We've got a ton of awesome content for you today leading off with Ryan Weisse catching us up on everything. Plus more than I can list here as well as the News and Notes. Dive in and let us help you win more at Fantasy Football. May I be a little bit personal today? And I hope maybe this might be an encouragement for you folks out there who are step-parents. I've been thinking about this today as my stepfather, who I call "Pop", had some serious surgery today. He's in recovery and doing well. But had me thinking. Short version is Pop's the world's best stepdad. Stood in the gap for me and little brother Rich when we were obnoxious little kids. The longer version is he showed me what the gospel looks like in real life treating me like his own son when I was a shit. He never treated Rich and I one bit differently than he did our half-brother Ben, his actual son. He was the boring guy compared to my dad who was the fun big personality entrepreneur guy. I thought Pop was the dorky guy and my dad was the cool guy. I love my Dad dearly, but Pop was the true rock star. I didn't realize it until I was about 35 years old. Fortunately, I had the good fortune of apologizing to both he and my mom some 20-plus years ago and telling him how much I appreciated him and loved him and how I saw it now. He's a real one. For all you folks out there who are step-parents, my prayer for you today is I hope you can be like Pop. Peace and Grace to you. Now Let's Go. Howard released - CHI: Roschon Johnson sidelined - IND: Colts add one, waive one - HOU: Dalton Keene agrees to terms - NYG: Jalin Hyatt impressing - HOU: Minor injury for Dalton Schultz - CIN: Trayveon Williams injured [NYJ: Aaron Rodgers expects to play a while](=) Source: The Athletic - Zack Rosenblatt New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers told reporters after practice Tuesday, Aug. 1, that 'this is going to be a few years partnership.' Our view: Rodgers took a massive pay cut in hopes of winning a championship with the Jets. His new deal keeps him with the team through 2024, so Rodgers has essentially two years to try and get the Jets to the Super Bowl. The clock is ticking on the Rodgers era as he's an older player and not quite what he used to be. We'll see how refreshed Rodgers looks this season after his tumultuous time in Green Bay. --------------------------------------------------------------- [NYJ: Garrett Wilson returning Saturday](=) Source: The Associated Press - Dennis Waszak Jr. New York Jets WR Garrett Wilson (ankle) is expected to return to practice Saturday, Aug. 5. Our view: It was a low-ankle sprain that Wilson suffered last week in camp, so getting back after missing a week sounds about right. We're certain the team will monitor him closely and perhaps ease him back into action upon his expected return on Saturday. --------------------------------------------------------------- [LVR: O.J. Howard released](=) Source: Las Vegas Review-Journal - Vincent Bonsignore Las Vegas Raiders TE O.J. Howard was released Tuesday, Aug. 1. Our view: The former first-round pick (Buccaneers, 2017) has not looked the same since his Achilles' tear in 2020. Since that time, he's been with three teams, caught 24 passes, and has only three receiving touchdowns. Some team who wants veteran depth at the position could give Howard a look. The Raiders move forward with rookie TE Michael Mayer and veteran TE Austin Hooper at the position. --------------------------------------------------------------- [CHI: Roschon Johnson sidelined](=) Source: The Athletic - Adam Jahns Chicago Bears RB Roschon Johnson (undisclosed) did not practice due to an undisclosed injury Tuesday, Aug. 1. Our view: It's an undisclosed injury, so who knows how long the rookie will be out of action. When healthy, Johnson will compete for snaps behind guys like Khalil Herbert and D'Onta Foreman. --------------------------------------------------------------- [IND: Colts add one, waive one]( Source: Colts.com Undrafted free-agent RB Toriano Clinton (Indianapolis) signed an undisclosed three-year deal with the Indianapolis Colts Tuesday, Aug. 1. DT Jamal Woods was waived. Our view: The Colts needed more bodies at the position with RB Zack Moss out with a broken arm and RB Jonathan Taylor wanting to be traded. Evan Hull, Deon Jackson, and Jake Funk are there to establish a pecking order. Clinton was undrafted out of the University of Indianapolis this year and will compete for a spot behind those guys. He has a good burst as a runner, and we like the way Clinton keeps his feet after contact. In crazy deep dynasty formats, we'll keep an eye on him. --------------------------------------------------------------- [HOU: Dalton Keene agrees to terms]() Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson Free-agent TE Dalton Keene (Eagles) agreed to terms with the Houston Texans Monday, July 31, according to a source. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. Our view: Keene was just released by the Eagles last week and found a new home quickly. A former third-round pick of the Patriots, Keene is an H-back who can line up in-line at tight end, in the backfield as a Fullback, and he could even take some Wildcat snaps if asked to. He's a longshot to make the Texans as they have a pretty crowded room at the tight end position. --------------------------------------------------------------- [NYG: Jalin Hyatt impressing]() Source: ESPN.com - Jordan Raanan New York Giants WR Jalin Hyatt has been looking better every day in training camp and is regularly catching deep balls, ESPN's Jordan Raanan wrote on Monday, July 31. Our view: Hyatt has the skill that should make him stand out in practice on a daily basis. First off - he can fly. Hyatt was a deep threat in college with track speed and ball-tracking ability. Secondly, he's a run-after-the-catch threat because of that elite speed. Finally, Hyatt has a knack for making difficult catches seem routine. We're excited about the rookie receiver's pro career and how quickly he can make an impact for the Giants' offense. --------------------------------------------------------------- [HOU: Minor injury for Dalton Schultz]() Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson Houston Texans TE Dalton Schultz (side) is sidelined because of a side injury but is expected to return to practice soon, according to head coach DeMeco Ryans. Our view: We'll see how quickly Schultz can get back to the field for the Texans. He can be a security blanket for rookie QB C.J. Stroud when healthy. Schultz is a TE2 with TE1 upside from a fantasy perspective. Last year for the Cowboys, Schultz had 57 catches for 577 yards and five touchdowns which made him the no.10 fantasy tight end in standard-scoring formats. --------------------------------------------------------------- [CIN: Trayveon Williams injured]() Source: The Athletic - Paul Dehner Jr. Cincinnati Bengals RB Trayveon Williams (leg) suffered an apparent right leg injury during individual drills at practice Tuesday, Aug. 1. He was tended to by trainers before eventually getting carted off the field. Our view: Williams has been with the Bengals since 2019 as a depth piece at the running back position. A sixth-round pick out of Texas A&M, Williams hasn't flashed as much as some had expected. Chase Brown, a rookie from Illinois, is competing to be the primary backup to starting RB Joe Mixon. With Williams out of action, a player like Chris Evans will get more chances to impress. Got skills? Want to join the best darn team of fantasy football experts around?
