SF: Coach not worried about George Kittle [Source: NFL.com]( San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (toe) has been limited during practice this week, but head coach Kyle Shanahan said he has no worries about Kittle's availability for Super Bowl LVIII. Our view: It's the biggest game of the year, and everything is on the line. Kittle will be out there come hell or high water. Sure, he's not 100 percent, but nobody is at this point. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. CLE: Joe Flacco not ready to retire [Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams](=) Cleveland Browns impending free-agent QB Joe Flacco said he wants to play in the NFL next season. Our view: Flacco proved last year that he could still start and be effective in the NFL. The Browns didn't go as far in the postseason as they'd like, largely because of Flacco's tendency to play "YOLO" ball, but the veteran quarterback might just be brought back as veteran insurance behind Deshaun Watson. BAL: Lamar Jackson takes home hardware [Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero]() Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson was named the NFL's most valuable player Friday, Feb. 9. Our view: Jackson was the best player in the league last year. It's too bad the Ravens fell short in the postseason again, because we want to see him take home the Lombardi Trophy. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. BUF: Dalton Kincaid sets record [Source: ESPN.com - Kris Rhim]( Buffalo Bills TE Dalton Kincaid's 73 receptions in 2023 broke the franchise record for most receptions by a rookie. Our view: The rookie tight end is just getting started. Kincaid is a dangerous receiving weapon, and he should continue to be a favorite target for QB Josh Allen. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. NCAA: Wink Martindale hired by Michigan [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport]() Former New York Giants defensive coordinator Don Martindale was hired as defensive coordinator at the University of Michigan Friday, Feb. 9. Our view: Martindale goes to the college ranks to take over the Wolverines' defense. Michigan's last two defensive coordinators, Mike Macdonald and Jesse Minter, ran styles similar to that of Martindale. If/when he has success in college football, Martindale should have more pro opportunities in the future. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. HOU: Dalton Schultz would like to return [Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper]() Houston Texans impending free-agent TE Dalton Schultz said he would like to re-sign with the Texans this offseason and believes the two sides will be able to reach an agreement. Our view: We'd like to see that. When healthy, Schultz was a weapon for the Texans. He didn't post career-best numbers, but in his first season with the Texans, he had 59 catches for 635 yards and five touchdowns. We'll see if Schultz gets to stay with the team and continue to build chemistry with QB CJ Stroud. [Back to Top](#top) 🏆 2024 Super Bowl LVIII Picks (Chiefs vs 49ers) Will Patrick Mahomes win again? SEA: Aden Durde tabbed to run defense in Seattle [Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero]( Dallas Cowboys defensive line coach Aden Durde is expected to be named as the new defensive coordinator for the Seattle Seahawks on Friday, Feb. 9. Our view: Durde has been a right-hand man of Dan Quinn for the last several years with both the Falcons and the Cowboys. Even though Quinn is with the Commanders, the Seahawks get his influence back in the building with Durde running the defense. At this time, reports indicate new Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald will be the defensive play-caller. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. LAC: NaVorro Bowman close to join coaching staff? [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport]() Former NFL linebacker NaVorro Bowman is reportedly the frontrunner to become the new linebackers coach for the Los Angeles Chargers, according to sources. Our view: That move would make sense for the Chargers. Bowman played for new head coach Jim Harbaugh for four seasons with the San Francisco 49ers from 2011 to 2014. Harbaugh is going to fill the staff with "his" guys, and Bowman certainly fits that category. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. NO: New Orleans hiring Andrew Janocko to coach QBs [Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler]() Former Chicago Bears quarterbacks coach Andrew Janocko is expected to be named to the same post with the New Orleans Saints, according to sources. Our view: Janocko now goes to the Saints to help out veteran QB Derek Carr. The Saints were looking for a new QB coach since Ronald Curry moved on to the Buffalo Bills. Janocko has worked with new offensive coordinator Klint Kubiak during their time with the Vikings. [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. NE: Dont'a Hightower lands coaching gig with New England [Source: The Athletic - Jeff Howe]( Former New England Patriots LB Dont'a Hightower was named as the team's new linebackers coach on Friday, Feb. 9. Our view: New Patriots HC Jerod Mayo is filling out his staff, and Hightower now begins his coaching career in the NFL. Hightower played linebacker for the Patriots from 2012-21. He earned All-Pro in 2016, twice was a Pro Bowl, and won three Super Bowl rings with New England. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks.
