And they blame all gun violence on mental health. But this year, with help from the gun lobby, they forced a dangerous new provision into the federal budget that makes it more likely veterans suffering from severe mental illness will die by suicide. The provision is called Section 413. The new law puts our veterans at risk by blocking the Department of Veterans Affairs from reporting individuals deemed in crisis and at risk of suicide to the background check system. This new law breaks 30 years of precedent and will lead to more deaths. We cannot let it stand.
