IND: Jonathan Taylor back in the building [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport](=) Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (ankle) has returned to the building Monday, Aug. 14, but has not been activated. Our view: This situation is not over yet. Taylor still wants to be traded as the team is at a standstill in his contract situation. The Colts had entertained the idea of signing RB Kareem Hunt, but that didn't happen last week. Taylor is rehabbing an ankle injury, and he'd need to pass a physical if traded. We'll see if the two sides can patch things up (with a big contract) or if this holdout/trade scenario continues. In the meantime, guys like Deon Jackson and Evan Hull get plenty of work. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. NYJ: Dalvin Cook, NYJ agree to terms [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter]() Free-agent RB Dalvin Cook (Vikings) agreed to terms on a one-year contract with the New York Jets Monday, Aug. 14, worth as much as $8.6 million, according to a source. Our view: You know the executives at HBO producing Hard Knocks love this. The Jets are going all in, and this move makes a ton of sense for the team in win-now mode with an older quarterback. Clearly, it's a negative for Breece Hall but we'll hopefully get some insight into how they plan to use Cook more this week. We wrote in the August Update Need to Know last week about Cook, "Running back Dalvin Cook left his visit to Jets camp without a contract, reportedly because he and the team do not see eye-to-eye on his role once Breece Hall is fully healthy." We'll be trying to see what that means and what changed. [Back to Top](#top) [] 3. BAL: J.K. Dobbins activated [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter](=) Baltimore Ravens RB J.K. Dobbins (undisclosed) was activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, Aug. 14. Our view: Good news for the Ravens here. Dobbins was trying to "hold in" due to his contract situation, but the team didn't budge. He had no leverage and is now hitting free agency in 2024. Ravens HC John Harbaugh said Dobbins is "100 percent healthy." [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. NE: Ezekiel Elliott heading to New England [Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport]( Free-agent RB Ezekiel Elliott (Cowboys) agreed to a one-year deal worth up to $6 million with the New England Patriots, according to a source Monday, Aug. 14. Our view: It could have been worse for Rhamondre Stevenson if they'd signed Dalvin Cook. But signing a veteran RB wasn't a forgone conclusion so adding Elliott here is a negative for sure. How much remains to be seen and we should hopefully have more insight later this week. In the end, you knew Bill Belichick wouldn't let us have a running back corps that was too clear... [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. ARI: Zach Ertz cleared [Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo](=) Arizona Cardinals TE Zach Ertz (knee) received full clearance for football activities Monday, Aug. 14, and is on track to play in Week 1. Our view: Good news for the Cardinals here because they need as much help on offense as they can get. Ertz is a seasoned veteran and will be eased back into football activities with an eye on Week 1. While he's been out of action, second-year TE Trey McBride has gotten a chance to do more. Now that Ertz is healthy, the team will have to find snaps and targets for both of them. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. MIN: T.J. Hockenson explains absence [Source: ESPN.com - Kevin Seifert]( Minnesota Vikings TE T.J. Hockenson (ear) has been sidelined for most of training camp because of an ear infection that has been affecting his equilibrium. He said he is improving but is not sure if he will do more during practices this week. Our view: Equilibrium issues can be tricky for just regular human activity. Much less performing as an NFL player. We'll watch this one. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. CAR: Terrace Marshall carted off [Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter](=) Carolina Panthers WR Terrace Marshall Jr. (undisclosed) was carted off the field at training camp practice Monday, Aug. 14, due to an undisclosed injury. Our view: Getting the cart out is never a good sign, but let's hope it's nothing too serious. Marshall has flashed talent in the pros, and he was competing to become a favorite target of rookie QB Bryce Young. A second-round pick out of LSU in the 2021 NFL draft, Marshall's career hasn't yet taken off. Now that he's injured, guys like Laviska Shenault and Shi Smith will have an opportunity to do more. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. NO: Kendre Miller has sprained knee [Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero](=) Updating previous reports, New Orleans Saints RB Kendre Miller (knee) suffered a sprained knee and won't require surgery. He could be ready for Week 1. Our view: The talented rookie can produce as a runner and receiver out of the backfield. While not an explosive player, Miller is a North-South runner who wastes little motion. Miller was in line to be the no.2 back behind Jamaal Williams while regular starter Alvin Kamara serves his three-game suspension. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. SF: George Kittle to miss another week [Source: NFL.com](=) San Francisco 49ers TE George Kittle (adductor) will not participate in practice this week because of his adductor injury, according to head coach Kyle Shanahan. Our view: [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. TEN: Jacques Patrick heading to Tennessee [Source: The Draft Network - Justin Melo]( Free-agent RB Jacques Patrick (Broncos) is signing a two-year deal with the Tennessee Titans on Monday, Aug. 14. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. Our view: Patrick is a hard-charging back who can be described as a no-nonsense runner. Rookie RB Tyjae Spears is the primary backup to Derrick Henry. Behind the rookie, Patrick will have a chance to make the team as a reserve player. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks.
