It's a big weekend of Football and we're here for you as our Cecil Lammey has the News and Notes you need. Let's Go. J = = Inside This Issue [] - [LAC: Changes to Chargers backfield?](#article-1) - [JAX: Trevor Lawrence back to work on Thursday with limited practice](#article-2) - [NO: Derek Carr unlikely to play?](#article-3) - [KC: Another DNP for Isiah Pacheco](#article-4) - [CAR: Serious issue for Hayden Hurst](#article-5) - [JAX: Travis Etienne remains limited](#article-6) - [BAL: Lamar Jackson not at practice on Thursday](#article-7) - [IND: Indy's Thursday practice report](#article-8) - [BUF: Dawson Knox pronounces himself fit](#article-9) - [HOU: Dalton Schultz a no-go on Thursday](#article-10) - [BUF: Deep balls an issue for Josh Allen?](#article-11) - [NYJ: Breece Hall not practicing Thursday](#article-12) - [MIA: Raheem Mostert sits out practice on Thursday](#article-13) - [GB: Aaron Jones begins week with a limited session](#article-14) [] 1. LAC: Changes to Chargers backfield? [Source: ESPN.com - Kris Rhim](=) Los Angeles Chargers RB Austin Ekeler could find himself in a 'competition for carries' amid the team's struggle to run the ball effectively, head coach Brandon Staley told reporters Thursday, Dec. 7. Our view: Ekeler is playing banged up, and he's not performing up to his usual standards. That's why the Chargers are perhaps going to give a guy like Joshua Kelley more work. We'll see if this supposed split begins against the Broncos on Sunday. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. JAX: Trevor Lawrence back to work on Thursday with limited practice [Source: Jaguars.com](=) Jacksonville Jaguars QB Trevor Lawrence (ankle) was limited in practice on Thursday, Dec. 7. Our view: The talk had been C.J. Beathard starting this week for the Jaguars. Lawrence is out there testing his high-ankle sprain. A high-ankle sprain is obviously a significant issue but there could be a chance he sees time soon. No determination has been made yet for this week. Let's watch closely to see what he's able to do Friday. [Back to Top](#top) = = [] 3. NO: Derek Carr unlikely to play? [Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler](=) New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr (ribs, shoulder, concussion) is 'looking like a long shot' to play against the Carolina Panthers in Week 14, according to a source. Our view: That sounds about right. Carr just is fighting too many issues to make it out there in Week 14. That means Jameis Winston gets the start against the Panthers. We have him in the QB2 range (around QB20), so only Fantasy GMs in start-2QB/SuperFlex leagues would be considering him. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. KC: Another DNP for Isiah Pacheco [Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher]() Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) will sit out for a second consecutive practice on Thursday, Dec. 7, due to a shoulder contusion, according to ESPN.com's Adam Teicher. Our view: Pacheco is the angriest runner in the league, and he's going to run with little regard for his body. Let's see if he can practice on Friday. Clyde Edwards-Helaire could be in line for more work. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. CAR: Serious issue for Hayden Hurst [Source: ESPN.com - David Newton](=) Carolina Panthers TE Hayden Hurst (concussion) has been diagnosed with Post Traumatic Amnesia and faces a 'slow recovery' with no timetable for a return, Hurst's father announced Wednesday, Dec. 6. Our view: Wishing Hurst the best here as he deals with this issue. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. JAX: Travis Etienne remains limited [Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan]( Jacksonville Jaguars RB Travis Etienne (ribs) was limited during practice Thursday, Dec. 7. Our view: Keep an eye on Etienne to see what he's able to do Friday. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. BAL: Lamar Jackson not at practice on Thursday [Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley]() Baltimore Ravens QB Lamar Jackson (undisclosed) was not spotted on the field at the portion of practice open to the media on Thursday, Dec. 7. Our view: We're not worried about this missed practice...yet. Let's see what he can do on Friday, but this is Jackson's first missed practice of the year. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. IND: Indy's Thursday practice report [Source: Colts.com]( Indianapolis Colts OT Braden Smith (knee), LB E.J. Speed (knee) and RB Jonathan Taylor (thumb) did not practice on Thursday, Dec. 7. CB Julius Brents (quad), DT DeForest Buckner (shoulder), DE Tyquan Lewis (ankle) and CB Ameer Speed (hip) were limited. DT Grover Stewart (non-injury) practiced in full. Our view: Taylor's status has been up in the air, but no practice on Thursday means he's likely to miss another game. That means Zack Moss should get plenty of work in Week 14. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. BUF: Dawson Knox pronounces himself fit [Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Myles Simmons]() Buffalo Bills TE Dawson Knox (wrist) told reporters on Wednesday, Dec. 6, that his surgically repaired wrist feels 'great' and that his time on the Reserve/Injured list has his body feeling 'fresh.' Our view: Well, okay then! Knox will be back for this huge contest against the Chiefs in Week 14. With Knox's return, Dalton Kincaid may lose some snaps and targets. [Back to Top](#top) The best things sent in the Footballguys Group Chat today: - 🍝 Tommy Devito [has the answer for what is the best Italian dish.]() - 😂 Zach Wilson is starting this week. [We’ll see how that works out for the Jets.]() - 🤕 A picture is worth a thousand words. [This sums up all the injuries this season.]() - 🤝 They say never meet your heroes. [Nyheim Hines thought differently.](=) - 🎤 Here we go! [Dak mic’d up is kinda hilarious.](=) [] 10. HOU: Dalton Schultz a no-go on Thursday [Source: KPRC.com - Aaron Wilson]() Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (hamstring) was not spotted on the field at the portion of practice open to the media on Thursday, Dec. 7. Our view: A DNP after a limited practice on Wednesday is something to keep an eye on. If Schultz has to miss another game, the Texans can go back to Brevin Jordan who was productive against the Broncos in Week 13. [Back to Top](#top) [] 11. BUF: Deep balls an issue for Josh Allen? [Source: ESPN.com - Alaina Getzenberg](=) Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen has 13 interceptions this season, and 10 have come on throws that travel 15 or more air yards. Our view: Allen is too often playing "hero ball" out there on the football field. The Bills need to pick and choose when Allen is taking those deep shots. They have talent, and they have a ground game they could lean on more. Striving for consistency and balance could be the key as they try to climb and fight and claw their way into the postseason. [Back to Top](#top) [] 12. NYJ: Breece Hall not practicing Thursday [Source: ESPN.com - Rich Cimini]( New York Jets RB Breece Hall (ankle) is not practicing Thursday, Dec. 7. Our view: Keep an eye on Hall's practice status on Friday. It looks like we may see more of Dalvin Cook going forward. [Back to Top](#top) [] 13. MIA: Raheem Mostert sits out practice on Thursday [Source: The Miami Herald - Daniel Oyefusi]( Miami Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (ankle, knee) did not practice on Thursday, Dec. 7. Our view: The Dolphins play on Monday night, so perhaps Mostert is just getting some rest here. As always with Monday games, let's see what the injured players (like Mostert) do on Saturday. [Back to Top](#top) [] 14. GB: Aaron Jones begins week with a limited session [Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky](=) Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones (knee) was limited in practice on Thursday, Dec. 7. Our view: That's a start for Jones. He's talented but this has been a lost season as he's been in-and-out of the lineup. Let's see what he can do on Saturday. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update.
