take the test? ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ 🥩 Steak and lobster Howdy {NAME}, I'm back on the carnivore diet. I tried it out last year and dropped 25 pounds, getting down to 165 pounds—the same weight I was at 21. I've experimented with many diets and exercise routines over the years, but nothing worked quite like this! Plus, as a bonus, I get to eat steak almost every day. We all have our reasons for wanting to stay in shape. For me, it's all about energy. I have two young daughters, a huge garden to maintain, and, of course, this marketing work I do for MSPs. So, why am I telling you this? The lesson here is that it took me a while to figure out what really works for losing weight. The same is true for your IT business—figuring out which marketing strategies work requires plenty of testing. I speak with many MSPs each week, and a common thread I hear is that they've tried a particular type of marketing, only to feel like it was a huge waste of time and money. But what I try to help them understand is that it’s not a waste—it provides valuable data and insights into what works and what doesn’t for their business. The reality is that marketing your IT business requires testing. This is true for most B2B businesses. A method that works for one business may not work for another—that’s why there’s no silver bullet in marketing. Of course, I’m a marketing guy, so I would say that! However, if we’re smart in our testing, we can build assets that add value to the business, even if the marketing doesn’t have the intended consequences. Let me give you an example. I recently did an SEO project in a highly competitive space for one MSP. While we weren’t sure if all the content we were publishing would help them outrank the competition, we offset this risk by thinking about how we could build an asset—not just a series of blog posts. We ended up creating a valuable book for their industry, which also fit nicely into a series of blog posts that optimized their website and gave them what’s known in SEO as "[topical authority]( By the end of the project, they had top-notch SEO and blog posts, as well as a valuable book published on Amazon. We even did a press release for media coverage and outreach to industry associations. Two birds, one stone. So, the question is: How can you market in a way that builds a valuable asset for your business, while also generating qualified leads as a side effect? Here’s a clue about how I’m doing it in my business… If you haven’t already, grab a free listing over at [MSP Near Me](. 🧪 Take The Quiz? Trying out a new lead magnet in the form of a quiz. It's called The [IT Pro Traffic Booster quiz]( - the intended purpose is to score how good or bad your website is for generating new business. Built it on a SaaS tool called scoreapp. Check out [the quiz]( and see how it works. 📧 Are you all over DMARC? Spoke with Mike Anderson from EasyDMARC - he goes into detail on how MSPs are adding a new profit center to their service offering - [youtube video here.]( Or you can listen to it in podcast form just search MSP Marketing Machine and look for me in your app of choice. I always thought DMARC/DKIM/SPF was a thing marketing managers had to worry about for email deliverability - turns out there's a lot more to it. 🤐 This Issue’s "Shadow Keyword" Every issue, we give away a free shadow keyword – these are taken directly from the MSP Shadow system. They are keywords you can optimize your website for that hardly anyone else is ranking for in the search engines. Best of all, most of the keywords we have in the MSP Shadow System have high buying intent and are bottom-of-the-funnel "buy" keywords. Keyword: "cyber security companies" At the moment wikipedia ranks top for this term with about 30 companies listed on [this page](. How do you add yourself to the list? Well don't edit the page yourself - a moderator will delete your edit and claim self promotion. Instead you need to find a Wikipedia editor......I know a guy. One of the best things about links from Wikipedia is the authority and SEO juice you'll get. Hardly any of your competitors will have a wikipedia backlink. The search engines love wikipedia and as AI indexes the entire world you'll find things like wikipedia wrapped into it's reponses so you need to position your business digitally and think about what future AI models will use as there source knowledge - your website or a trusted source like wikipedia? 📆 Industry Event: Scalecon 24 Las Vegas Taher from MSP Camp and Nigel from [The Tech Tribe]( have teamed up and are running a brand new event all about growing your IT business. [Register For Scalecon24]( They've got a fantastic line of speakers on the agena - where ever you might be in the world this will be worth attending. They twisted my are and I will be speaking... I'm told the agenda is locked and loaded will post it next week when it goes live.
