The 307 lots in Austria Auction Company’s ‘Collector Rugs – No Reserve’ auction

[View this email in your browser]( The 307 lots in Austria Auction Company’s ‘Collector Rugs – No Reserve’ auction on 10 September 2022 offer potentially great reward for trade and private buyers who take a careful look through the online catalogue. Not only are there good examples of known types but there are also a number of very unusual examples that would happily grace any connoisseur’s collection. Lot 223, a Tekke Turkmen carpet (detail above, estimate €2,400-3,000) is such a piece as it is clearly early in date, at least 19th century. It has more guls than the usual–5 rows of 14–and has the boat border and minor guard borders used on Chodor and Yomut main carpets as well. These are rarely seen combinations that mark this carpet as being a particularly interesting and engaging historical object.
