Whenever I create a new course, I still feel some of these imposter syndrome thoughts! {NAME}, I still can’t believe how many courses I’ve created over the past seven years. Ready for this?.... Eighteen courses! And that’s not counting the various mini-courses, live trainings, bonus masterclasses, and one-time bootcamps that would easily double that number. I was curious because I’ve just started creating my nineteenth course... Which feels crazy to say out loud! (And if you’re keeping count, yes, I just wrapped up my eighteenth course a few months ago! When the inspiration hits, you gotta go with it.) Anyways, the timing of me creating a new course plus opening enrollment for Ultimate Course Launch tomorrow feels perfect to share a few thoughts with you about creating and selling courses… First, imposter syndrome is no joke. Even after seventeen courses (not counting eighteen and nineteen because they haven’t been officially “shared” yet :) and thousands of paying students, I still found myself wondering as I created the first lesson yesterday... “Is this really good enough?” “Are people really going to find this valuable?” I wonder this at the start of almost every new course, by the way. And when I do, I remind myself of a few things… (These are my top go-to’s for quieting that imposter syndrome, and you’re welcome to adapt them for yourself!) >> I’m creating this course from my experience. And that’s enough. >> How much thought and care I’m putting into this course, just like every course I’ve ever created, and how much my students will feel and appreciate it >> Why I felt people needed this course, and the gap I know it’ll fill Second, you get to sell whatever you want, and make the money you want, just because you want to. Honestly, as the first lesson took me about 3x the time I thought it would take, I found myself wondering… “Why am I doing this again?” I don’t need to create more courses. And there are plenty of new TV shows I want to watch. The answer, as it always is, is simply…because I want to. Because I know it’s needed. Because it’s my gift to share it with the world. You don’t need any more reason than that to create the things you want, share them, and yes, make the money you want from them. And finally, selling courses is amazing for growing your bank account...AND your legacy As I was scrolling through the story highlights on my Instagram feed (to put off working on my course lol), I realized how many of them are from people who’ve purchased one or more of my courses. And then shared with me how much that course impacted their life. These are changes that they and their families will benefit from...forever. I know that since you’re here as a part of this community, yes, you care about making the money you want... And, you also care about what you’re putting out into the world. The change that you’re driving. And the legacy that you’re creating. So, some thoughts around this that I want to share with you... When your kids Google you in the future, what will that look like? Will they be Googling you from the gorgeous home your course sales helped you buy? And will you be proud of what they find in the search results? The content you’ve put out, the teachings you’ve shared, and the testimonials of lives YOU’ve changed from the courses you’ve sold? If you’ve been thinking about creating a course, hope this email has helped to inspire and motivate you. And if you’re in the middle of creating a course, I’m right there with you. You’re doing great work. ;) And if you already have a course or two out there, your message is needed and you’re so appreciated. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
