I love the Wild Card Round but this coming week should be fantastic. Our Cecil Lammey has some News and Notes. Let's go. BAL: Mark Andrews making a push to play? [Source: Around The NFL]( Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews (ankle) had a good day at practice and 'really took a big step,' according to head coach John Harbaugh on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Harbaugh added 'we will see how it goes' when asked about the possibility of Andrews playing in the AFC Divisional Round game versus the Houston Texans on Saturday, Jan. 20. Our view: There's still time this week so keep an eye on this. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. SF: Christian McCaffrey to practice without limitation [Source: The Athletic - Matt Barrows]() San Francisco 49ers RB Christian McCaffrey (calf) is expected to practice in full on Wednesday, Jan. 17. Our view: Great news for the 49ers here. McCaffrey got some rest last week during the 49ers' bye week, and now he'll be ready to rock in the Divisional Round. The 49ers play at home on Saturday against the Packers, and Green Bay's top priority will be figuring out a way to slow down McCaffrey. [Back to Top](#top) [] 3. NO: Pete Carmichael gets the boot [Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero]( New Orleans Saints offensive coordinator Pete Carmichael was fired Tuesday, Jan. 16. Our view: The Saints needed to make changes to Dennis Allen's staff, and Carmichael gets dismissed so they could move forward in a different direction. Carmichael had been with the Saints since 2006, so expect Broncos HC Sean Payton to perhaps have a job for him on the staff in Denver. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. WAS: Adam Peters officially hired [Source: Commanders.com - Zach Selby](=) San Francisco 49ers assistant general manager Adam Peters was officially hired by the Washington Commanders Monday, Jan. 15, as their new general manager. Our view: Peters has been an up-and-coming executive for some time now. He's done great work with the Broncos years ago, and for the past few years, he's been the right-hand man of 49ers GM John Lynch. Now, Peters gets to run his show. He'll be heavily involved with finding a new head coach and a new quarterback for the Commanders. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. CAR: Raheem Morris meeting with Panthers [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport]() Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris will interview for the Carolina Panthers head coaching vacancy Wednesday, Jan. 17. Our view: Morris has been working diligently to get back to a head coach in this league. He was the main man for the Buccaneers, but he didn't last long as their head coach (2009-2011). The Panthers are in search of a new head coach, and Morris may be pegged as the right man to lead them into the future. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. CAR: Ben Johnson to talk with Carolina soon [Source: The Athletic - Joe Person]( Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Benjamin Johnson is scheduled to have a virtual interview with the Carolina Panthers on Friday, Jan. 19. Our view: The Panthers have to find someone who can work with QB Bryce Young. The no1 pick in the 2023 NFL draft did not flash much at all as a rookie. Johnson has gotten great play from QB Jared Goff, so perhaps he'd be able to do the same with a smart passer like Young. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. SEA: Seattle requests Dan Quinn HC interview [Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero]() Dallas Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn was requested to interview for the Seattle Seahawks head coach vacancy, according to sources Monday, Jan. 15. Our view: This was the expected landing spot for Quinn after Pete Carroll announced he was moving on from being the Seahawks head coach. Quinn may be the front-runner, but Seattle is doing the most to find the right fit as they move forward post Carroll. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. MIA: Miami still backing Tua Tagovailoa long-term [Source: NFL.com - Kevin Patra]( Miami Dolphins QB Tua Tagovailoa is set to enter the final year of his rookie contract - a fifth-year team option set to pay him $23.171 million in 2024. Our view: Tagovailoa works well in the system Mike McDaniel has put in place. It's all about "fit" in this league, and there's no doubt the two can post good numbers together. Dolphins GM Chris Grier noted on Tuesday, Jan. 16, that the team and Tagovailoa have had conversations about a long-term contract and that the club plans for Tagovailoa to be their quarterback long-term. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. MIA: Mike McDaniel open to giving up play-calling [Source: Pro Football Network - Adam Beasley]( Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel told reporters 'we failed to reach our goals this year' and 'play-calling doesn't live outside of that' when asked about the possibility of relinquishing play-calling duties on Tuesday, Jan. 16. Our view: McDaniel is not beholden to anything, even if that means someone else is calling the plays. The Dolphins have a ton of talent, but they need to prove they can beat good-to-great teams consistently. Beating the Broncos by 50 is one thing, but playing good football in the playoffs is something completely different. [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. WAS: Ben Johnson to meet with Washington virtually [Source: The Athletic - Joe Person]( Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Benjamin Johnson is scheduled to have a virtual interview with the Washington Commanders on Friday, Jan. 19. Our view: Johnson is one of the hottest names out there as teams search for head coaches. He's guiding the Lions' offense through the postseason, and the team is trying to make a run for the Super Bowl. With what Johnson has been able to get out of QB Jared Goff, it certainly has drawn a lot of attention to his skill as a coach who can get the best out of the players on the roster.
