â [] 1. MIN - Vikings trade for RB Cam Akers [Source: Tom Pelissero - NFL Network](=) Tom Pelissero reported, "The Rams are sending RB Cam Akers to the #Vikings, per sources." Our view: Clearly this isn't great news for Alexander Mattison. But Mattison hasn't had a lot of good news to talk about lately. It's likely rough for Ty Chandler as well as some, like me, had hoped he'd get a shot. As Pelissero reported, "Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell and OC Wes Phillips were with Cam Akers in L.A., so he should be up to speed quickly and help Minnesota's backfield." [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. NYG: Saquon Barkley ruled out [Source: Giants.com]( New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) did not practice once again on Wednesday, Sept. 20, and has been ruled out for Week 3. Our view: We at least have clarity on the Barkley situation. It's a short week since the Giants play on Thursday night against the 49ers, so Barkley not playing is no surprise. Now, the Giants turn to Matt Breida. Gary Brightwell, and rookie Eric Gray. At this time, Breida should be considered a deep flex play for Fantasy GMs in PPR formats. [Back to Top](#top)
â [] 3. CIN: Joe Burrow's calf will linger [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport]( Updating previous reports, Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow (calf) will not be 100 percent for some time, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Our view: Once the season begins and players are taking the weekly beating of this game, nobody gets to 100 percent. Burrow is playing, but he's not been playing well, and he doesn't look like the superstar quarterback everyone knows he is. Perhaps shutting him down for a week or two would give him enough rest to get back to playing at a high level. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. CLE: Kareem Hunt agrees with Browns [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport](=) Free-agent RB Kareem Hunt (Browns) agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $4 million with the Cleveland Browns Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: Hunt is back with the Browns now that Nick Chubb (knee) has been lost for the season. He's a seasoned veteran with plenty of experience with the Browns, but Hunt did not look good last year. We'll see how long it takes him to get into football shape, and then we'll see how Hunt works into the mix with guys like Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. NYG: Giants' final Week 3 injury report [Source: Giants.com]( New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley (ankle) and OG Ben Bredeson (concussion) did not practice on Wednesday, Sept. 20, and have been ruled out for Week 3. In addition, DE Azeez Ojulari (hamstring) and OT Andrew Thomas (hamstring) were limited but have been ruled out and WR Wan'Dale Robinson (knee) and LB Micah McFadden (neck) were limited and are questionable. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. CAR: Bryce Young can't use QB sneak [Source: ESPN.com - David Newton and Katherine Terrell]( Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young isn't being used on quarterback sneaks because he's too small and doesn't have experience with it, according to sources. QB Andy Dalton entered the game in Week 2 for those plays. Our view: Everyone wants the "tush push" to work on sneaks like it does - almost to perfection - with QB Jalen Hurts and the Eagles. Young just isn't that guy at this time, so Dalton could be coming onto the field to do that until the rookie gets more experience in running that play. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. DET: Amon-Ra St. Brown out of practice [Source: ESPN.com - Eric Woodyard]() Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (undisclosed) is day-to-day and won't practice Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: After playing 66 snaps in Week 1, St. Brown was coming off-and-on the field in Week 2. He registered 49 snaps and finished the game against the Seahawks with six catches for 102 yards. This undisclosed injury has his status for Week 3 against the Falcons in question. If St. Brown has to miss time, the Lions have other weapons like WR Josh Reynolds, TE Sam LaPorta, and RB Jahmyr Gibbs to turn to. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. SF: Brandon Aiyuk listed as questionable [Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan]() San Francisco 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk (shoulder) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 20, and is listed as questionable for Week 3. Our view: The 49ers play on Thursday night against the Giants in Week 3. This is an AC sprain (most likely) and isn't expected to keep him for a long period. However, this injury might keep him out of action in Week 3. Have other options at the ready if Aiyuk is a late scratch before the Thursday night game. