My nutria bill made it to the president’s desk and was signed into law! /9pUY9ycF4cNnKScSRe_ka4a7wXG6CpHwO9QOO0j0Kbw=?refcode=E6660-20201114-SwampRats-graphic-Other-RegTemplate-NA-NA&amount=10 {NAME}, I’ll forgive you if you missed the news. We were only watching the future of our democracy play out in front of us… But back to nutria, or swamp rats as I like to call them — these nacho-cheese toothed invasive critters that breed like crazy have been a massive problem for our wetlands. Local agriculture and climate experts agree this invasive species is incredibly destructive. Weeding them out has been a struggle, which is why I went from the Valley swamps to the DC swamp to find a solution. And after months of hard work — from bringing a stuffed nutria named Nelly to the House floor, to working with Democrats and Republicans in the Senate to get this bill passed — my bill finally made its way to the president’s desk where it was signed into law! This is a huge win for the Valley, where we’ll now have the resources to hunt these pests and save our local environment from further destruction. This was also a major win for bipartisanship — which has seemed to take a back seat for many of my colleagues in Washington. We buckled down, worked with whoever we could no matter what party they belonged to, and delivered the results we set out for. Thanks for sticking along with me throughout this fight. I’ll be sure to keep you updated on more of my work in Washington in the new Congress! — Josh P.S. Bipartisan victories for the Valley like this one don’t come easy, and I couldn’t keep up the fight without support from folks like you.
