The Chiefs and 49ers get a couple of weeks to heal up and scheme for what looks to be a fantastic Super Bowl. Meanwhile, we have a few coaching moves as well as some player stories. Sit back and relax as we gather ourselves for the Big Game. Our Sigmund Bloom has the News and Notes. Let's Go. CLE: Cleveland hires Ken Dorsey as OC [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]( The Cleveland Browns are hiring Ken Dorsey (Bills) to fill the vacant offensive coordinator position, sources said Sunday, Jan. 28. Our view: The Browns acted decisively to secure Dorsey's services, as offensive coordinator spots around the league are being filled quickly. He was the scapegoat for the Bills offensive issues, but statistically, they didn't improve greatly under no longer interim offensive coordinator Joe Brady. We'll see which hire looks wiser next season. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. SF: Injury can't slow Deebo Samuel [Source: ESPN.com]() San Francisco 49ers WR Deebo Samuel (shoulder) caught eight of his nine targets for a team-high 89 yards in a 34-31 win over the Detroit Lions in the NFC Championship Game. Our view: Samuel came through at key moments and was the heart of the 49ers offense in the win. He has emphatically shown that his down 2022 was not the beginning of the end of his run as one of the best wide receivers in the league. [Back to Top](#top) [] 3. WAS: Mike MacDonald scheduled for Monday meeting [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]( Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike MacDonald is scheduled to meet Monday, Jan. 29 with Washington Commanders owner Josh Harris, general manager Adam Peters and other members of the team's leadership, to discuss the team's vacant head coaching position, sources said Sunday, Jan. 28. Our view: Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson has been seen as the favorite for this job, but lots can change once the interviews start. If MacDonald doesn't get hired as a head coach in this cycle, he'll likely remain a hot name next time around after putting the Ravens defense back at the top of the AFC. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. KC: Travis Kelce playing next year [Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher]() Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce recently confirmed he intends to play in 2024. Our view: "Intends to" is doing a lot of work here, but in dynasty leagues we should proceed as if Kelce will play in 2024 when valuing him in trades. If you try to trade him before the Super Bowl, you'll have to give a discount because of retirement rumors - rumors that could be confirmed before you have a chance to trade him if you don't do it before the showdown with the 49ers. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. TB: Alex Van Pelt meeting with Bucs [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport](=) Former Cleveland Browns offensive coordinator Alex Van Pelt is meeting with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Monday, Jan. 29, for their offensive coordinator position. Our view: The Bucs lost their offensive coordinator, Dave Canales, to the Panthers, who hired him as their new head coach. Brian Johnson (formerly Eagles), Jerrod Johnson (Texans), Antwaan Randle-el (Lions), and Jake Peetz (Rams) are also on the team's interest list. Last year, they interviewed 10 candidates before deciding on Canales. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. SEA: Mike Macdonald meeting with Seahawks [Source: ESPN.com - Dan Graziano]() Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike Macdonald is scheduled to interview with the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday, Jan. 30. Our view: The Seahawks head coach job was expected to go to Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn, but they haven't hired hin, so this move indicates that they wanted to talk to MacDonald before finalizing their decision. Either way, it looks like a defensive-minded coach will be replacing Pete Carroll. [Back to Top](#top) 🚨 SELL HIGH on These Players in Dynasty! (Before It's Too Late!) Alfredo Brown and Dave Kluge discuss which players you need to sell high in dynasty fantasy football. Make these trades now, before it's too late! 👀 [[youtube]]()[[podcast]]([[spotify]](=) [] 7. BAL: Lamar Jackson fails again in playoffs [Source: ESPN]() Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson completed 20-of-37 passes for 272 yards, one touchdown and one interception in the AFC Championship Game loss against the Kansas City Chiefs, while rushing eight times for 54 yards with one lost fumble. Our view: Jackson was uneven, but still good enough to win if the Ravens hadn't shot themselves in the foot with penalties and miscues in the red zone. It will be hard for him to shake the postseason underachiever label after this one, but he'll almost certainly get another chance to rewrite his legacy next season. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. DET: Sam LaPorta leads passing game [Source: ESPN.com]() Detroit Lions TE Sam LaPorta led the team in catches, targets and receiving yards in the NFC Championship Game, finishing with nine receptions on 13 targets for 97 yards in a 34-31 loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Our view: LaPorta wasn't 100% in the playoffs, but he was still very impactful. He's a candidate to go #1 at tight end in 2024 fantasy drafts after one of the best rookie tight end seasons in NFL history. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. KC: Travis Kelce puts on clinic in Charm City [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]( Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce hauled in 11 receptions for 116 yards and a touchdown on 11 targets in the AFC Championship Game victory against the Baltimore Ravens. Kelce now has 156 receptions in 21 postseason games, passing Hall of Fame WR Jerry Rice for the most catches in NFL playoff history. Our view: Kelce finally looked like the dominant player we expected to see when he was going in the top half of the first round of fantasy drafts last summer. Even though his numbers were disappointing this year, he is countering the player in decline narrative with a strong postseason. [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. BAL: Zay Flowers hits triple digits in AFC title game [Source: ESPN]() Baltimore Ravens WR Zay Flowers racked up five receptions for 115 yards and a touchdown on eight targets in the AFC Championship Game against the Kansas City Chiefs, and he ran twice for four yards while being credited with a lost fumble. Our view: It was the best of times and the worst of times for Flowers, who was the only consistent producer in the Ravens offense all afternoon. He got a taunting penalty to slow down the team's momentum after a long catch. That drive ended with Flowers fumbling at the goal line. Flowers also scored the team's only touchdown on an improvised deep ball and has the look of a player whose value will only grow in the future. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks.
