Plus: Designers from the UK have built a Martian house. Aug 29, 2022 [Blueprint]( NASA's Artemis I launch has the world excited for a while. It was scheduled to launch from the Space Agencies Kennedy Space Center in Florida on Monday, August 29. However, NASA decided to postpone the launch after the team was unable to resolve a problem with one of the rocket's four engines. The following possible launch attempt is scheduled for Friday, September 2, though it's not yet known if that date will have to be put forward, either. Before moving on with further details about the Artemis I launch, let’s have a look at our video of the day and see how mechanics manage to ride a car via a giant hamster wheel. Greetings. Though successful rocket launches are never guaranteed, it is a significant setback for a program that has faced criticism for going wildly over budget and for numerous delays over the years. → The launch was scrubbed due to an issue that came to light with RS-25 engine number 3 during tanking operations. During their pre-launch broadcast, NASA mentioned that they weren’t able to troubleshoot the issue during their wet dress rehearsal in June. Still, the next mission attempt is just around the corner. Once SLS does launch, it will be the first mission in NASA’s Artemis program, which aims to send the first astronauts back to the moon since Apollo 17 in 1972. That lunar landing mission, Artemis III, will send the first woman and first person of color to the moon. The next potential launch attempt is on Friday, September 2, though it's currently unclear whether the launch will have to be pushed back further than that date or not.
