Plus - Taylor Heinicke To Start At QB For Atlanta  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ [Footballguys Email Updates]() 11/02/23 [Unsubscribe |]( [Read Online]() | [Join]( | [GO PRO](=) Howdy {NAME}, Here we go as we race toward Thursday Night. They have helped me dominate my league to the point that I'm called the Evil Empire by my league mates" - Rick Himes @bigisland31 [] 1. LVR: Aidan O'Connell may start [Source: Las Vegas Review-Journal - Vincent Bonsignore]() Las Vegas Raiders QB Aidan O'Connell is the favorite to start in Week 9 against the New York Giants, according to sources. Our view: O'Connell should have been starting this whole time. With Jimmy Garoppolo banged up, the Raiders had no business starting Brian Hoyer. O'Connell has upside, and with time he could be a solid starter. He needs experience while Hoyer is a backup-caliber quarterback. Now that Josh McDaniels is fired, O'Connell should be the starter for the rest of the regular season. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. LVR: Las Vegas cans head coach, GM [Source: Raiders.com](=) Las Vegas Raiders head coach Josh McDaniels and general manager Dave Ziegler were fired on Tuesday, Oct. 31. According to sources, linebackers coach Antonio Pierce is expected to be named the interim head coach. Our view: Josh McDaniels is tough to get along with, and his concepts don't work unless he's with the Patriots and Tom Brady is his quarterback. He's unlikely to be a head coach in this league again after failing with the Broncos and now with the Raiders in that capacity. [Back to Top](#top) = = [] 3. ATL: Taylor Heinicke to start [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]( Atlanta Falcons QB Taylor Heinicke was named the starting quarterback Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Desmond Ridder goes to the bench now that Heinicke is taking over. Heinicke has a never-say-die attitude that can help him make plays (and get him in trouble). The change at quarterback could help spark the offense, so Fantasy GMs should note who Heinicke prefers tossing the ball to. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. BUF: Josh Allen limited [Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo]() Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen (shoulder) will be limited in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: This shoulder problem is going to limit Allen on Wednesdays. However, he should be good to go in Week 9 as the Bills travel to play the Bengals on Sunday night. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. ATL: Drake London day-to-day [Source: NFL.com](=) Atlanta Falcons WR Drake London (groin) is considered day-to-day after suffering a groin injury in Week 8, head coach Arthur Smith said on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: London could get a boost now that QB Taylor Heinicke is starting. However, he needs to be healthy to thrive and that's not the case. Let's see what he can do as the week of practice continues. The Falcons are at home to face the Vikings in Week 9. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. CLE: Deshaun Watson to be limited [Source: NFL Network - Andrew Siciliano]( Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson will be limited at practice on Wednesday, Nov. 1, head coach Kevin Stefanski said. Our view: Watson might be back in action over the next few weeks. Reports indicate this shoulder problem is not going to be a long-term issue. However, it's been troubling Watson and has kept him out of action in all but four games this year. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. PIT: No designation for Kenny Pickett [Source: Steelers.com - Teresa Varley](=) Pittsburgh Steelers QB Kenny Pickett (rib) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is not on the injury report for Week 9. Our view: Rib injuries always come down to pain tolerance. Pickett is one tough cookie, and it looks like he will be out there against the Titans on Thursday night. Now, if only the Steelers could get a better offensive coordinator to help out their young quarterback. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. CHI: Justin Fields still not practicing [Source: ChicagoBears.com]() Chicago Bears QB Justin Fields (thumb) did not practice on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: The Bears are going with Tyson Bagent in Week 9 against the Saints. Fields has a chance to return to the lineup on Thursday Night Football in Week 10 against the Panthers. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. MIN: Kirk Cousins has successful surgery [Source: NFL.com](=) Minnesota Vikings QB Kirk Cousins (Achilles) underwent successful surgery to repair his torn Achilles' tendon on Wednesday, Nov. 1. He is out for the rest of the season. Our view: Now, the future is up in the air for Cousins. His surgery means that Cousins should be ready to go next year in training camp. The question is about where he's going to be. Cousins is set to be a free agent in 2024, but he should have plenty of interest as a starting option for teams in search of a veteran presence. [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. NYG: Darren Waller expected to miss time [Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan]( Updating a previous report, New York Giants TE Darren Waller (hamstring) said he could potentially miss multiple weeks with his hamstring injury but isn't sure exactly how many, he told reporters on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Waller said, "It may be a little bit," before he is able to return from his hamstring injury. In fact, the veteran tight end said he could miss weeks due to this problem. The Giants will turn to Daniel Bellinger as their lead tight end, and he provides TE2 value for Fantasy GMs out there. [Back to Top](#top) [] 11. CLE: Jerome Ford limited [Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban]( Cleveland Browns RB Jerome Ford (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Ford played with this ankle issue last week, so he should be expected to play once again this week. The Browns have an RBBC in place, so Fantasy GMs should temper expectations for anyone in this backfield until someone (likely Ford) emerges. [Back to Top](#top) [] 12. NE: DeVante Parker sits out [Source: Patriots.com]() New England Patriots WR DeVante Parker (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Parker could be more involved in the offense going forward now that Kendrick