buy a $25 million penthouse in NYC if I wanted to. (Becauseâ¦why not?) â¦I have a secret dream to be able to provide every child with a world-class education. And I know itâll take a lot of money to even try. â¦I want to be able to leave my kids, and my kidsâ kids, and their kids, with enough money that they can chase their big dreams. ...I want to see more power being wielded by good people, especially womenâand well, itâs also going to take a lot of money to be a part of that change too. And, out of all of this, what Iâm possibly most excited about? Is what Iâll have to createâin terms of impact and valueâin exchange for the amount of money itâll take to realize these desires. If youâre feeling a connection to any of this, hereâs what I want to share with you⦠You might feel like thereâs a financial ceiling that you canât get past right now. Because your goals feel impossible⦠Too much. Too greedy. Too unrealistic. The truth is, theyâre actually none of those things.
