It's crunch time and our Cecil Lammey has the News and Notes you need. Let's Go. J = = Inside This Issue [] - [CAR: Frank Reich fired](#article-1) - [CAR: Josh McCown, Duce Staley fired](#article-2) - [MIN: Justin Jefferson back Dec. 10](#article-3) - [NYG: Daniel Jones the guy](#article-4) - [TB: Baker Mayfield MRI negative](#article-5) - [CLE: Amari Cooper expected to be fine](#article-6) - [GB: Aaron Jones not practicing Monday](#article-7) - [NO: Rashid Shaheed unlikely for Week 13](#article-8) - [CIN: Full recovery expected for Joe Burrow](#article-9) - [CIN: Tee Higgins has chance to play Week 13](#article-10) [] 1. CAR: Frank Reich fired [Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero]() Carolina Panthers head coach Frank Reich was fired Monday, Nov. 27. Our view: Reich was on the hot seat as the season went on, and a loss to the Titans on Sunday was the last straw for owner Dave Tepper. Even Jerry Jones thinks Tepper is meddlesome as an owner, and there have been rumblings that Reich wanted CJ Stroud but the call to draft Bryce Young was all Tepper. We still like Young, but the Panthers must protect the 2023 no.1 overall pick much better before he gets beat up or starts seeing ghosts. Special teams coordinator Chris Tabor is expected to take over as interim head coach for the remainder of the season. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. CAR: Josh McCown, Duce Staley fired [Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero]() Carolina Panthers quarterbacks coach Josh McCown and running backs coach Duce Staley were fired Monday, Nov. 27. Our view: The Panthers are cleaning house on Monday. HC Frank Reich was fired, and now two of his assistants are gone as well. McCown was supposed to get the best out of no.1 overall pick, QB Bryce Young, but he's fallen short in that department. Young does not look like the player he did in college, meanwhile no.2 overall pick CJ Stroud is crushing it with the Texans. [Back to Top](#top) = = [] 3. MIN: Justin Jefferson back Dec. 10 [Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero]( Minnesota Vikings WR Justin Jefferson (hamstring) won't be activated to play Monday, Nov. 27, but he is expected to be 100 percent after the bye week. He's expected to play Dec. 10 against the Las Vegas Raiders. Our view: Jefferson has been working his way back from this troublesome hamstring injury. He's been close to returning, but the team does not want the superstar to suffer any setbacks. Jefferson has been out of action since he injured his hamstring in Week 5. Fantasy GMs have been managing without him, and a return in Week 14 means he can help in the fantasy playoffs - and hopefully, Jefferson's GMs have made it that far. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. NYG: Daniel Jones the guy [Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan]() New York Giants QB Daniel Jones (knee) will be the team's starting quarterback when he is healthy, according to general manager Joe Schoen. Our view: No surprise here. Jones reached a four-year, $160 million extension with the Giants in March. He's got a cap number of $47.1 million in 2024, and there is still a whopping $69.3 million left in dead money. There is an out in his contract after the 2024 season, so the Giants may look at drafting a quarterback to be developed behind Jones. With his knee surgery and the 10-month recovery, Jones should be ready for action at some time in training camp. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. TB: Baker Mayfield MRI negative [Source: NFL.com]() Tampa Bay Buccaneers QB Baker Mayfield (ankle) had a negative MRI on his ankle injury, according to sources Monday, Nov. 27. Our view: Mayfield was banged up in Week 12, but the MRI reveals this is a minor injury. He should be brought back slowly during the week of practice in preparation for the Panthers in Week 13. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. CLE: Amari Cooper expected to be fine [Source: NFL.com]() Cleveland Browns WR Amari Cooper (ribs) is expected to be fine after undergoing X-rays on his injured ribs, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. Our view: Good news here for Cooper and this offense. [Back to Top](#top) The best things sent in the Footballguys Group Chat today: - 🤷‍♂️ Breaking NFL records? GB: Aaron Jones not practicing Monday [Source: Packers.com - Mike Spofford]( Green Bay Packers RB Aaron Jones (knee) did not participate in practice Monday, Nov. 27, according to sources. Our view: Jones suffered a knee injury in Week 11, and he didn't play in Week 12. The Packers are at home in Week 13 for Sunday Night Football. Let's see if he can practice this week. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. NO: Rashid Shaheed unlikely for Week 13 [Source: NewOrleans.Football - Nick Underhill](=) New Orleans Saints WR Rashid Shaheed (quad) is unlikely to play in Week 13 against the Detroit Lions, according to sources Monday, Nov. 27. Our view: The Saints have injuries at the wide receiver position. It's time for guys like AT Perry to elevate their game if needed. We love Perry's game, and our very own Cecil Lammey compared him to Tim Patrick when he watched the rookie at the East-West Shrine Bowl earlier this year. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. CIN: Full recovery expected for Joe Burrow [Source: NFL.com]() Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (wrist) is expected to make a full recovery from his surgery, according to sources Monday, Nov. 27. Our view: There still is no timetable for his return. Burrow just needs to get healthy, stay healthy, and push the Bengals to the Super Bowl again. He's expected to make a full recover, and this is not a long-term issue. We'll see Burrow out there for the start of the 2024 season, but when he can get back to practice is unknown. [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. CIN: Tee Higgins has chance to play Week 13 [Source: NFL Network - Cameron Wolfe]( Cincinnati Bengals WR Tee Higgins (hamstring) has a chance to play in Week 13 against the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to sources Monday, Nov. 27. Our view: Higgins' return would help, but with Jake Browning at quarterback, there's only so much that can be expected from this passing game. We haven't seen Higgins out there since Week 9. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for sharing some of your day with us. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update.
