Plus: 4.6-billion-year-old space rock sheds light on early cosmos ☄️ In May 2020, a team of meteor hunters found a chunk of meteorite, now called Erg Chech 002, in Algeria's Erg Chech region of the Sahara Desert. Initial analysis showed that it is approximately 4.6 billion years old, meaning it was formed during the first million years of our solar system. As such, it is the oldest known meteor of volcanic origin. Read more in today's [Must Read](. Good morning. I’m Shubhangi, an editorial assistant at IE. This is the Blueprint. Let's dive into it! Must Read [4.6-billion-year-old space rock sheds light on early cosmos]( 🌌 Scientists investigated the space rock formed during the first million years of our solar system in more detail, as such, it is the oldest known meteor of volcanic origin. The data revealed some gleaning information about the early evolution of our solar system. The new analysis, which builds on previously published data, shows that Aluminium-26 (26Al), a radioactive isotope present within the meteorite when it formed, was spread unevenly throughout the Solar System. Evgenii Krestianinov from the Australian National University and colleagues analyzed Erg Chech 002 and determined that its lead-isotopic age is roughly 4.566 billion years old. The Erg Chech 002 chunk is estimated to have been lying in the sands of the Saharah for approximately 100 years before it was discovered, meaning there are likely many other meteorite fragments hidden in plain sight, waiting to be found. The two telescopes will collect data on the distant moon, which will then be used by NASA's Juno probe, which is currently orbiting Jupiter. That data will help to guide the spacecraft during future flybys of Io. Io, roughly the size of Earth's moon, is the solar system's most volcanic body, and new observations could shed light on the environment surrounding Jupiter. Using a quantum computer, the researchers simulated and then "observed" the reaction in super slow motion. The research team noticed an interference pattern of a single atom due to a "conical intersection," a common geometric structure in chemistry. Not this way, after all Close to where the famed Shanidar 4 Neanderthal skeleton was found, recent excavations are shaking up what we knew about their burial practices. Unearthed in 1960, Shanidar 4 was initially believed to showcase a touching flower burial, portraying Neanderthals as compassionate individuals. However, this recent development introduces fresh evidence, revealing a more intricate facet of their rituals.
