This week’s podcast episode is part 2 with Charles and Michelle. To view this email as a web page, [click here]() [IWT Header] Podcast takeaways: “There’s no virtue to living a smaller life than you have to.” This week’s episode of the I Will Teach You To Be Rich podcast is part 2 with Charles and Michelle, who are worth $10 million and have spent 21 years arguing over money. Charles is trying to rewrite his internal money story, but after years of playing the “I’m not the kind of guy who blows money on X, Y, Z,” card, he still worries about extreme what-if scenarios, driving Michelle to consider divorce. [New Episode]() Here are some things to listen for: - Michelle is optimistic that Charles wants to change but skeptical that he will actually do it. Michelle mentions that Charles has caused damage. What damage does she indicate? Do you think there is any other damage? (16:13) - My thoughts: At a certain point, you earn the right to change your life. There's no virtue in living a smaller life than you have to. This is counter to what our society tells us. Our culture tells us stay humble, don't get too big for our britches, and on and on and on. But at a certain point, there's a cost to it. (17:15) - Charles zeroes in on a money belief that’s holding him back — he feels pretentious when he spends more money than he feels like he should, that he has some lifestyle creep. Can you identify any of your own limiting money beliefs? (18:58) I’ve gotten TONS of feedback on part 1 of this amazing story, and I expect to get even more from part 2. I really want to hear what you think. Listen to [part 1 here]() and [part 2 here]() and tell me what you think. Are you more like Charles or Michelle? Why? What advice would you give the couple? --------------------------------------------------------------- How to write emails that get opened Look at this tweet. How does it make you feel? [Martin Berkhan] Martin Berkhan is a fitness guy with very strong opinions. Whether you like it or not, in 22 words, you instantly know what he stands for. I want to show you how to write in a way that makes you stand out. In a way that people can instantly recognize you within 22 words. To show you how, I’m going to do something special: I’m going to show you a behind-the-scenes session of how I write an email to hundreds of thousands of people. Like the very one you’re reading right now — the type of email that’s built a business and is FUN to read. You’ll get to follow along over my shoulder as I walk through the same creative process that we’ve used to write all our emails, build a list of 300,000+ subscribers, and write 8-figure sales pages. [Creative process that we’ve used to write all our emails]() Here are really juicy parts (there's a lot — you will never find material like this anywhere else): - [0:23]() – The two types of emails we send our list - [1:02]() – Where I start every email - [1:18]() – The best place to find stories for your emails - [1:55]() – Watch me create a 5-line email outline in real time - [5:26]() – How to spot — and eliminate — “marketese” from your writing (this is why my emails sound like someone is talking to you) - [6:40]() – How to really go from “telling” to “showing” — everybody talks about this, no one else shows you how - [8:10]() – Which words to change to instantly turn so-so writing into hard-hitting copy - [10:13]() – How I get unstuck when I can’t figure out what to write next - [11:20]() – Who I go to for help on copy and how to build your own support network (no, you don’t have to pay anybody for this kind of help) - [16:27]() – How to wrap up an email so it forces your audience to stay engaged and makes you a better writer - [17:26]() – The most important part of the writing process - [17:58]()– The most advanced skill you can learn as a copywriter - [18:30]() – Watch me tear down and re-write my own email to make it 10X better - [19:32]() – The best hack for novice copywriters to make their writing exponentially better Most people would charge at least $150 for this video alone, but because of our scale, we don’t have to do that. This is my gift to you. I hope you enjoy it. LeBron James spends $1.5 million a year keeping his body in top form, [according to this article from The Ringer](), investing in nuanced health-promoting practices like cryotherapy and hyperbaric chambers. Not to mention his personal chefs and trainers who help him adhere to a strict diet and routine. I LOVE IT. Everything in his life, down to the last detail, is focused on achieving peak physical fitness. He’s not just spending $100 on a massage and calling it good. His #1 Money Dial is health and fitness, and so he’s architected his life and finances around physical fitness and investing a significant amount of money in it. Here are some other examples: - Membership at a gym based on quality, not necessarily distance to your house / apartment - Personal trainer + nutritionist - Choosing food based on macros, not simply taste (e.g., Ezekiel bread) - Selective about your workout gear (Lululemon + Nike are the best) Taken to its logical extreme, the health and fitness Money Dial can mean annual yoga retreats, always checking restaurant menus before you go, and joining social groups based on fitness. Here are some additional examples from readers: “Currently paying a nutritionist $275/month for a six-month program.” “I spend around $12,000 per year in personal trainer for Pilates and Gyrotonics class. It’s absolutely worth it.” “Right now I am spending a bit more than average of my monthly income to go to a specific karate dojo in town. I take classes with one of the best masters of karate in Europe. It was one of the best decisions. I am in better shape than ever, physically and mentally (this master is old school so he includes all the spiritual parts of karate in his classes).” If health / fitness is your Money Dial, reply and let me know what that looks like for you. --------------------------------------------------------------- Masterclass in copywriting This week, we’re talking about the power of good writing.
