Today, as we celebrate the founding of our great nation, we must remember the history of our democratic experiment. America has always been a place where people can dream and achieve great accomplishments. Throughout generations of American history, our people have demonstrated our ideals and created the country we now call home. But, our struggle for freedom is more than a historical event. We are still putting in the work day in and day out to guarantee that the promise of America is not reserved for a select few. As long as there are families struggling to make ends meet because of a lack of affordable healthcare, housing, childcare, and good-paying jobs, we are not completely free. Our country has come so far since our founding, and it is so important to be a part of the effort to continue our progress toward a more perfect union fully representative of the American ideals of liberty, equality, and justice. These unique ideals are what make our country great and are what still make me so proud to be an American!
