Plus: The world's first Infinity Train can charge itself with gravity Mar 03, 2022 [View in browser]( Tesla CEO Elon Musk has taken a jab at President Joe Biden again following his State of the Union address. The President applauded Ford Motor and General Motors' efforts to electrify vehicles; however, he didnât mention Tesla. Muskâs animosity with Biden is long-running, and centers on the billionaire's claim that the President is purposefully silent on Tesla's contributions to the U.S. economy. Right or wrong, it looks like Musk wonât let go of his beef any time soon. But, before we get into the feud between Musk and Biden, todayâs video envisions what would happen if the worldâs power went out. Not receiving your favorite newsletter would probably be the least of your worries. Good morning. Iâm Derya, an editor at IE. This is The Blueprint. Letâs turn on the lights. [Video]VIDEO OF THE DAY [What if the world's power went out?]( We're a little too dependent on electricity. [What if the world's power went out?]( CULTURE [Biden praises Ford and GM for $18B EV investments with no mention of Tesla]( [President Biden, Elon Musk.]( In his hour-long State of the Union (SOTU) address, U.S. President Joe Biden lauded the multi-billion dollar electric vehicle investments made by General Motors and Ford. [Missing a mention was Tesla]( which certainly had its CEO Elon Musk miffed. An ongoing feud. [In an email to CNBC]( Musk said that nobody was watching the Presidential address anyway, but later took to Twitter to highlight Tesla's contributions, directly to the President himself. - Musk stated that Tesla's production from its California factory is still the largest in North America and has produced twice the number of cars in the U.S. of all the carmakers combined. This isn't the first time that President Biden has sidelined Tesla. Elon Musk hasnât been invited to any of the White House events that feature leaders from the automotive industry. And when you think about the fact that Musk called Biden a â[damp [sock] puppet in human form]( just a week ago, itâs unlikely that heâll be asked to attend any future events as well. But not all prosthetics are created equal! On Wednesday, [IE spoke with CEO Tyler Hayes]( of startup Atom Limbs, which is currently making the world's first truly artificial human arm: the Atom Touch. - The Atom Touch acts like a regular arm, restores a near-full range of motion and a basic sense of touch, enables individual control, and is considerably more affordable than leading prosthetics today. Human-like dexterity. Anyone who has an arm amputation will be able to use the Atom Touch, as itâs designed to be non-invasive and easy to take on and off as needed. Atom Touch will be available for testing this year, and the firm aims to release the final product in 2023. This is fantastic news, since prosthetics seem to be the best solution for amputees [until we unlock our potential to grow a new limb](. With gravity?]( [Fortescue's mine at Eliwana, Western Australia.]( Australian mining company Fortescue and its subsidiary Fortescue Future Industries [are joining forces to develop]( the worldâs first Infinity Train: a battery-electric vehicle designed to transport loads of iron ore without ever needing to be charged. - Brilliant. The train will use the gravitational energy created on the downhill loaded sections of the iron or giantâs rail network to recharge its battery power systems, eliminating the need for additional charging on the return trip. The Infinity Train will eliminate the need for renewable energy generation and charging infrastructure, making it a capital-efficient solution for removing diesel and pollutants from operations. The company, which aims to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030, is also collaborating with MMA Offshore to convert a 246-foot vessel, the "MMA Leveque,â so [it can run almost entirely on green ammonia by 2022](. Details are scarce at the moment, and only time will tell whether this solution will be limited to a single use case or can be scaled up to a larger market.
