We're on to Wildcard Sunday. But instead of three games today, we only have two. More details below where Cecil Lammey has the News and Notes you need. Let's go. J Inside This Issue [] - [BUF: Playoff Game against Pittsburgh Postponed](#article-1) - [PHI: A.J. Brown won't play](#article-2) - [BAL: Zay Flowers misses practice](#article-3) - [LVR: Maxx Crosby could ask for trade](#article-4) - [JAX: Evan Engram busy in 2023](#article-5) - [JAX: Interested in Martindale](#article-6) - [WAS: Sam Howell took a beating](#article-7) [] 1. BUF: Playoff Game against Pittsburgh Postponed [Source: New York Governor Kathy Hochul](=) New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced that the Pittsburgh Steelers versus Buffalo Bills Wild Card game will be postponed from Sunday to Monday due to extreme weather. Our view: The NFL is taking action here, and Hochul has worked closely with Commissioner Roger Goodell to make this decision. The extreme weather in Buffalo has caused a travel ban over the weekend. Hopefully, the weather clears up for Monday's contest. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. PHI: A.J. Brown won't play [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]( Philadelphia Eagles WR A.J. Brown (knee) will be ruled out for the wild-card game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, per sources on Saturday, Jan. 13. Our view: Brown has a sprained knee, and he's not going to be available on Monday against the Buccaneers. That means the Eagles will move WR DeVonta Smith to their no1 position. If they advance, we'll see if Brown can get back out there. That's a big "if" with the way the Eagles have been playing recently. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) [] 3. BAL: Zay Flowers misses practice [Source: The Athletic - Jeff Zrebiec]() Baltimore Ravens WR Zay Flowers (calf) did not participate in practice Friday, Jan. 12. Our view: Flowers is a fantastic rookie, and the 2023 first-round pick certainly flashed amazing ability this year. He is only going to get better, and this season the Boston College prospect caught 77 passes for 858 yards and five touchdowns in 16 games. He's getting some rest with the Ravens on bye, but Flowers is the type of player who could make lasting memories in the postseason as Baltimore pushes for a Super Bowl. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. LVR: Maxx Crosby could ask for trade [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport]() Las Vegas Raiders DE Maxx Crosby will ask to be traded if the team doesn't hire interim head coach Antonio Pierce as their next full-time head coach, per sources on Saturday, Jan. 13. Our view: Big-name players have come to Pierce's defense, and Raiders owner Mark Davis may be listening this time. The last time they had an interim head coach the players liked (Rich Bisaccia), Davis instead decided to hire Josh McDaniels. That was an utter disaster as per usual when McDaniels is a head coach. Now, Pierce should be their guy. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. JAX: Evan Engram busy in 2023 [Source: The Athletic - Jacob Robinson]( Jacksonville Jaguars TE Evan Engram led all tight ends and finished fourth in the NFL with 114 receptions in 2023. Our view: Engram flourished with the Jaguars this past season. His 114 receptions bested his previous career high (73) from his first year in Jacksonville (2022), and his 963 receiving yards were a career-high as well. Engram has the trust of QB Trevor Lawrence, and Fantasy GMs can trust him as a mid-range TE1 in 2024 drafts. If his touchdowns increase (four touchdowns in 2023, four touchdowns in 2022), then his fantasy value would increase to top-tier range. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. JAX: Interested in Martindale [Source: Ian Rapoport - NFL Network]() Ian Rapoport, from NFL Network, reports the Jacksonville Jaguars are expected to speak to former Giants DC Don 'Wink' Martindale next week. Our view: Martindale seemed to have a falling out with Giants HC Brian Daboll, but he's likely to get plenty of interest from teams in need of a defensive coordinator. The Jaguars could use Martindale's aggressive style of defense, especially since the talented quarterbacks within the division. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. WAS: Sam Howell took a beating [Source: The Athletic - Jacob Robinson]( Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell was sacked an NFL-high 65 times during the 2023 season. Our view: Howell is a decent quarterback, but we learned in 2023 that he should be a high-value backup instead of a regular starter. He started all 17 games for the Commanders in 2023, but he was replaced late in games by Jacoby Brissett (who looked better). Brissett was in line to start late in the season but a hamstring injury suffered in practice knocked him out of action. Still on his rookie contract, Howell is under the Commanders' control in 2024 and 2025. His cap hit in 2024 is just over $1 million. With the no2 overall pick in the 2024 NFL draft, the Commanders should be in the quarterback market (Drake Maye, North Carolina?). So, Howell is likely back where he should be; holding a clipboard. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update.
