[PHI - RB LeGarrette Blount unimpressive so far](#22) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 1. [TEN - WR Eric Decker sprains ankle]() Source: TitansOnline.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans WR [Eric Decker](=) (ankle) suffered an ankle injury during practice Wednesday, Aug. 16. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] So long as it's not a high-ankle sprain then we should see Decker shut down for just a bit to recover. Head coach Mike Mularkey said he does not believe Decker's injury is serious. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [DET - WR Kenny Golladay works with starters]( Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett Detroit Lions WR Kenny Golladay worked exclusively with the first-team offense during practice Wednesday, Aug. 16, when they lined up in three-receiver sets. He lined up as an outside receiver. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Golladay is a talented rookie WR from Northern Illinois that the Lions selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL draft. He's fast, can get by the defense quickly and has the body control to make difficult catches. The no3 WR for the Lions isn't a fantasy force, but we love the dynasty potential of this rookie. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NYJ - Full practice for RB Bilal Powell]() Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini New York Jets RB [Bilal Powell](=) (neck) fully participated in practice Wednesday, Aug. 16. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Powell is back in action and the Jets will use him in a RBBC with Matt Forte. That committee limits the fantasy values of both backs. Powell is RB25 (5.11) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NYJ - RB Matt Forte remains limited]() Source: ESPNNewYork.com - Rich Cimini New York Jets RB [Matt Forte](=) (hamstring) was limited to individual drills during practice Wednesday, Aug. 16, and is not expected to play in the preseason game against the Detroit Lions Saturday, Aug. 19. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There's no need to get Forte out there when he's not at full strength. The seasoned veteran doesn't need a ton of reps in the preseason. Forte is backing up Bilal Powell but will earn snaps in a RBBC. Forte is RB49 (11.04) in 12-team PPR leagues. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [ARI - WR Jaron Brown the No. 2]() Source: AZCardinals.com - Darren Urban Arizona Cardinals WR [Jaron Brown](=) is the second wide receiver on the depth chart, according to head coach Bruce Arians. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] With John Brown nursing a quad injury through camp, Jaron Brown has emerged as the second wide receiver. Arians did say the spot for Jaron Brown was "for now" so keep that in mind as John Brown gets healthier. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 6. [CHI - QB Mike Glennon the strong favorite](=) Source: Chicago Tribune - Brad Biggs Chicago Bears QB [Mike Glennon](=) is the strong favorite to open the season as the starter based on everything the team has said, in the opinion of beat writer Brad Biggs. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Glennon should be the starter at the beginning of the regular season. The team spent a lot of money to add him in free agency earlier this year. However, we don't think Glennon finishes the season as the starter. At some point, rookie first-round pick Mitchell Trubisky should take over. He's the future of the team and has looked great so far in the preseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [WAS - RB Samaje Perine not a threat to start yet]() Source: ESPN.com - John Keim Washington Redskins RB Samaje Perine has to work on becoming more consistent in protection, and coaches say he's still thinking too much when running the ball, according to ESPN.com's John Keim, who writes 'there is a gap' between Perine and [Rob Kelley](=). [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] An important note for fantasy owners here. Perine is an exciting rookie from Oklahoma, mainly because of his power and strength. At this time, Kelley should be the main man for Washington with Perine mixing in as the season goes along. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [PIT - WR JuJu Smith-Schuster leaves early]() Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Pittsburgh Steelers WR JuJu Smith-Schuster (undisclosed) left practice early Wednesday, Aug. 16, after suffering an undisclosed injury. He was on the ground for a few minutes but was able to walk off on his own. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Smith-Schuster suffered a concussion during the team's first preseason game. He missed just a bit of time but then returned to action. This appears to be a leg injury and isn't thought to be serious. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [NYJ - WR Lucky Whitehead out 4-6 weeks]( Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR [Lucky Whitehead](=) (foot) is expected to miss four to six weeks, according to a source. He'll receive a second opinion before determining if surgery on his broken foot is necessary. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Whitehead was added by the Jets after the Cowboys were quick to release him in a mistaken identity case. Now, with a broken foot, Whitehead is unlikely to make the 53-man roster. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [CLE - Teammate expects QB Brock Osweiler to start](=) Source: The Associated Press Cleveland Browns OT Joe Thomas said he believes QB [Brock Osweiler](=) will open the season as the starting quarterback based on what he has seen during practice. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Osweiler has more experience than Cody Kessler and he's been doing more than any other Browns quarterback in camp. Rookie DeShone Kizer could be the quarterback of the future, but it looks like Osweiler could be the starter to begin the 2017 regular season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [NE - RB Mike Gillislee remains sidelined]( Source: Boston Herald - Jeff Howe New York England RB [Mike Gillislee](=) (hamstring) did not travel with the team for their joint practices with the Houston Texans. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gilislee is supposed to be the lead back for the Patriots since LeGarrette Blount is with the Eagles. He's going to be splitting time with guys like James White and Dion Lewis. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 12. [PIT - Joshua Dobbs expected to start again](=) Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler Pittsburgh Steelers QB Joshua Dobbs likely will be the starting quarterback in the preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons Sunday, Aug. 20, unless QB [Landry Jones](=) (abdomen) is able to return to practice this week. