Plus: A small tweak to genes may finally enable us to regrow cartilage. Dec 01, 2022 [Blueprint]( Since his acquisition of Twitter, Elon Musk has been making headlines for internal company moves. Now, Musk seems to have shifted focus to external factors, stating in a tweet on Monday that Apple threatened to [withhold Twitter from the App Store](. Musk further claimed that his reaction to Apple was, in fact, a defense of free speech in the U.S. “This is a battle for the future of civilization. If free speech is lost even in America, tyranny is all that lies ahead,” read one of the other tweets he sent on the same day. But before diving deeper into the latest developments in Elon Musk’s turbulent management of Twitter, let’s have a look at our [video of the day](. Who knows? It may even make you reach the speed of light. Good morning. I’m Mert, an Editor at IE. This is The Blueprint. Let’s get started. Last Sunday, Blueprint subscribers had scientists’ insights on the latest internal combustion engine developments. This week they’ll look into the amazing world of bioengineered plants. [In a tweet]( Musk accused Apple of threatening to withhold Twitter from the App Store without giving any specific reason and called it censorship. Since his Twitter acquisition, Elon Musk has primarily been in the news for the things that have happened inside the social media company, whether it is firing half of the workforce or asking the remaining crew to commit more hours of work at a higher intensity to build a new version of the social media company. On Monday, though, Musk appeared more focused on external factors that could affect his newly acquired social media company, and his target was none other than the world's most publicly valued company, Apple. The tension between Musk and Tim Cook didn't last long, though. "Among other things, we resolved the misunderstanding about Twitter potentially being removed from the App Store. Tim was clear that Apple never considered doing so," Musk said in a tweet he sent Thursday. We may finally be able to rebuild cartilage with a simple change to our genes, says the study. Takamitsu Maruyama, Daigaku Hasegawa, senior author Wei Hsu, and others reveal two ground-breaking discoveries, including a new understanding of the multifaceted protein -catenin. “The goal of this study,” said Dr. Maruyama of Forsyth Institute, “was to figure out how to regenerate cartilage. We wanted to determine how to control cell fate, to cause the somatic cell to become cartilage instead of bone.” [READ MORE [Arrow]]( [SCIENCE]SCIENCE [In a first, scientists created a holographic wormhole and sent a message through it]( A collaborative team of researchers in the U.S. created a [holographic wormhole]( and sent a message through it. This is the first known report of a quantum simulation of a holographic wormhole on a quantum processor. Since the quantum system used in the experiment is rather small, it does not teach us anything that we do not know or compute something that is not possible with the computation power at our disposal these days. Nevertheless, it sets the stage for future work in this direction and would help us test theories of quantum gravity, where both general relativity and quantum mechanics can be studied together. However, it is difficult for current filtration membranes to filter water if the water is extremely dirty or has small, neutral molecules, such as boric acid, an insecticide used on crop plants. Now, a research team from the University of California Santa Barbara in the U.S. replicated[different patterns of water-attracting and water-repelling materials]( lining a filter’s porous membrane and found ideal arrangements that would let water through more easily. They also discovered filters that would slow down some impurities while testing the porous membrane. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
