The teams are in Las Vegas and (most) of the silly media questions are over. It's time to gear up for the Big Game. Our Cecil Lammey has the News and Notes you need. Let's Go. J PS. Thank you so much for the avalanche of kind messages regarding my opening yesterday and talking about loss and moving forward. I appreciate you allowing me to every once in a while, get outside the normal flow of Football and have a bit of "real talk". Thank you. KC: Jerick McKinnon has chance to play [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport]() Kansas City Chiefs RB Jerick McKinnon (groin) has a chance to play in Super Bowl LVIII depending on how he does during practice this week, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Our view: McKinnon is currently on the Reserve/Injured list. He's capable of practicing, and the team will see if he is good enough to play on Sunday. McKinnon would be another weapon for the Chiefs, and he could gash the 49ers on the ground as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. KC: Isiah Pacheco expected to be available [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport]() Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (ankle, toe) is expected to play in Super Bowl LVIII even though he is dealing with ankle and toe injuries, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Our view: Pacheco will be out there at less than full strength. That sounds about right because Pacheco is constantly battling some form of injury. His play against a 49ers rush defense that can be exposed will be key for the Chiefs on Sunday. [Back to Top](#top) [] 3. SF: George Kittle not worried about availability [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport]() San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (toe) is not concerned about his availability for Super Bowl LVIII even though he missed some practice last week because of a toe injury, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero. Our view: It's the Super Bowl, so Kittle will be out there at less than 100 percent. We think the rushing attacks for both teams will be the difference in the game. You can run on the Chiefs, and Kittle should be out there blasting open holes for Christian McCaffrey. Once the run is established, expect Kittle to be on the other end of some play-action passes from QB Brock Purdy. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. TB: Chris Godwin likely to handle more slot work [Source: ESPN.com - Jenna Laine]() Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Chris Godwin is expected to play much more often in the slot in 2024, according to comments made by new offensive coordinator Liam Coen. Our view: Godwin went over 1,000 yards receiving for the third year in a row, but he only scored two touchdowns in 2023. We'll see if playing him more from the slot gets him into the end zone more often. Godwin only has 10 touchdowns over the last three seasons. Just in 2019, Godwin had nine receiving touchdowns. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. NFL: Le'Veon Bell considering a return? [Source: ESPN.com]() Free-agent RB Le'Veon Bell (Chiefs) said he is considering making a comeback but is only interested in playing for one team. Bell did not mention the team but is believed to be interested in joining the Pittsburgh Steelers. Our view: Bell was in his prime about 10 years ago. Now, almost 32 years old, Bell could get a chance with the Steelers if they wanted. He would not be anything more than an RB3 behind Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren if he does get that chance and makes the final roster. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. NE: Kawaan Baker signs futures contract [Source: Patriots.com](=) Free-agent WR Kawaan Baker (Saints) signed a Reserve/Future contract with the New England Patriots, the team announced Tuesday, Feb. 6. Our view: A seventh-round pick of the Saints out of South Alabama (2021), Baker has been developing on the team's practice squad. He has bounced around to a couple of other teams (Packers, Eagles) but he'll get this spring to prove himself with the Patriots. He's got a nice size/speed combination and can be used as a 'big slot' for the offense. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. JAX: Cam Robinson's return no sure thing [Source: Jacksonville.com - Demetrius Harvey](=) Jacksonville Jaguars OT Cam Robinson is set to count for $21,168,157 against the team's salary cap in 2024. The Jaguars could save $17,279,412 against the cap by releasing him before June 1. When asked about Robinson's status with the team for next season, general manager Trent Baalke said he would 'not commit to anything right now.' Our view: The Jaguars have some cap situations to contend with this offseason. First, we'll see a new contract or franchise tag for EDGE Joshua Allen. Then, QB Trevor Lawrence may be in line for a big-money deal. To do these things, the Jaguars may have to move on from Robinson and take the $5 million cap hit. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. NYG: Shane Bowen to be new DC [Source: The Athletic - Dianna Russini]( Former Tennessee Titans defensive coordinator Shane Bowen has been hired by the New York Giants as their new defensive coordinator, according to a source. Our view: Bowen oversaw the Titans' defense over the last few seasons, and they generally finished in the middle of the pack. The Giants are bringing him on board to run their defense, and they could be exploring some other Titans' assistants to work under Bowen. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. BAL: Jerry Rosburg not expected to go to BAL [Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero]() Updating a previous report, assistant coach Jerry Rosburg is not expected to join the Baltimore Ravens after the two sides hit a snag in contract negotiations. Our view: Well, okay then. On Monday, it seemed like Rosburg was going to the Ravens where he could be another valuable and experienced voice on the staff. Now, things are canceled or at least on hold. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