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Dobbs has struggled in camp and the preseason. He's a developmental prospect to be sure, and the team may be in need of a quarterback in a hurry if Ben Roethlisberger decides to retire after this season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 13. [DEN - WR Emmanuel Sanders hurts shoulder]() Source: NFL Network - James Palmer Denver Broncos WR [Emmanuel Sanders](=) (shoulder) left practice early Wednesday, Aug. 16, after falling on his shoulder. Head coach Vance Joseph indicated that the injury is not serious, however. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The team is just being careful with their star wideout. Sanders fell on his shoulder and the day was over for him. We should see Sanders on Saturday night against the 49ers. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 14. [IND - WR Phillip Dorsett returns to practice]( Source: The Indianapolis Star - Zak Keefer Indianapolis Colts WR [Phillip Dorsett](=) (hip) returned to practice this week after missing practice all of last week with a minor hip injury. Dorsett said he's been doing everything he can and believes he's been improving every day at training camp. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A first-round pick in 2015, Dorsett has been a disappointment to this point in his career. He's yet to play a full 16-game season, and Dorsett's 33 catches last year was a career high. We're not expecting or projecting him to do much more than that this season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 15. [DAL - TE Rico Gathers has concussion]() Source: NFL Network - James Palmer Dallas Cowboys TE Rico Gathers (concussion) is in the NFL' concussion protocol after sustaining a concussion in practice Tuesday, Aug. 15. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gathers has been a preseason star this year, so this concussion will knock him off track. We love his stock in dynasty leagues and the former basketball player has upside as a developmental guy. When healthy, Gathers will back up Jason Witten this season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 16. [CLE - TE David Njoku returning]() Source: Akron Beacon Journal - Nate Ulrich Cleveland Browns TE David Njoku (back) plans to play Monday, Aug. 21, after missing the preseason opener. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Njoku has been struggling so far but we still appreciate his dynasty value. The rookie from "The U" has drawn multiple comparisons to Greg Olsen (Panthers), but the transition to the NFL takes some time for tight ends. We like him in dynasty, but there's little to look for from Njoku in redraft leagues this year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 17. [PIT - WR Sammie Coates activated]( Source: Steelers.com Pittsburgh Steelers WR [Sammie Coates](=) (knee) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, Aug. 14. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Coates is going to compete for the no3 WR job behind Antonio Brown and Martavis Bryant. His main competition for the job is rookie JuJu Smith-Schuster. Coates is fast and physical, but he's got a bad problem of dropping too many passes. He'll have to stay healthy and show better concentration if he wants to earn a role in the high-powered Steelers offense. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 18. [IND - RB Marlon Mack running with twos]( Source: The Herald Bulletin - George Bremer Indianapolis Colts RB Marlon Mack is receiving the bulk of the carries with the second-team offense Wednesday, Aug. 16. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Colts backfield is an...interesting...one. Frank Gore is the starter, and the ageless wonder should be the team's leading rusher. Behind him, Robert Turbin could work as a goal-line and power back. Then there's Mack...a big-play rookie with the speed to score from anywhere on the field. Mack is a player only dynasty owners should be targeting at this time. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 19. [JAX - QB Blake Bortles' arm is OK]() Source: ESPN.com - Mike DiRocco Jacksonville Jaguars QB [Blake Bortles](=) indicated his arm was 'fine' when speaking to reporters Tuesday, Aug. 15. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Jaguars head coach Doug Marrone caused a bit of a stir when he said he rested Bortles over the weekend because the quarterback looked like he had a tired arm. Bortles is fine, but the team wants to run the ball more this year and that limits his fantasy value. Fantasy owners already don't trust Bortles due to his propensity to make mistakes and underperform. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 20. [HOU - WR DeAndre Hopkins sits out again]() Source: ESPN.com - Sarah Barshop Houston Texans WR [DeAndre Hopkins](=) did not practice Tuesday, Aug. 15, and he has not practiced since Monday, Aug. 7. Head coach Bill O'Brien indicated that Hopkins is 'doing fine,' and has previously likened Hopkins' practice schedule leading up to the regular season as being on a 'pitch count.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It's a bit of a concern for fantasy owners. Monitor Hopkins as we continue through the preseason. If the veteran WR is on a snap count, then he should be limited in Week 3 of the preseason (the dress rehearsal for the regular season) and is unlikely to play in the preseason finale. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 21. [GB - Max McCaffrey draws praise]() Source: ESPN.com - Rob Demovsky Green Bay Packers WR Max McCaffrey drew praise from offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett, who said that seemingly every time McCaffrey is on the practice field he 'makes a play.' [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] McCaffrey (the older brother of Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey) is a tall and fast receiver. He was undrafted out of Duke last year and has bounced from the Raiders to the Packers over the last year. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 22. [PHI - RB LeGarrette Blount unimpressive so far]( Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Jeff McLane Philadelphia Eagles RB [LeGarrette Blount](=) 'hasn't exactly stood out' during training camp so far, according to the Philadelphia Inquirer's Jeff McLane. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Blount isn't a flashy player, but he's a battering ram who can grind it out between the tackles. With no live tackling in practice, it would be difficult for a player like him to really stand out.
