An unknown space object is sending out radio signals every 18 minutes, a flying car was officially cleared to fly by Slovakia’s authorities Jan 27, 2022 [View in browser]( Good morning to Elon Musk’s SpaceX, which is about to make history by accident. The second stage of a Falcon 9 rocket will slam into the moon on March 4, beating NASA's Artemis lunar mission to the punch. With a punch. Moving on to our galactic backyard, we've found a mysterious object in space that’s sending out radio waves roughly three times per hour, and it's unlike anything seen before. Meanwhile, a flying car with a BMW engine was officially cleared to fly by Slovakia's authorities, opening the door for mass production. This is The Blueprint. Keep reading. CULTURE [One of Elon Musk's SpaceX Rockets Is About to Crash Into the Moon]( [The Falcon 9 launching in 2015 (left), and the moon (right).]( SpaceX is going to (accidentally) punch the moon. Ouch. The second stage of one of SpaceX's Falcon 9 rockets, which was launched in 2015 to deploy NOAA's Deep Space Climate Observatory, [has tumbled its way into a terminal orbit]( with the moon after spending almost seven years hurtling through space. - A chaotic ending. Slated for impact on March 4, the second stage of the Falcon 9 rocket will smash into the surface of the moon at a velocity of 1.6 miles per second (2.58 km/s). Fortunately, it’s not a big deal. And we won’t even be able to see it. That’s because the bulk of the moon is in the way, and even if it wasn’t, we still wouldn’t be able to catch it with naked eyes alone, since it'll impact the darker region of the moon's phases. But no worries. With [the rapidly climbing volume of space junk]( an accelerating second space race, random detritus from future space missions are sure to lob more chunks of metal at our nearest cosmic neighbor. It's only a matter of time. [Read More]( SCIENCE [An Unknown Space Object is Sending Out Radio Signals Every 18 Minutes]( [The object's location, marked in the Milky Way.]( Researchers at the International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) [have found a mysterious object in space]( that has been sending out radio waves roughly three times per hour, and they say it’s unlike anything seen before. - Galactic backyard. The object has been dubbed GLEAM-X J162759.5-523504.3 and is located roughly 4,000 light-years from Earth. And no, it can’t be aliens, since the signal consists of a wide range of frequencies and is not artificial. Bummer. Astrophysicist Natasha Hurley-Walker of Curtin University, who led the discovery, said that the object could be a magnetar, [a slowly spinning neutron star]( that so far only exists as a theoretical phenomenon. The researchers are combing through data collected over the past decade to find other objects that are pulsing radio waves in this fashion, and they will continue to monitor the object to see if it turns back on again. More detections will tell them if this was a one-off occurrence or the start of a massive new population that we hadn't observed before. Exciting! [Read More]( INNOVATION [A Flying Car Was Officially Cleared to Fly by Slovakia's Authorities]( [The AirCar.]( Slovakian aviation firm Klein Vision's AirCar can fly at speeds of more than 100 mph (160 km/h) and reach altitudes of 8,000 ft (roughly 2,500 m). And now, [it has officially been cleared to fly]( by the Slovak Transport Authority. - Taking flight. The flying car, which can switch from flight to driving mode in less than three minutes once on the ground, received a certificate of airworthiness following 70 hours of flight testing. The current prototype has an internal combustion engine from BMW that runs on conventional fuel, setting it apart from the electric VTOL aircraft taking to the skies. And should the engine fail and cut out, the vehicle deploys a ballistic parachute system. Future of flying. The new certification opens the door for mass production. But the question remains: how many people will be willing to own a flying car that needs runway access for takeoff? Experts predict the flying car sector will be [worth a staggering $1.5 trillion]( by 2040, and now that Klein Vision has flight certification under its wings, we may be very close to finding out. Flesch reading score

Flesch reading score measures how complex a text is. The lower the score, the more difficult the text is to read. The Flesch readability score uses the average length of your sentences (measured by the number of words) and the average number of syllables per word in an equation to calculate the reading ease. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables. Usually, a reading ease score of 60-70 is considered acceptable/normal for web copy.
