16 Rookies That Could Set Fantasy Football on FIRE ð¥ Jeff Bell, Kevin Coleman, and Christian Williams analyze the Top-16 Rookies that could set the NFL and fantasy football on FIRE in 2023! â [Watch On YouTube ð](
â [] 1. CIN: Joe Mixon not guilty [Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo]() Cincinnati Bengals RB Joe Mixon was found not guilty in the misdemeanor trial on one charge of aggravated menacing Thursday, Aug. 17. Our view: It's not certain that Mixon will avoid a suspension despite the result, but this outcome probably means the suspension will be minimal, if any is assessed. Don't move him up on this news, but this does solidify his spot as a third-round pick in most leagues. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. IND: Jonathan Taylor away from team [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]() Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor has been excused from training camp because of a personal issue. Our view: Taylor was supposed to return to camp this week, but obviously will not, at least not today. This could be nothing and a legitimate absence, or it could be a telltale sign that this relationship is beyond repair. The best case scenario for Taylor in fantasy is a trade, but that seems unlikely at this juncture. He remains a true boom/bust pick, sometimes falling to the third round even though he was the #1 or #2 overall pick in drafts last year. [Back to Top](#top)
â [] 3. NYJ: Breece Hall may do more soon [Source: The Athletic - Zack Rosenblatt]() New York Jets RB Breece Hall (knee) could participate in team drills starting next week, according to head coach Robert Saleh. Our view: Expect Dalvin Cook to lead the Jets backfield in carries Week 1 against the Bills. After that, the team could go to a hot hand approach, choose to ease in Breece Hall depending on his Week 1 performance (if he plays), or leave Cook established as the starter in deference to his experience. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. DET: Amon-Ra St. Brown out a few days [Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates]() Detroit Lions WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (ankle) will be out of practice the rest of the week with an eye on returning sometime next week, according to head coach Dan Campbell. Our view: Campbell commented on St. Brown's durability and that the team wasn't worried about him, although used the word "tentative" when pinning down a return timeline. Still, this is no reason to move him down on your board. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. TEN: Treylon Burks expected to miss a few weeks [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport](=) Tennessee Titans WR Treylon Burks (knee) has been diagnosed with a lateral collateral ligament sprain and is expected to be sidelined for a few weeks, according to sources. Our view: This is about as good of news as you could have hoped for after he was carted off the field. He's still just a bench stash at this point and could start the season slow. Burks has the first-round pedigree and talent to be a breakout candidate, but DeAndre Hopkins should be the clear target leader in this limited pass offense. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. DET: Jameson Williams' preseason over [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]() Detroit Lions WR Jameson Williams (hamstring) is likely to miss the rest of the preseason due to a hamstring injury. Our view: When you add this to Williams missing the first six weeks with a suspension, it's hard to make a case for drafting him outside of deeper leagues or league with big play bonuses. He has had an up and down camp and the team has been seeking more reps and playing time to give the 2022 first-round pick seasoning. He should be healthy when he returns and we'll likely be looking at him as a preemptive waiver wire pickup around Week 5 or 6. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. CAR: Miles Sanders likely to skip preseason [Source: NFL.com](=) Carolina Panthers RB Miles Sanders (groin) is making progress in his recovery but likely will not play in any preseason games, according to head coach Frank Reich. Our view: While this shouldn't make us move Sanders down in our rankings significantly, if at all, it should give us pause. We'll just have to keep our fingers crossed that he doesn't have a setback in practice or re-injury in Week 1 against the Falcons. Chuba Hubbard takes on little more appeal as a late round injury upside pick with this news. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. ATL: Matt Hennessy placed on IR [Source: AtlantaFalcons.com - Scott Bair](=) Atlanta Falcons OG Matt Hennessy (undisclosed) was placed on the Reserve/Injured list Wednesday, Aug. 16. Our view: Second-round pick Matthew Bergeron was battling with Hennessy to start at left guard, and this is also a blow to the Falcons interior line depth as Hennessy was also the backup center. Bergeron is now a clear starter and Ryan Neuzil becomes the top backup at center. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. HOU: C.J. Stroud to start vs. Dolphins [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport](=) Houston Texans QB C.J. Stroud will start the second preseason game against the Miami Dolphins on Saturday, Aug. 19. Our view: Two preseason games and this makes two starts for Stroud. He's the Texans' starter, even though the team has not made that official. We'll know for sure in the next preseason game, where the rookie may not play (as most starters do not play in the preseason finale). [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. CAR: Terrace Marshall to miss some time [Source: FOX Sports Radio - Sheena Quick]() Carolina Panthers WR Terrace Marshall Jr. (back) is expected to be sidelined a few weeks with a back injury, according to a source. Our view: D.J. Chark looked like he had cemented a spot with the first team already, and now rookie second-round pick Jonathan Mingo is in line to start Week 1 with Marshall questionable for the beginning of the season. Marshall had started to contribute more when Matt Rhule was fired last year, but the 2021 second-round pick's chance to endear himself to the new regime and earn more playing time has been put on hold. [Back to Top](#top) [] 11. LAR: TE Hopkins a 'Bright Spot" in Camp [Source: Los Angeles Rams on Twitter]() Los Angeles Rams TE Brycen Hopkins has been a "bright spot" for the team throughout training camp according to HC Sean McVay. Our view: It's a good note for the young player, and this is the type of news item we love tracking in dynasty formats. Hopkins is competing with Hunter Long to be the Rams' no.2 tight end behind starter Tyler Higbee. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks.
