Plus - Cooper Kupp To Be Eligible For Return From IR This Week  ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ ‌ 10/04/23 [Unsubscribe |]( [Read Online]( | [Join]( | [GO PRO](=) Howdy {NAME}, Welcome In and Buckle Up. LAR: Activation window to open on Cooper Kupp [Source: Rams.com - Stu Jackson]() Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp (hamstring) is expected to return to practice this week, and head coach Sean McVay reaffirmed Monday, Oct. 2, that the team would be starting the 21-day activation window for Kupp ahead of the Week 5 game with the Philadelphia Eagles. Our view: Here we go. Kupp's return will undoubtedly be one of our focus areas this week. Not just his health but how he'll re-engage with an offense that's been working pretty well without him as rookie sensation Puka Nacua has soared. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. TB: Mike Evans having MRI Tuesday [Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler](=) Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans (hamstring) will undergo an MRI Tuesday, Oct. 3. Our view: Initial reports say the hamstring injury is mild for the veteran receiver. The Buccaneers have a bye in Week 5, so Evans could be back for the Week 6 matchup against the Lions. We'll know more when the team is practicing next week. [Back to Top](#top) = = [] 3. SEA: Geno Smith's knee not a concern [Source: The Seattle Times - Bob Condotta]() Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith (knee) will 'need a break' to recover from the knee injury he suffered in Week 4 against the New York Giants, but head coach Pete Carroll told Seattle Sports 710 on Tuesday, Oct. 3, that he thinks his quarterback will be fine physically moving forward. Our view: Smith had to miss some time on Monday night, leading to some passing attempts for backup QB Drew Lock. The Seahawks have a bye in Week 5, so Smith should be fine for their Week 6 game as they travel to take on the Bengals. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. PIT: Matt Canada's job safe for now [Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor]( Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters on Tuesday, Oct. 3, that he had no intention 'at this juncture' to make any changes to the division of labor among coaching responsibilities, specifically as it related to play-calling and offensive coordinator Matt Canada. Our view: Ah, the dreaded vote of confidence. Tomlin is loyal to his coaching staff, perhaps to a fault when it comes to Canada. Even Greg Roman thinks the Steelers' offense is predictable. The system is not getting the best from guys like QB Kenny Pickett or RB Najee Harris. Canada's offense does not inspire any confidence in Fantasy GMs out there. We'll see if the Steelers can turn things around and Canada can save his job. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. DET: Jameson Williams feeling good physically [Source: The Athletic - Colton Pouncy](=) Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams (hamstring) believes he is 'ready to go' physically and feels as if he will be able to play in Week 5 against the Carolina Panthers after giving his injured hamstring time to heal during his four-game suspension. Our view: Williams returns this week adding firepower to an already explosive offense. Lions coach Dan Campbell tempered expectations and talked about easing him in slowly. "We just gotta see where he's at with the football," Campbell said. "And this will be his first week back, so we'll take it every day and see how he does." Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. LAC: Donald Parham undergoes X-rays [Source: The Athletic - Daniel Popper](=) Los Angeles Chargers TE Donald Parham (wrist) underwent X-rays after suffering a wrist injury during the Week 4 game, but head coach Brandon Staley said there is no definite update on his status. Our view: The Chargers are on a bye this week. His return in Week 6 is possible but uncertain, per Jeremy Fowler. PIT: Denzel Mims headed to Pittsburgh [Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo]( Free-agent WR Denzel Mims (Lions) was signed to the practice squad of the Pittsburgh Steelers on Tuesday, Oct. 3. Our view: Mims was a talented receiver years ago at Baylor. His play in college led him to be a second-round pick of the Jets in the 2020 NFL draft. Mims immediately seemed to be a bad fit for the Jets, but he stuck around for a few years until he was traded to the Lions in 2023. The Lions released him back in August (due to an ankle injury), and now he's getting another shot but this time in Pittsburgh. The Steelers know wide receiver talent, and it will be interesting to see if Mims can impress on the practice squad. He's a long-shot to be sure, but that natural talent might still be there if Mims can stay healthy. