he was a crooked cop, then a crooked councilman, and is now a crooked ultra-MAGA Congressman.   {NAME},  I know a lot of non NYC people get these emails, so in case you didn’t know, NYC is one of the most expensive places in the world to live in. In fact, housing here is 80% higher than the national average.  The majority of NYC renters are what is considered rent-burdened, spending over 30% of their income on housing, and close to a third of low-income renters across the five boroughs are severely rent-burdened, spending more than 50% of their pre-tax income on housing. In 2020 when NYC became an epicenter of the COVID contagion our local economy nosedived. The city lost nearly 1 million jobs and unemployment rocketed from 3.7% pre-pandemic to 21% in May 2020. As a result, evictions went through the roof and many poor New Yorkers lost their housing.  To combat this the state and federal government provided municipalities with rent relief funds which was supposed to help those affected by the economic squeeze of the pandemic pay their rents. That’s not how it worked out in our district though... Our GOP opponent, Congressman Anthony D'Esposito (R-NY) served on a board charged with overseeing this money for the city of Hempstead. During this time $4.7 million of these rent relief funds disappeared into thin air.  Because of D’Esposito’s lack of oversight and disdain for his low income constituents, Hempsted working class families in need of a helping hand suffered unnecessarily despite money having been allocated by the State and Federal government to ease their burden.  At the same time that the money was lost D’Esposito was double dipping on taxpayer money by taking a $100,000 salary as an Administrative Assistant on the County Board and at the same time he was earning a $71,000 salary as Hempstead Town Councilman.  He was a crooked cop (see our last email to learn about his dismal record with NYPD), then a crooked councilman, and is now a crooked ultra-MAGA Congressman. D'Esposito holds one of the most vulnerable GOP seats in Congress, so vulnerable that President Biden enjoyed a 14.6% margin of victory here. [We can’t let this crook serve another term in Congress and Democrats desperately need this easy pickins seat to win back our majority in the house. Can you chip in $5 or whatever you can spare to help us unseat him and take back the house in 2024? ]( [DONATE NOW]( Together we are going to fire crooked D’Esposito and return values and integrity to this vital congressional seat. Thank you in advance for your support.  Gian Jones  Democrat for NY-04    Gian A. Jones Democratic Candidate for US Congress New York - 4th District Mail contributions to: Gian A.
