You may have seen the news that Jeffrey Epstein was indicted on sex trafficking charges. The billionaire hedge fund manager’s horrific crimes victimized girls as young as 14 years old, and his actions were protected in a cloud of secrecy for years.
But what was most alarming to me was the fact that he was charged for a very similar set of crimes just over a decade ago and faced no serious punishment. How could that happen?
{NAME}, Alex Acosta is how that happened. As a U.S. Attorney, he cut a deal with Jeffrey Epstein to help him avoid a long prison sentence. And despite that decision, he was appointed by President Trump to serve in his cabinet as the Secretary of Labor.

Epstein’s crimes are disgusting and indefensible, and no one should let him off easy -- especially not someone tasked with leading a federal agency.
I’m appalled that Alex Acosta still has a job in our federal government. Epstein’s victims deserve better than to see someone who protected and enabled their abuser continue to serve at our nation’s highest level.
[Alex Acosta should never have been nominated by the President or confirmed by the Senate to this post. He lacks the moral judgement to properly serve as our Secretary of Labor.
