[Blueprint]( SUVs are dominating the roads all around the world even though they are the second largest contributor to the increase in global carbon emission, following the power sector. And now, [a new report]( from the International Energy Agency has revealed the environmental cost that the global SUV fleet produces. The findings suggest that the carbon emissions generated by the global fleet of 330 million SUVs exceed the combined carbon emissions of whole countries. Who knows? Maybe itâs time to accelerate the hype on electric vehicles (EVs). Before diving deeper into that, let it all hang out with our [video of the day]( showing an award-winning AI project that detects deepfake videos. Good morning. Iâm Mert, an Editor at IE. MUST READ [Global SUV fleet produces more carbon emissions than most countries]( We all know that sport utility vehicles (SUVs) aren't the most ecologically friendly cars you can drive, but their environmental impact is possibly greater than many realize. According to [a new report]( from the International Energy Agency, the global fleet of 330 million SUVs produces more carbon emissions on its own than the combined carbon emission output of entire nations. "A strong increase in sales of electric models was not enough to prevent carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from SUVs worldwide, reaching almost one billion tonnes in 2022," the report said. "Between 2021 and 2022, oil use in conventional cars, excluding SUVs, remained roughly the same, but the oil consumption of SUVs globally increased by 500,000 barrels per day, accounting for one-third of the total growth in oil demand," the report goes on to say. "On average, SUVs consume around 20 percent more oil than an average medium-size non-SUV car. The combustion-related CO2 emissions of SUVs increased by nearly 70 million tonnes in 2022." The researchers [achieved the impressive milestone]( by using optical traps, which use a highly focused laser beam capable of manipulating tiny objects. Their experiment could help build the next generation of quantum computers. "The freely flying atoms move from one place to the other without being held by or interacting with the optical trap," research team member Jaewook Ahn from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology explained in a press statement. "In other words, the atom is thrown and caught between the two optical traps much like the ball travels between the pitcher and a catcher in a baseball game." Scientists analyzed the fractured skulls and found that the murderer most likely used a blunt weapon, like a stone axe, and the victim may have taken up to a month to succumb to their injuries. The Cro-Magnon rock shelter, which was first uncovered in 1868, comprises the bones of eight Homo sapiens people who are thought to have lived between 31,000 and 33,000 years ago. The four adults and four children are the earliest examples of modern humans ever found in Europe, and they were alive and well in the middle of the Upper Paleolithic. The answer appears to be no, [according to new research](. The latest findings demonstrated that regardless of delivery mode, evolution has ensured that microbes find a way to be delivered via alternate, compensating routes, if necessary. The research sheds light on how infants, typically thought of as sterile before birth, acquire the necessary microbes for their diverse microbiomes. The researchers discovered that the mother contributes about 58.5 percent of a baby's microbiota, regardless of the baby's delivery method.
