They have helped me dominate my league to the point that I'm called the Evil Empire by my league mates" - Rick Himes @bigisland31 [] 1. LAR: Setback for Cooper Kupp [Source: The Athletic - Jourdan Rodrigue]() Los Angeles Rams WR Cooper Kupp (hamstring) has suffered a setback in his recovery from a hamstring injury and is considered day-to-day, according to head coach Sean McVay. Our view: Exactly what we did not want to hear. Details are still murky but we'll be staying on this one for you. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. MIN: T.J. Hockenson extended [Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero](=) Minnesota Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson agreed to a contract extension that will make him one of the highest-paid players at his position, according to a source Thursday, Aug. 31. Our view: Hockenson agreed to a four-year deal worth up to $68.5 million, and Fantasy GMs are locked onto him as a set-it-and-forget-it weekly starter at the tight end position. He will get plenty of attention as the second target in the Vikings' passing game behind only superstar WR Justin Jefferson. [Back to Top](#top) [] 3. TEN: Will Levis had eye surgery [Source: ESPN.com - Turron Davenport]( Tennessee Titans QB Will Levis revealed Wednesday, Aug. 30, that he underwent a surgical procedure in June to improve his long-distance vision. 'I've been seeing it a lot better in comparison to the spring,' Levis said. 'Obviously I've had more reps at this level now, but the eyesight is a big part of it.' Our view: Levis is there to compete as the potential future franchise quarterback for the Titans. This preseason, it looks like Malik Willis has won the primary backup job to Ryan Tannehill. We'll see if Levis can move up the depth chart as the season goes on. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. MIA: Tyreek Hill avoids suspension [Source: NFL.com]( Miami Dolphins WR Tyreek Hill will not receive a suspension for his off-field issues during the offseason, a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Our view: This outcome was expected and now it's one step closer to official. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. KC: Kadarius Toney may play Week 1 [Source: NFL.com](=) Kansas City Chiefs WR Kadarius Toney (knee) has a good chance to be available for the Week 1 game, according to general manager Brett Veach. Our view: Let's see what Toney can do in the week of practice leading up to the opener. The Chiefs and Lions kick the 2023 season off on Thursday, September 7th. Toney was making plays and turning heads this offseason before another injury took him out of action. When healthy, Toney has plenty of flex appeal...with tons of upside. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. KC: Justyn Ross, Rashee Rice to grow into roles [Source: The Kansas City Star - Jesse Newell]( Kansas City Chiefs WR Justyn Ross and WR Rashee Rice will begin the season as 'package' players with the goal of growing into every-down receivers by the end of the year, general manager Brett Veatch said Wednesday, Aug. 30. Our view: Ross is a fantasy darling and ultimate 'sleeper' for many in deeper leagues. Rice is the rookie the team covets, although our own Cecil Lammey has heard that the team will be patient with the young receiver's progression. It sounds like that's the plan for both of these potential playmakers. You may not be drafting them now, but by the end of the season (fantasy playoff time) one or both could be waiver wire additions. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. MIA: Alec Ingold extended [Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler]( Miami Dolphins FB Alec Ingold agreed to a three-year extension worth up to $17.2 million, according to a source Thursday, Aug. 31. Our view: There are not many in the league anymore, but Ingold is now the highest-paid fullback in the NFL. He's going to keep blasting holes open for the rushing attack as a key piece to influence the Dolphins' look to opposing defenses. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. CIN: Demetric Felton signed [Source: Bengals.com]( Free-agent RB Demetric Felton (Browns) signed with the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad Thursday, Aug. 31. Our view: Felton is an interesting RB/Slot WR type who can make plays in the open field. We'll see what he can do to impress with the Bengals, but the landing spot in this high-powered offense couldn't be any better. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. CHI: Chicago makes several moves [Source: ChicagoBears.com]( Chicago Bears OL Teven Jenkins (leg) and OL Doug Kramer (undisclosed) were placed on the Reserve/Injured list Thursday, Aug. 31. Additionally, free-agent QB Nathan Peterman (Bears) and WR Trent Taylor (Bengals) were signed to the active roster. They also signed OL Bill Murray (Patriots), DL Deslin Alexandre (Jets), DL Daniel Hardy (Rams), and PK John Parker Romo (Saints) were signed to the practice squad. Our view: Peterman is there for veteran depth. Undrafted rookie QB Tyson Bagent (who we love in super deep dynasty) should be the primary backup to Justin Fields. NO: Kendre Miller nursing hamstring injury [Source: ESPN.com - Katherine Terrell](=) New Orleans Saints RB Kendre Miller (hamstring) did not participate in practice due to a hamstring injury on Thursday, Aug. 31. Our view: The rookie running back is going to work into the mix when healthy. Veteran Jamaal Williams is there to be the lead back while Alvin Kamara is suspended for three games. [Back to Top](#top) [] 11. NE: Matt Corral finds a home in New England [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport](=) Free-agent QB Matt Corral (Panthers) was claimed off waivers by the New England Patriots on Thursday, Aug. 31. Our view: Just file this one away for future reference... [Back to Top](#top) [] 12. IND: Zack Moss trending in the right direction [Source: CNHI Sports Indiana - George Bremer](=) Indianapolis Colts RB Zack Moss (arm) is on track to practice next week and head coach Shane Steichen told reporters on Thursday, Aug. 31, that he is hopeful Moss will be ready for Week 1 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. Our view: That's good news for the Colts. With Jonathan Taylor on the PUP list, Moss is in line for a larger-than-expected workload. Moss, Deon Jackson, and Evan Hull will work to establish a pecking order for at least the first month of the season. [Back to Top](#top) [] 13. MIA: Darrynton Evans joins Miami's practice squad [Source: NFL Network - Cameron Wolfe]() Free-agent RB Darrynton Evans was signed to the practice squad of the Miami Dolphins on Thursday, Aug. 31. Our view: Evans is a hard-charging runner who has bounced around the league since the Titans made him a third-round pick in the 2020 NFL draft. The Dolphins have Raheem Mostert as their starter, but players behind him like Jeff Wilson (IR) and rookie Devon Achane are banged up. [Back to Top](#top) [] 14. NYG: Parris Campbell gets another day off Thursday [Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan]() New York Giants WR Parris Campbell (rest) was not spotted at practice for a second straight day on Thursday, Aug. 31. Our view: Campbell is a seasoned veteran who is getting some extra rest. He can still fly, so the Giants should use him as a no.3 receiver when they need to take the top off the defense. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update.
