Plus: How time travel is actually possible Aug 01, 2022 [Blueprint]( In news that would make Maverick throw his Ray-Bans to the floor in despair, the Air Force [grounded its fleet of F-35 jets]( over the weekend. The issue was some potentially faulty ejection seats, which is not something you’d particularly want to go wrong, I’d imagine. It affected about 300 planes, including some fixed-wing Navy and Marine Corps aircraft. They’ll be back in the air soon though. The faulty parts are set to be replaced “at pace”, and the planes will be back up and running following further inspections to make sure all is well before their next flights. But before you set about choosing your wingman in preparation, [check out this video]( of a YouTuber explaining how time travel is in fact possible. I knew it! Good morning. I’m Alice, an Editor at IE. This is The Blueprint. Let’s dive in. Last Sunday, Blueprint subscribers heard how scientists from around the world reacted to the (ever-developing) brilliance of the James Webb Space Telescope. The issue also affected the Navy and Marine Corps, who also sidelined some of their fixed-wing aircraft. About 300 planes were affected in total. According to the Air Force’s Air Combat Command, the problem is to do with the explosive cartridges inside ejection seats, which help propel the pilot from the aircraft. The military “executed a stand down” and said it would have all the affected planes back up and flying “at pace”, as soon as they’d all been subjected to further inspections.
