They have helped me dominate my league to the point that I'm called the Evil Empire by my league mates" - Rick Himes @bigisland31 [] 1. ARI: Kyler Murray unlikely to come off PUP this week [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]() Arizona Cardinals QB Kyler Murray (knee) is not expected to be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list before Tuesday, Aug. 29. Our view: No surprise here. If he is not activated before then, Murray will be ineligible to play the first four games of the regular season. That means we could see rookie fifth-round pick Clayton Tune or veteran Josh Dobbs as the Cardinals' starter. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. ARI: Arizona moves on from Colt McCoy [Source: CBSSports.com - Jonathan Jones]( Arizona Cardinals QB Colt McCoy was released on Monday, Aug. 28. Our view: Things change quickly around here. At the beginning of camp, McCoy was considered to be the starter while QB Kyler Murray (knee) is on the mend. Instead, the Cardinals are moving forward with rookie fifth-round pick Clayton Tune and veteran Josh Dobbs (who they acquired last week). [Back to Top](#top) [] 3. CHI: Chicago not in on Jonathan Taylor [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]( Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor is not being pursued by the Chicago Bears. Our view: The Dolphins are the primary team to be after Taylor. The Broncos are considered to be the second-most interested in the superstar back as well. There was buzz about the Bears pursuing Taylor, but that's not the case. The Colts have a Tuesday deadline for Taylor to work out a trade with another team. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. SEA: Optimism for quick return for Jaxon Smith-Njigba? [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport](=) Seattle Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba (wrist) is expected to begin the season on the active roster and is unlikely to begin on the Reserve/Injured list, according to a source. Our view: That's good news for the Seahawks, but we won't know for sure about the rookie's status until the week of practice leading up to their season opener. They're at home to face the Rams in Week 1. Smith-Njigba is fast and can make defenders look silly after the catch. If he's out there, we like him for 'what the heck' flex appeal. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. DET: Nate Sudfeld has torn ACL [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter](=) Detroit Lions QB Nate Sudfeld (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament Friday, Aug. 25, and will miss the rest of the season. Our view: Sudfeld is a solid veteran backup who will now miss the 2023 season. The Lions have QB Teddy Bridgewater as the primary backup to starting QB Jared Goff. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. NYJ: Zonovan Knight let go [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport](=) New York Jets RB Zonovan Knight was released on Monday, Aug. 28. Our view: Knight looked good as an undrafted rookie last year for the Jets. However, the room got a new leader when the Jets added RB Dalvin Cook. Knight was getting some trade interest before getting released, so he should find a new home quickly. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. CHI: CHI backup QB down to two [Source: ESPN.com - Courtney Cronin]() Chicago Bears QB Tyson Bagent or QB Nathan Peterman are in line to serve as the backup quarterback. Our view: Bagent has been balling out in training camp and the preseason. A 0-star recruit coming out of high school, Bagent has been watched closely by the scouting community at both the Senior Bowl and the Scouting Combine. We love this type of story in super deep dynasty formats, and Bagent should win over Peterman even though he's an undrafted rookie. [Back to Top](#top) The best things sent in the Footballguys Group Chat today: - 👀 WHOOP! Geno Smith might have QB [some competition…]() - 👨🏻 If looks boosted ADP, Kirk Cousins would be drafted [1.01 in every league.]() - 📝 Note to self: Never tell Michael Irvin [how to play wide receiver.](=) - 🕺 Forget the griddy and waddle. It’s [Sexy Dexy time.](=) - 😂 Even after retiring, Tom Brady will never miss [an opportunity to trash-talk.](=) [] 8. IND: Breshad Perriman released [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter](=) Indianapolis Colts WR Breshad Perriman was released Monday, Aug. 28. Our view: The Colts are cleaning up their wide receiver room by letting go of veterans like Perriman and James Washington. He's used to battling for his position, so Perriman will stay and shape and be ready for another team to sign him - which may happen before or right after Week 1. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. MIA: Mike White out of protocol [Source: ESPN.com - Marcel Louis-Jacques]() Miami Dolphins QB Mike White (head) is no longer in the concussion protocol but has not been informed if he will be the team's No. 2 quarterback. Our view: White is competing with second-year pro Skylar Thompson for the backup job behind Tua Tagovailoa. [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. TEN: Treylon Burks back at work [Source: ESPN.com - Turron Davenport]( Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks (knee) returned to practice on Monday, Aug. 28. Our view: Good news for Burks and this offense. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) [] 11. LAC: Jalen Guyton going on PUP list [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport](=) Los Angeles Chargers WR Jalen Guyton (knee) will be placed on the Reserve/Physically Unable to Perform list soon, according to a source. Our view: He won't be able to return until Week 6 when the Chargers return from their bye week. When healthy, Guyton will be asked to take the top off the defense as a reserve receiver. [Back to Top](#top) [] 12. BAL: Mark Andrews on track for opener [Source: ESPN.com - Jamison Hensley](=) Baltimore Ravens TE Mark Andrews (undisclosed) should be ready for the start of the regular season even though he has missed some practices because of an undisclosed injury. Our view: Great news for the Ravens, Lamar Jackson and of course Andrews. We're a bit worried with the lack of reps in preseason games for Andrews and Jackson but they're veterans. [Back to Top](#top) [] 13. NE: Trace McSorley done in New England [Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero]() New England Patriots QB Trace McSorley was released on Monday, Aug. 28. Our view: McSorley was added this offseason after spending time with the Ravens and the Cardinals in his pro career. The Patriots feel comfortable moving on with rookie QB/WR Malik Cunningham making plays on offense during camp and the preseason. [Back to Top](#top) [] 14. IND: Jelani Woods nowhere close to returning? [Source: Indianapolis Star - Nate Atkins](=) Indianapolis Colts TE Jelani Woods (hamstring) tore his hamstring at some point during spring practices, according to head coach Shane Steichen. Our view: This is disappointing news. Woods is a favorite young TE of ours, but this hamstring injury has slowed him down. When he returns, the Colts could integrate him as a weapon for rookie QB Anthony Richardson. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks. Text with a very high Flesch reading ease score (about 100) is straightforward and easy to read, with short sentences and no words of more than two syllables.
