🤖 BOT Warning Hey {NAME}, Today, I'm experimenting with a new approach: recording my voice, transcribing it using a tool called Descript, and then utilizing AI to convert the transcription into this email. Sounds a bit complex, but my goal is to streamline my workflow and ensure the final content is polished and engaging. Let's see how it goes! Why You Need a Marketing Strategy for Your MSP Business One thing I've noticed when talking to various IT businesses is the lack of a formal marketing strategy. It's surprising because many MSPs are meticulous about documenting their clients' infrastructure, often using tools like IT Glue and Hudu. However, when it comes to documenting their own business strategies, there's a noticeable gap. Is It Documented? Do you have a marketing strategy document for your business? If not, it's time to create one. Having a strategy document provides guidance and direction for your marketing efforts. It outlines your ideal customer, the marketing activities you should undertake, and how to execute these plans effectively. How AI Can Help Just as I'm using AI to craft this newsletter, you can leverage AI to create your marketing strategy document. I've recently written a blog post on how to use AI to develop a comprehensive marketing strategy for your MSP. This post not only covers strategic planning but also offers insights into the tactics needed to implement your strategy. [Check it out here](. â¶ï¸ Content Worth Consuming The last few emails I've sent you have included some "shadow keywords" these are bascially SEO keywords for your IT business that none of your competitors are going after. In this [video]( I go into detail on what makes up a shadow keywords and how they can be found. 🥇 MSP Games July Winners
Congratulations to Nick Costa from [Soaring Towers]( Steve Brown from [Edge IT]( Arianna Maharaj from [CTTL]( Great game! One thing I've noticed since running these events is that attendance is around 25%âthat means for every 4 people that register, only 1 will show up. For the June games, we had 48 registered and 12 in attendance. In July, we had 21 register and 7 in attendance.
So in reality, if I want 50 people at the game, we need 200 registered. The biggest lesson here is that monthly games aren't going to cut it; it's going to be a quarterly thing. I also think we need to mention the prizes in the marketing and promotion. I've intentionally not marketed the prizes. Lesson learned here. If you are planning on running a webinar or game for your IT business, I'd suggest a 3-month run-up. - Month 1: Plan content and plan the promotion methods.
- Month 2: Prospect.
- Month 3: Promote the event. For now, I'm going to stick to quarterly events. As such, we'll be back with the October MSP Games. 🤐 This Issueâs "Shadow Keyword" Every issue, we give away a free shadow keyword â these are taken directly from the MSP Shadow system. They are keywords you can optimize your website for that hardly anyone else is ranking for in the search engines. Best of all, most of the keywords we have in the MSP Shadow System have high buying intent and are bottom-of-the-funnel "buy" keywords. Keyword: "cyber security + small town" One way smart IT businesses are leveraging SEO is by optimizing core service keywords with smaller locations they operate nearby. These are usually inner pages on the website that mention one location and the service keyword. The process is repeated several times to cover multiple locations. This strategy is working at the moment. The benefit is getting more relevant traffic to your website from people searching in these areas. I'd highly recommend not creating multiple Google My Business listings for each location. We've had one member who did this, and it impacted their main service location due to the way it was created. As a result, it confused Google, and their main location's GMB profile has dropped off the map. 📆 Industry Event: Scalecon 24 Las Vegas Taher from MSP Camp and Nigel from [The Tech Tribe]( have teamed up and are running a brand new event all about growing your IT business.