Bourne (knee) is out for the year. He must get through the concussion protocol first, so stay tuned to his practice status. In the meantime, rookie WR Demario Douglas looks to step into a larger role for the Patriots going forward. [Back to Top](#top) [] 13. LAR: Darrell Henderson promoted [Source: Rams.com](=) Los Angeles Rams RB Darrell Henderson was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster on Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: The Rams' backfield is a bit of a mess right now. They had Royce Freeman as their lead back last week, and Henderson got some work as a backup. Myles Gaskin is also there, and he could do more if asked. Now, reports indicate Henderson could be the starter in Week 9. The Rams may be without QB Matthew Stafford, so it could be tough sledding for any back carrying the rock for the team. [Back to Top](#top) [] 14. CLE: David Njoku misses practice [Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban]( Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Njoku was briefly on the injury report last week with a knee issue. Now, he's got an ankle injury that must be bothering him. Let's see what he can do on Friday at the latest. PHI: Julio Jones to active roster [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]( Philadelphia Eagles WR Julio Jones was signed from the practice squad to the 53-man roster Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Jones isn't the same player he used to be, but the Eagles can use him near pay dirt as they did in Week 8. He caught 1-of-2 targets for eight yards and one touchdown in the Eagles' win over the Commanders. There's not much here from a fantasy perspective. [Back to Top](#top) [] 16. HOU: No practice for Dameon Pierce [Source: NFLCommunications.com]() Houston Texans RB Dameon Pierce (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Texans HC DeMeco Ryans would not elaborate on Pierce's status for Week 9. They might be going with Devin Singletary as their lead back if Pierce is unable to practice this week. [Back to Top](#top) [] 17. MIN: K.J. Osborn listed as limited [Source: NFLCommunications.com]() Minnesota Vikings WR K.J. Osborn (chest) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Osborn had a team-high 10 targets last week, catching eight passes for 99 yards. Rookie QB Jaren Hall draws the start this week, so that negatively impacts the fantasy potential for guys like Osborn in the passing game. [Back to Top](#top) [] 18. DAL: Michael Gallup misses practice [Source: NFL Network - Jane Slater]( Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup (illness) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: The Cowboys are on the road in Week 9 against the Eagles. They could use all the help they can get in this matchup. We'll see if Gallup can get back out there to practice on Thursday or Friday. [Back to Top](#top) [] 19. NO: Limited practice for Taysom Hill [Source: NewOrleans.Football - Nick Underhill]() New Orleans Saints QB Taysom Hill (hip) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Hill is a bit banged up, but the Saints will continue using him as a gadget player. Juwan Johnson was banged up in Week 3, and missed some time, but returned to the field in Week 8 and played 40 snaps. With Johnson's return, Hill will see his usage changed. [Back to Top](#top) [] 20. WAS: Curtis Samuel does not practice [Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan]( Washington Commanders WR Curtis Samuel (toe) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Fantasy GMs who plucked WR Jahan Dotson off the waiver wire need to monitor Samuel's status. If Samuel is out against the Patriots, Dotson could get a larger role and would have flex appeal in Week 9. [Back to Top](#top) [] 21. ATL: Drake London to sit out Wednesday [Source: NFL.com](=) Atlanta Falcons WR Drake London (groin) will not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: He's considered day-to-day with this groin injury. London could get a boost now that QB Taylor Heinicke is starting. However, he needs to be healthy to thrive and that's not the case. Let's see what he can do as the week of practice continues. The Falcons are at home to face the Vikings in Week 9. [Back to Top](#top) [] 22. HOU: Robert Woods not expected to play [Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson]( Houston Texans WR Robert Woods (foot) will not practice on Wednesday, Nov. 1, and is expected to miss the Week 9 game, per source. Our view: Woods will miss another game, and he might need one more week after that. The Texans have Nico Collins as their top wideout, then Noah Brown and Tank Dell will compete for targets behind him in their passing game. [Back to Top](#top) [] 23. NYG: Daniel Jones takes part in practice [Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan]( New York Giants QB Daniel Jones (neck) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Jones was cleared for contact on Sunday, but he didn't play as Tyrod Taylor got another start. Now, traveling to Las Vegas for a game against the Raiders, Jones should be out there as the starter. [Back to Top](#top) [] 24. NYG: Saquon Barkley a limited participant [Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan]( New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) was limited during practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Barkley carried the ball 36 times against the Jets in Week 8. There's no question he's getting a bit of rest here during practice on Wednesday...perhaps on Thursday too. However, he should be good to go for the Giants game against the Raiders in Week 9. [Back to Top](#top) [] 25. KC: Patrick Mahomes takes part in practice [Source: NFLCommunications.com]() Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes (hand) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Mahomes injured his hand in the loss to the Broncos on Sunday. He played through the injury, and he'll play again this weekend against the Dolphins in Germany. [Back to Top](#top) [] 26. MIA: Raheem Mostert not on field Wednesday [Source: Pro Football Network - Adam H. Beasley]( Miami Dolphins RB Raheem Mostert (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Nov. 1. Our view: Just like last week, Mostert is out on Wednesday. However, just like last week, we should see him practice on Thursday and Friday. That means he should be good to go in a huge game against the Chiefs in Germany on Sunday. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks.
