[Truth to Power PAC]( Katie Porter here. You may have noticed that the emails I’m sending you look a bit different than the ones I used to send, and now say “Truth to Power” at the top. That’s because while we didn’t advance out of California’s Senate primary a few weeks back, I’m not giving up our fight. My term serving CA-47 in the House runs through early January. And until then, I’ll be doing everything I can to get some of our top priority pieces of legislation across the finish line. That includes continuing to push leadership to take up a bill effectively banning Members of Congress from trading stocks; holding Big Oil accountable; and using the Oversight Committee to get real answers for the American people. I’m still focused on the future of our Congress, because I’ve seen how desperately we need to enact real change. On the campaign trail, I heard from so many Californians who distrust the government and are losing faith in our democracy’s ability to deliver for them. People see how beholden politicians are to their biggest donors and special interest groups. And they don’t like the end result. That’s why in 2020, as a freshman Member of Congress, I started Truth to Power. Truth to Power is a “Leadership PAC” which is a campaign finance term that just means a political entity run by an elected official. Since 2020, Truth to Power has been able to spend over $500,000 directly supporting Democrats and has raised more than $125,000 directly into candidates’ campaigns. We’ve endorsed and supported Democrats who reject corporate PAC money and are running to protect the environment, restore the nationwide right to an abortion, and create an economy that works for working people. Sunday, March 31, will mark Truth to Power’s first fundraising deadline since the end of our Senate campaign. Reporting a strong number will show pundits and politicians that we are ready to elect leaders who will reject corporate PAC money and act in the best interest of the American people, not big corporations. Ahead of 3/31, is there anything you can give to Truth to Power to send a powerful message to corporate interests, and help us support Democrats in must-win races across the country?
