They have helped me dominate my league to the point that I'm called the Evil Empire by my league mates" - Rick Himes @bigisland31 [] 1. LAR: Cooper Kupp visiting specialist [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport](=) Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp (hamstring) is visiting with a specialist on Saturday, Sept. 2, to learn more about his hamstring injury, per sources. Our view: The Rams travel to play the Seahawks in Week 1 of the 2023 season. We'll know more about Kupp's status in about a week. He should be limited (at best) during practice leading up to the game. His status is up in the air, and it would be WR Van Jefferson to take over as the top target for QB Matthew Stafford if Kupp needs to miss time. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. LAR: Van Jefferson could lead passing attack [Source: The Athletic - Jourdan Rodrigue]( Los Angeles Rams WR Van Jefferson 'would step into the No. 1 receiver role' if WR Cooper Kupp (hamstring) isn't able to play in Week 1, according to Jourdan Rodrigue of The Athletic. Our view: We'll know more about Kupp's status leading up to the opener against the Seahawks. Kupp sustained a hamstring strain late last week which has his status in doubt. In addition to Jefferson, Puka Nacua and TuTu Atwell would be expected to do more if Kupp misses time. [Back to Top](#top) [] 3. IND: Deon Jackson likely to start in Week 1 [Source: KPRC.com - Aaron Wilson]() Indianapolis Colts RB Deon Jackson is reportedly expected to start at running back in Week 1 versus the Jacksonville Jaguars, according to sources. Zack Moss (arm) is expected to take over the title after that. Our view: Zack Moss (forearm) is likely to miss the season opener. Already without Jonathan Taylor (PUP), the Colts now turn to Jackson on the ground. Rookie Evan Hull will be the team's no.2 back with Jackson as the starter. Against the Jaguars, Jackson has some flex appeal but only in deeper leagues. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. DET: Jared Goff talking extension [Source: Detroit Free Press - Dave Birkett](=) Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff and the team have had 'good dialogue' in regards to contract talks, general manager Brad Holmes said Friday, Sept. 1. Our view: This report was the same earlier this year. We'll see if Goff can get something done before the start of the regular season, although there is no pressure to get a deal done. Goff is set to hit free agency in 2025. The Lions have a ton of hype around them this year, and the NFC North looks different without Aaron Rodgers. If the Lions can make a run at the postseason, and perhaps the division title, Goff would have more leverage than he does right now. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. CIN: Trayveon Williams eyeing Week 1 [Source: Bengals.com - Geoff Hobson]( Cincinnati Bengals RB Trayveon Williams (ankle) returned to practice on a limited basis this week, and he said he expects to be ready to play against the Cleveland Browns in Week 1. Our view: The Bengals have a few options behind starting RB Joe Mixon. Williams is likely no.4 on the depth chart behind Mixon, Chris Evans, and rookie Chase Brown. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. LAC: Joshua Palmer the No. 3 receiver [Source: The Athletic - Daniel Popper]( Los Angeles Chargers WR Joshua Palmer 'will get a majority of the snaps as that third receiver' to start the year, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic. Our view: To start the year is the key here. Palmer is the team's no.3 receiver behind Keenan Allen and Mike Williams, but rookie first-round pick Quentin Johnston will push for a larger year as the season goes on. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. LAC: Joshua Kelley to open as No. 2 back? [Source: The Athletic - Daniel Popper]( Los Angeles Chargers RB Joshua Kelley has been a good fit in offensive coordinator Kellen Moore's system and has 'earned the opportunity' to begin the year as the primary backup to RB Austin Ekeler, according to Daniel Popper of The Athletic. Our view: Austin Ekeler is going to get a ton of work for the Chargers as their lead back. When he needs a breather, the Chargers can turn to Kelley or Isaiah Spiller. We'll see if Kelley can impress enough to keep getting most of those reserve touches. Kelley is set to be an unrestricted free agent in 2024. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. PIT: Steelers add two RBs to practice squad [Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson]() Free-agent RBs Zander Horvath and Qadree Ollison were signed to the Pittsburgh Steelers' practice squad on Saturday, Sept. 2, per source. Our view: The Steelers have a great 1-2 punch with Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren. Behind their top two backs, Anthony McFarland is there to provide a change of pace. Horvath and Ollison will compete on the practice squad and get called up if someone above them on the depth chart gets banged up. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. CLE: Marquise Goodwin has shot to play in opener [Source: ClevelandBrowns.com - Doc Louallen](=) Cleveland Browns WR Marquise Goodwin (illness) practiced for the first time since training began on Tuesday, Aug. 29, and he said he hopes to be ready to play in the season opener. Our view: We'll see if Goodwin can do enough in practice to get out there against the Bengals in Week 1. Goodwin is still a speed merchant, and he can take the top off the defense. He's buried on the depth chart and is likely to make his impact on special teams when he's out there. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks.
