Not only are there good examples of known types but there are also a number of very unusual examples that would happily grace any connoisseurâs collection. Lot 223, a Tekke Turkmen carpet (detail above, estimate â¬2,400-3,000) is such a piece as it is clearly early in date, at least 19th century. It has more guls than the usualâ5 rows of 14âand has the boat border and minor guard borders used on Chodor and Yomut main carpets as well. These are rarely seen combinations that mark this carpet as being a particularly interesting and engaging historical object.
