IND: Anthony Richardson the starter [Source: CNHI Sports Indiana - George Bremer]( Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson was named the starter for Week 1 Tuesday, Aug. 15. Our view: If you had any hesitation about drafting Richardson at or near ADP, this development should end that. Richardson has the rushing upside to be a solid QB1 even with passing production that is among the worst in the league. He should be off of the board in the top 10 quarterbacks and is worth taking at ADP (assuming it doesn't rise significantly) even if you take another option earlier to be your Week 1 starter. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. NYJ: Another calf tweak for Aaron Rodgers [Source: ESPN.com - Rich Cimini]() New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers (calf) apparently tweaked his left calf during practice Tuesday, Aug. 15. Per Rich Cimini, "He's limping around, but stays in for the next play." Rodgers also did the same to his right calf during organized team activities earlier this year. Our view: He continued to practice which means it's likely not a big thing. But it's hard to not think of Rodgers' advanced age for an NFL quarterback when you hear about these injuries. Plus, the offensive line is also an issue. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) [] 3. NYJ: Breece Hall activated [Source: The Athletic - Zack Rosenblatt]() New York Jets RB Breece Hall (knee) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Tuesday, Aug. 15. He'll be limited in practice. Our view: This is good news for Hall, but his ADP is going to fall on the signing of Dalvin Cook and we can't be sure that he'll be a safe start in Week 1. Hall should fall to the fifth round, and maybe further even though he is finally ready to take the practice field. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. CLE: Elijah Moore ramping it back up [Source: Around The NFL]() Cleveland Browns WR Elijah Moore (ribs) is expected to participate in individual drills during practice Tuesday, Aug. 15. Our view: Moore missed Monday's practice due to the rib injury he suffered in the team's first preseason game. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. NYJ: Dalvin Cook to the Jets - More Thoughts [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]() Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New York Jets Monday, Aug. 14, worth as much as $8.6 million, according to a source. Our view: Most of that money is guaranteed so the Jets are going to want to get something back on their investment. Cook isn't a mere backup to Breece Hall, but he's also not ready to practice right away. Hall was just activated from the PUP list, so it's possible the Jets keep four running backs and have Michael Carter or Zonovan Knight play a role in at least Week 1. Hall's ADP should drop, but it's not clear that Cook's should significantly rise. This team has some offensive line questions and this backfield split could be fluid and difficult to project week-to-week. It helps a team in a win now window, but hurts fantasy players trying to rely on members of this backfield. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. NE: Mike Gesicki has dislocated shoulder [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport](=) New England Patriots TE Mike Gesicki (shoulder) suffered a mild dislocated shoulder Monday, Aug. 14. The hope is he's back before Week 1. Our view: Gesicki was having a slow camp but starting to pick up when this injury stopped his momentum. Hunter Henry has been one of the most dependable, if not the most dependable passcatcher in Patriots camp and he's the only New England tight end worth drafting in fantasy leagues. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. NE: Ezekiel Elliott to New England - More Thoughts [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport]( Free-agent RB Ezekiel Elliott (Cowboys) agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million with the New England Patriots, according to a source Monday, Aug. 14. Our view: Elliott should at least get some of the passing down work because of his pass blocking, and his inside running and ball security strengths should make him a logical short yardage back including at the goal line. Rhamondre Stevenson should still lead the Patriots backfield in snaps and touches, but it's hard to know just how much value that will take from him. He shouldn't be going in the third and maybe even the fourth round now, and once the season starts, we may understand that he should have fallen even farther. Elliott is rising from the late rounds to being a low ceiling/high floor injury/bye/emergency back, but his decline and the Patriots offense being in the bottom half of the league limit his upside. The Patriots gave 2022 draft picks Pierre Strong and Kevin Harris a chance to win the backup job, but neither was up to the task. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. SF: George Kittle to miss another week [Source: NFL.com](=) San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (adductor) will not participate in practice this week because of his adductor injury, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Our view: Kittle missed time last year because of a groin injury, so this is a little worrisome and has ruined what was Kittle's first healthy offseason in a long time. He's still a solid pick around TE4 or TE5, but probably doesn't have as high a ceiling as Kyle Pitts or Darren Waller coming into the season with the injury seal already broken. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. KC: Justyn Ross nursing minor leg injury [Source: Around The NFL]() Kansas City Chiefs WR Justyn Ross (leg, hamstring) left practice with a leg or hamstring injury Tuesday, Aug. 15, according to head coach Andy Reid. According to NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the injury does not appear to be serious. Our view: Ross is one of the biggest sleeper favorites in fantasy football. He certainly has physical talent, but he needs to stay healthy to play up to his potential. Ross has been standing out in practice and the preseason. [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. NO: Darrel Williams joins Saints [Source: NewOrleans.Football - Nick Underhill](=) Free-agent RB Darrel Williams (Cardinals) signed with the New Orleans Saints Monday, Aug. 14, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. Our view: The Saints were in on Kareem Hunt earlier this month, but couldn't get him to sign, so they have turned to the versatile former LSU back. He'll help the team with Alvin Kamara suspended for the first three games and rookie third-round pick Kendre Miller dealing with a knee injury, but Williams isn't worth drafting. [Back to Top](#top) [] 11. IND: Ronnie Harrison joining Indy [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]() Free-agent S Ronnie Harrison (Browns) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the Indianapolis Colts Monday, Aug. 14. Financial terms were not disclosed. Our view: Harrison should be the top backup at safety for the Colts. The starters Julian Blackmon (hamstring) and Rodney Thomas II (toe) are both sidelined right now. Thomas should be back before Blackmon, but there's no reason to think Harrison will start Week 1. Keep Harrison on waiver wire watch lists in IDP leagues if one or both of the Colts safeties have trouble getting or staying healthy. [Back to Top](#top) [] 12. DET: Emmanuel Moseley on schedule [Source: DetroitLions.com - Tim Twentyman](=) Detroit Lions CB Emmanuel Moseley (knee) is on schedule with his recovery but it will be awhile before he returns to the field, according to head coach Dan Campbell. Our view: Moseley is an excellent corner who should boost this secondary when he returns, but it's clear now that we shouldn't expect him on the field Week 1. He had a setback in his recovery and a second knee surgery which he is currently recovering from. Moseley isn't even doing light running yet, so beginning the season on the PUP list is possible. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update.
