This missile uses solid fuel technology, allowing faster deployment than liquid-fueled rockets. The test launch was confirmed by North Korean state media, who say the Hwasong-18 will form the core of the country's nuclear forces. They described the launch as a warning to the U.S. and allies over increased military drills in the region. Experts say it's impressive North Korea has managed to successfully develop solid-fuel ICBMs despite limited experience. The missile flew for over 70 minutes and to an altitude of 4,131 miles (6,648 km) on a lofted trajectory.
