Plus: Solar flares are now coming toward Earth. Nov 22, 2022
[Blueprint]( Sustainability thatâll really float your boat â¦or your solar panels, at the very least. The sustainability in question comes from a Portuguese company, which has [developed an innovative floating solar solution]( that follows the Sun. With single- or dual-axis tracking, its floating island of solar panels is powered by electric engines, which use less than 0.5 percent of the total energy produced. It claims to be the first to merge floating solar panels with Sun-tracking technology. But before you take a look at that energetic idea, check out this one. [This video]( shows a fighter jet that could exceed Mach 1 in a vertical climb. Good morning. Iâm Alice, an Editor at IE. This is The Blueprint. Letâs dive in. [The âlast Neanderthal technologyâ shows the species was in trouble before modern humans got to Europe.](
Neanderthals didnât disappear all at once. In fact, these near-humans never really disappeared entirely. Thatâs because most modern people whose ancestors hail from Europe or Asia â where Neanderthals lived â are part Neanderthal. Comprising 180 mobile solar panels, PROTEVS has a total installed capacity of 73 kilowatts of peak power (kWp) and provides an increase in energy production by up to 40 percent, thanks to its double-sided panels, which turn in line with the Sun's movement. It has vertical moving panels, a diameter of 38 meters (124.5 feet) and takes up an area of 1,444 square meters (4,737 square feet). According to SolarisFloat, the PROTEVS solutions (of which there are two types) are âmodular, detachable, and scalable, with an easy installation process.â As the panels can be attached independently, islands can even be merged to form a floating solar farm. â The shadows thrown by the floating structure and PV panels result in a superficial temperature reduction, which the company says is beneficial to the aquatic ecosystem.
