Plus: Clean energy met a record-breaking 38 percent of global power demand in 2021 Mar 30, 2022 [View in browser]( The remote and frigid world we know as Pluto may be more dynamic than we thought. Images snapped by NASA's New Horizons during its 2015 flyby mission have revealed a new surprise: ice volcanoes. No, really. This suggests Pluto had a warm interior in the recent past, raising intriguing questions about the dwarf planet's life cycle, and that of similar planets in other solar systems. Before we travel to the edge of our solar system, we have the perfect video on whether we can engineer a vehicle with a nearly limitless power source. Good morning. Iâm Derya, an editor at IE. This is The Blueprint. Letâs dive in. [Video]VIDEO OF THE DAY [Could we engineer a vehicle with a nearly limitless power source?]( Iron ore company Fortescue had a vision of such a vehicle. [Could we engineer a vehicle with a nearly limitless power source?]( SCIENCE [Something warm inside Pluto caused huge ice volcanoes]( [Pluto.]( Scientists [have discovered a pattern of bizarre, lumpy terrain]( on Pluto that doesn't resemble anything ever seen in our solar system, and it points to recent volcanic activity â but not the kind you think. - On Tuesday, scientists revealed they had detected evidence of ice volcanoes erupting on Pluto as recently as 100 million years ago (or even more recently). Instead of spewing piping hot magma into the air, ice volcanoes ooze an icy-water mix, or even possibly a solid flow, like glaciers. Ice, ice baby. The fact that Pluto, a tiny dwarf planet 3.7 billion miles from the sun, has experienced gigantic ice volcanoes as recently as 100 million years ago, compounded by the possibility that this is still happening, is extremely significant. The findings indicate that Pluto, which should have lost much of its internal heat a long time ago, was able to retain enough energy to facilitate significant geological activity late in its history. And this could change [everything we know about Pluto]( and outlying planets throughout the universe. This is almost twice the amount of power that wind and solar energy generated when the Paris Agreement was signed in 2015. Individually, solar power generation rose 23 percent over the previous year while wind power increased by 14 percent. The fastest switch to clean sources was made by the Netherlands, Australia, and Vietnam, with the latter showing up to 300 percent growth in just one year after the government paid people to set up solar panels and feed electricity into the grid. Whatâs next? This news is extremely encouraging as countries push towards renewables in a bid to reduce emissions. Many countries have pledged to become carbon neutral before 2050, while [some plan on achieving this target even earlier](. The massive machine is three times larger than a normal H1 and 27 times the volume. - Standing at 21 feet tall and housing two stories on the inside, the incredible machine is practically a rolling house on wheels. The fully drivable vehicle, called the Hummer H1 X3, features a staircase, a guest space, and even a restroom. Fee-fi-fo-fum. It runs on four diesel engines and can reach a top speed of 19 mph. It was built using the frame of a U.S. Army LARC-LX steel-hulled amphibious cargo vehicle. Thankfully, the truck won't be used regularly on the road, instead going on display in the Sharjah Off-Road History Museum in the United Arab Emirates. If any [more massive trucks]( are added to the collection, we wouldn't be surprised to see it listed on Airbnb as one of those quirky novelty getaways. They just have to make sure guests don't drive off with their guest homes. [Read More]( MAIL & MUSINGS The Hummer H1 X3 houses two stories on the inside. Would you live inside it?