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. DET: David Montgomery sits out [Source: DetroitLions.com](=) Detroit Lions RB David Montgomery (thigh) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: Montgomery is likely to miss time with this thigh injury. The Lions will turn to rookie RB Jahmyr Gibbs as a weapon in the backfield. Craig Reynolds should get some work in the mix as well. [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. CLE: Nick Chubb officially placed on IR [Source: ClevelandBrowns.com]() Cleveland Browns RB Nick Chubb (knee) was officially placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: Chubb's season is done, and he's got one more year left on his deal. If the Browns wanted to move on, they'd take a $4 million cap hit in 2024. Chubb is on the books for $15.8 million next season. This year, the Browns are going to see what Kareem Hunt has left with Jerome Ford and Pierre Strong working in a RBBC. [Back to Top](#top) [] 11. IND: Anthony Richardson misses practice [Source: Colts.com](=) Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson (concussion) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: Richardson has flashed amazing ability in two games, but he's getting banged up too much. Now, he's working his way through the league's concussion protocol. Check back on his status on Friday as the Colts prepare for a road game against the Ravens in Week 3. [Back to Top](#top) [] 12. CHI: Darnell Mooney limited [Source: Chicago Bears PR]( Chicago Bears WR Darnell Mooney (knee) was limited in practice on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: Mooney played 15 snaps in Week 2 before going out with this injury. It's reportedly a knee bruise that the speedy veteran is dealing with. We'll see what Mooney can do in practice by Friday. After getting no targets last week on limited playing time, we can only recommend Mooney as a deep 'what the heck' flex if he does play in Week 3 against the Chiefs. TB: Chase Edmonds lands on IR [Source: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith](=) Tampa Bay Buccaneers RB Chase Edmonds (knee) was placed on injured reserve on Wednesday, Sept. 20. In addition, DL Patrick O'Connor was promoted from the practice squad to the active roster. Our view: Edmonds will not be out for at least four weeks as he deals with this MCL sprain. The Buccaneers will take his snaps and give them to guys like Rachaad White or rookie Sean Tucker. [Back to Top](#top) [] 14. JAX: No practice for Zay Jones [Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan]() Jacksonville Jaguars WR Zay Jones (knee) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: Let's see if Jones can do something on Friday. The Jaguars could turn to WR Christian Kirk if Jones doesn't play against the Texans. [Back to Top](#top) [] 15. BUF: No practice for Dawson Knox [Source: BuffaloBills.com - Chris Brown]() Buffalo Bills TE Dawson Knox (back) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: The Bills are traveling to play the Commanders in Week 3. If Knox is out there, he is likely to get snaps behind (or in tandem with) rookie TE Dalton Kincaid. [Back to Top](#top) [] 16. CAR: Bryce Young out of practice [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport](=) Carolina Panthers QB Bryce Young (ankle) is out of practice Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: Let's see what Young can do as the week of practice rolls on. Andy Dalton was on the field for a quarterback sneak, but Young seemed fine in Week 2. If Dalton has to play on the road against the Seahawks in Week 3, Fantasy GMs will be fading all Panthers players. [Back to Top](#top) [] 17. BAL: Justice Hill may miss Week 3 [Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler](=) Baltimore Ravens RB Justice Hill (toe) is dealing with a toe injury and may not be available for the Week 3 game, according to a source. He is not expected to miss extended time because of the injury. Our view: The Ravens backfield is struck with another injury. Toe injuries are painful and can linger for some time if not given enough time to heal. Without Hill, Gus Edwards should get more work. We also should see Melvin Gordon activated off the team's practice squad (maybe even the newly added Kenyan Drake too) for the Week 3 matchup against the Colts. [Back to Top](#top) [] 18. BAL: Kenyan Drake back with Ravens [Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley](=) Free-agent RB Kenyan Drake (Colts) signed to the Baltimore Ravens' practice squad on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: The Ravens are looking for more help in the backfield, and that's why Drake is there on the practice squad. He's unlikely to do much unless more backs above him on the depth chart get banged up. Justice Hill and Gus Edwards are there to do the heavy lifting in the Ravens' backfield. Owen Wright and Melvin Gordon are also on the team's practice squad. [Back to Top](#top) [] 19. BAL: Odell Beckham misses practice [Source: BaltimoreRavens.com]() Baltimore Ravens WR Odell Beckham Jr. (ankle) did not participate in practice Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: The ankle injury is supposed to be minor, so Beckham could do something later in the week. The team, and the veteran receiver, is managing his injured ankle as best as possible. [Back to Top](#top) [] 20. HOU: Limited practice for Tank Dell [Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan]() Houston Texans WR Tank Dell (thigh) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: Dell was fantastic for the Texans last week, hauling in seven catches for 72 yards and one touchdown against the Colts. This week, Dell is a nice 'what the heck' flex going up against the Jaguars. [Back to Top](#top) [] 21. CAR: Miles Sanders limited Wednesday [Source: Panthers.com]( Carolina Panthers RB Miles Sanders (pectoral) was limited in practice on Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: Sanders was not as effective in Week 2 (43 yards) as he was in Week 1 (72 rushing yards). We'll see if he can get a full practice in by Friday as he deals with this pectoral injury. If he's out there in Week 3 on the road against the Seahawks, Sanders is an RB2 with upside for Fantasy GMs out there. [Back to Top](#top) [] 22. HOU: Robert Woods a limited participant [Source: Sirius XM NFL Radio - Adam Caplan]() Houston Texans WR Robert Woods (non-injury) was limited during practice Wednesday, Sept. 20. Our view: Woods is a seasoned veteran. This is just a 'rest' Wednesday for him. He'll be out there against the Jaguars in Week 3, and we like him as a deep flex play for Fantasy GMs. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks.