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. PIT: Pat Freiermuth to miss a few weeks [Source: Pittsburgh Post-Gazette - Gerry Dulac](=) Pittsburgh Steelers TE Pat Freiermuth (hamstring) is expected to be sidelined for two to three weeks because of a hamstring injury he suffered during the Week 4 game, according to sources. Our view: The hits just keep rolling for Pittsburgh. Allison Koehler of Steelerswire reported, "While his absence will be felt, Pittsburgh's likely to utilize second-year tight end Connor Heyward and rookie Darnell Washington more — which could be a breath of fresh air. They've both shown to be better blockers than Freiermuth seems capable." [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. SF: Deebo Samuel remains a question mark [Source: Bay Area News Group - Cam Inman]() San Francisco 49ers RB Deebo Samuel (knee, ribs) remains a question mark ahead of the Week 5 game against the Dallas Cowboys. Officially, he is listed as day to day. Our view: He was able to play through both injuries last week, but he didn't look like himself. Samuel rushed three times for six yards and had no targets in the 49ers Week 4 win over the Cardinals. The 49ers play against the Cowboys on Sunday Night Football in Week 5. That means you'll have to have other options ready that either play in that game or the Packers/Raiders game on Monday night. We'll see what Samuel can do during the week of practice, but get ready for DNP or limited reports. [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. PHI: PHI still committed to Dallas Goedert [Source: The Philadelphia Inquirer - Josh Tolentino](=) Philadelphia Eagles TE Dallas Goedert has 13 catches for 88 yards through four weeks, but head coach Nick Sirianni said the team still intends to feed him on offense. 'Trust me - I promise you he's still part of the plan of us wanting to get him the football. We need to get him the football,' Sirianni said. 'Sometimes there's a dry spell in there, too, with what's kind of going on right now. There are some different things that defenses are concerned of with Dallas that has affected some of the touches he's gotten. It's a bit of both. He is a great player. We rely on him.' Our view: Over the past two seasons, Goedert has been a top-10 fantasy tight end. This year, in standard-scoring formats, Goedert is the no.38 fantasy player at his position. Many of you have already moved on, and for good reason - he's not getting utilized like he was in the past. If/when that changes, we'll recommend starting Goedert. Until that time, he needs to be on your bench and in shallow leagues he might be dumped to the waiver wire. [Back to Top](#top) [] 11. DEN: Denver adds Tre'Quan Smith to practice squad [Source: Denver Gazette - Chris Tomasson](=) Free-agent WR Tre'Quan Smith was signed to the practice squad of the Denver Broncos on Tuesday, Oct. 3. WR Michael Bandy was released from the practice squad to make room for him. Our view: Smith was a favorite of HC Sean Payton from back in his time with the Saints. A third-round pick in the 2018 NFL draft, Smith has flashed just a bit during his pro career. However, Smith has never played up to his potential despite getting some opportunities. Smith has great speed, and he can be a deep threat in this league. We'll see if he can impress and move his way up the depth chart in Denver. [Back to Top](#top) [] 12. SF: Brandon Aiyuk making the most of his opportunities [Source: ESPN.com - Nick Wagoner]() San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk ranks 10th in the NFL with an 18.8 yards-per-catch average (minimum 10 receptions) and 11th in the league with 320 yards receiving despite missing one game and playing hurt for most of another. Perhaps most impressively, all 17 of his catches have either resulted in a first down or a touchdown. Our view: That's a fantastic look into Aiyuk's numbers this season. Once in Kyle Shanahan's doghouse years ago, Aiyuk keeps taking his game to another level. His play is one of the reasons why the 49ers are in a Super Bowl window. Aiyuk currently ranks as the no.11 fantasy WR in standard-scoring leagues. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family.
