It's a big day at Footballguys as our Premium Subscribers Contest is live. Plus more awesome content. But I'm thinking about some things besides football today. I mentioned yesterday I'd like to lift up the many folks affected by the devasting [wildfires in Maui, Hawaii](. Lots of people know Maui as a beautiful tourist destination. I have a different perspective as I had family that lived there up till 2022 and I visited often. While the resorts are luxurious, the vast majority of Maui residents are regular folks. And the devastation for them is stunning. If you know me, you know I'm a fan of Food Banks as they're often a great way to get help directly to people in need. So here's what we're doing. We are donating 20% of every new [Footballguys Premium Subscription](=) sold Sunday 8/13 and Monday 8/14 to [the Maui Foodbank](). It's a small thing. But it'll help. If you buy a [Premium Subscription](=) Sunday or Monday, know you're helping people in need. Mahalo. (That's how folks in Hawaii say "thank you".) Peace and Grace to y'all. J What's New At Footballguys - [Footballguys Premium Subscriber Contest Is Live!](=) - One of the many benefits of a [Footballguys Premium Subscription](=) is every person gets an entry into the [Footballguys Premium Subscriber Contest](=). This year, we're putting $35,000 in cash into the prize pool. First prize is $10,000 cash plus $5,000 Donation in your name to a Food Bank in the city of your choice. There's no additional cost to entry once you've purchased a Premium Subscription. Many people say it's one of the best things we do at Footballguys. I don't disagree. It's a "set it and forget it" type contest where you build your lineup and then let it play out all season long. - [How To Draft ADP Fallers Like A Pro]( - Drafting ADP fallers is the only guaranteed winning strategy. CLE: Elijah Moore day-to-day [Source: NFL.com]( Cleveland Browns WR Elijah Moore (ribs) is considered day-to-day after suffering an injury to his ribs during the preseason game against the Washington Commanders Friday, Aug. 11, according to head coach Kevin Stefanski. Our view: Rib injuries come down to pain tolerance. They can put extra protection around his midsection when Moore is ready to practice and play. It doesn't sound like this is a serious injury. [Back to Top](#top) [] 2. WAS: Sam Howell impresses in win [Source: The Washington Post - Nicki Jhabvala]( Washington Commanders QB Sam Howell completed 9-of-12 passes for 77 yards and one touchdown, while also adding one carry for eight yards in the preseason Week 1 win over the Cleveland Browns. Our view: Howell is the leader to be the Commanders' starter this season. He's competing with veteran QB Jacoby Brissett to be the starter, but Howell is in the driver's seat. With a strong preseason, Howell will secure the job. [Back to Top](#top) [] 3. PIT: Kenny Pickett tosses TD in win [Source: ESPN.com](=) Pittsburgh Steelers QB Kenny Pickett completed six of his seven pass attempts for 70 yards and a touchdown in a 27-17 preseason win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Friday, Aug. 11. Our view: A nice start for Pickens and he hopes to make the year two jump. [Back to Top](#top) [] 4. GB: Jordan Love sharp to start preseason [Source: ESPN.com](=) Green Bay Packers QB Jordan Love completed seven of his 10 passes for 46 yards and a touchdown in a 36-19 preseason win over the Cincinnati Bengals Friday, Aug. 11. Our view: It was an encouraging start for Love and Packers fans. We're not getting too excited about one preseason game but looking sharp is surely preferable to the alternative. [Back to Top](#top) [] 5. NE: Pats ink USFL RB [Source: USFL Newsroom - James Larsen](=) Free-agent RB CJ Marable (USFL) is signing an undisclosed contract with the New England Patriots, according to a source on Friday, Aug. 11. Our view: Marable has been with the Birmingham Stallions over the last two seasons. Undrafted out of Coastal Carolina in 2021, Marable spent some time with the Bears as a priority free agent but didn't make the final roster. In 23 games with the Stallions, Marable had 925 rushing yards (220 carries) and eight touchdowns with 48 receptions for 396 yards and two receiving touchdowns. The Patriots are looking for better depth behind starting RB Rhamondre Stevenson. [Back to Top](#top) [] 6. GB: Tyler Davis tears ACL [Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero]() Green Bay Packers TE Tyler Davis (knee) suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament during the preseason Week 1 game, per source on Saturday, Aug. 12. Our view: Davis was trying to compete for a roster spot behind Luke Musgrave and Tucker Kraft. Now, Davis will be out for the season. A sixth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft (Jaguars), Davis has bounced around to a few teams over the last couple of seasons. [Back to Top](#top) [] 7. TEN: Jonathan Ward questionable to return [Source: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt]() Tennessee Titans RB Jonathan Ward (knee) is questionable to return to the preseason game against the Chicago Bears Saturday, Aug. 12, after exiting with a knee injury. Our view: Ward was competing with Hassan Haskins and Julius Chestnut to be the Titans' no.3 back behind Derrick Henry and rookie Tyjae Spears. A knee injury could be minor but it could be more severe, and either way it impacts Ward's chances at earning a roster spot. [Back to Top](#top) [] 8. SEA: Dee Eskridge dealing with knee injury [Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle](=) Seattle Seahawks WR Dee Eskridge (knee) twisted his knee on the opening kickoff of the preseason game versus the Minnesota Vikings Thursday, Aug. 10, according to head coach Pete Carroll. The severity of the injury is currently unknown. Our view: Eskridge has a ton of talent, mainly around his speed and run-after-the-catch ability, but he's been banged up quite a bit in his young pro career. He was competing for the no.4 spot on the depth chart behind DK Metcalf, Tyler Lockett, and Jaxon Smith-Njigba. We'll know more about his status going forward next week. [Back to Top](#top) [] 9. TEN: Malik Willis to start preseason opener [Source: PaulKuharsky.com - Paul Kuharsky]() Tennessee Titans QB Malik Willis will start the preseason opener against the Chicago Bears on Saturday, Aug. 12. Fellow QB Will Levis will come in after that. Our view: We'll see Willis and Levis battle it out for the no.2 job behind starting QB Ryan Tannehill. We like the arm strength Willis has, and he's certainly athletic enough to threaten a defense with his legs. However, Levis has the potential to be a starter in this league and could end up beating out Willis for the primary backup job. [Back to Top](#top) [] 10. CLE: Jordan Wilkins appears headed to Cleveland [Source: KPRC.com - Aaron Wilson]() Updating a previous report, the Cleveland Browns are expected to sign free-agent RB Jordan Wilkins (Colts), according to a league source. Our view: Jerome Ford is considered week-to-week with a hamstring injury, so the Browns are adding Wilkins for veteran depth behind Nick Chubb. Wilkins has started four games, all with the Colts but that was more than a few years ago (2018, 2019). He can work between the tackles but has limited usage as a receiver. We'll see if he can impress enough to earn a spot when Ford is healthy. [Back to Top](#top) That'll do it for today, Folks. Thanks for reading and thanks for being part of the Footballguys Family. We'll see you tomorrow with the Update. Peace, J [avatar] Joe Bryant Guide [[twitter]]()[[facebook]]([[discord]]()[[youtube]]()[[instagram]]() Written By Joe Bryant.
