[Watch On Youtube](=) Inside This Issue - DEN: Tim Patrick feared out for season - IND: Zack Moss out several weeks - IND: Anthony Richardson has nasal procedure - DAL: Ronald Jones gets 2 game suspension - PHI: D'Andre Swift to get third-down work - IND: Back issue in question? - KC: Deneric Prince pushing for role - DEN: KJ Hamler waived - SEA: Pete Carroll talks up Jaxon Smith-Njigba - DET: Marvin Jones activated - SEA: Kenneth Walker not practicing - IND: Will Mallory cleared to return - SEA: Zach Charbonnet out indefinitely - BUF: Von Miller could be ready for opener - SEA: SaRodorick Thompson signs with Seattle [DEN: Tim Patrick feared out for season](=) Source: The Denver Post - Parker Gabriel Denver Broncos WR Tim Patrick (leg) suffered a non-contact left leg injury during practice Monday, July 31. Patrick was in considerable pain and visibly frustrated before he was carted off the field. Our view: Reports indicate Patrick suffered an Achilles' injury. After missing last season with an ACL injury, Patrick is likely to miss the 2023 season. We'll get confirmation in the near future, but it seems like his season is done (again) before it even started. The Broncos have a ton of depth at the wide receiver position, so they'll look for guys like Marquez Callaway, rookie Marvin Mims, and Brandon Johnson to do more. --------------------------------------------------------------- [IND: Zack Moss out several weeks](=) Source: FOX 59 Indianapolis - Mike Chappell Indianapolis Colts RB Zack Moss (arm) suffered a broken arm during practice Monday, July 31. He is expected to miss approximately six weeks, according to a source. Our view: Moss is now going to miss training camp and the preseason with this injury. He'll be ready to get back in action sometime near the beginning of the regular season. Since RB Jonathan Taylor has asked for a trade, the Colts could be looking at the available talent at the position. Deon Jackson and rookie Evan Hull will get more looks with Moss (and Taylor) out of practice. --------------------------------------------------------------- [IND: Anthony Richardson has nasal procedure]( Source: Colts.com Indianapolis Colts QB Anthony Richardson (nose) had a procedure on his nose Sunday, July 30, to correct his nasal septum. He's expected to miss just one day of camp. Our view: Richardson had to miss some time with this procedure, but camp reports have been positive about the 2023 first-round pick. We'll see if Richardson can start for the Colts from Week 1. He's the future of the team at the position, and experience is the best teacher, so it just makes sense to get him out there ASAP. --------------------------------------------------------------- [DAL: Ronald Jones gets 2 game suspension]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo Dallas Cowboys RB Ronald Jones received a two-game suspension from the NFL for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances Monday, July 31. Our view: Jones is there in Dallas to give them veteran depth behind starter Tony Pollard. Without him on the field, the Cowboys could turn to Malik Davis when Pollard needs a breather. --------------------------------------------------------------- [PHI: D'Andre Swift to get third-down work](=) Source: ESPN.com - Tim McManus Philadelphia Eagles RB D'Andre Swift 'has been used primarily in the passing game' during training camp, according to Tim McManus of ESPN.com. Our view: Swift can eat up a chunk of yards quickly in the open field. The Eagles are going to continue using multiple backs to attack opponents on a weekly basis. Swift, Rashaad Penny, and Kenneth Gainwell are establishing a pecking order in training camp. --------------------------------------------------------------- [IND: Back issue in question?]() Source: Twitter Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (back) took to social media to deny any hint of the back pain that sources claimed he was dealing with back pain Sunday, July 30. Our view: The soap opera continues and we'll see what's next in the future for the Colts and their superstar running back. Taylor (back, ankle) will be moved from the active/physically unable to perform list to the active/non-football injury list due to a reported back injury suffered while working out on his own in Arizona, per source on Sunday, July 30. Taylor disputes this injury. This could be a threat of a move by the Colts to try to avoid paying him this year, as players on the NFI list do not get paid until they are cleared. There seem to be more ways for this be a disaster for Taylor's fantasy value than for it to work out well for his fantasy managers right now. Stay tuned. --------------------------------------------------------------- [KC: Deneric Prince pushing for role](=) Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher Kansas City Chiefs RB Deneric Prince's role in the offense remains unclear, but it 'seems clear' that he will open the season on the 53-man roster, according to Adam Teicher of ESPN.com. Our view: A Matt Waldman favorite, Fantasy GMs in dynasty formats should be all over Prince. We'll see how he does the rest of training camp and the preseason. Isiah Pacheco is the starter, and Jerick McKinnon will work as the pass-catching back. Prince is competing with former first-round pick Clyde Edwards-Helaire for snaps behind those two. --------------------------------------------------------------- [DEN: KJ Hamler waived]() Source: NFL Network - Mike Garafolo Denver Broncos WR KJ Hamler (heart) is reportedly expected to be waived with a non-football illness designation Monday, July 31. However, the transaction is procedural and designed with an eye toward bringing him back to the team, according to sources Our view: Hamler was diagnosed with a heart condition this offseason. He was a long shot to make the team if/when the Broncos bring him back. --------------------------------------------------------------- [SEA: Pete Carroll talks up Jaxon Smith-Njigba](=) Source: Seahawks.com - John Boyle Seattle Seahawks WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba is a player who 'makes things look really easy' and someone head coach Pete Carroll 'could not imagine him not being part of the mix right from the beginning.''He's really a gifted athlete. Timing, hand-eye (coordination), body control, extraordinary natural quickness, and he makes things look really easy. I couldn't imagine him not being part of the mix right from the beginning. It just comes too easy for him. We're looking for the spots we can put him in, how to move him around, and see how much he can handle. There's nothing that's holding him back. He's hitting it off with Geno (Smith) really well right now,' Carroll told the team's website. Our view: Smith-Njigba was a standout for the Ohio State Buckeyes, and he was able to make plays in 2021 as a no.3 receiver behind Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave. In 2022, Smith-Njigba was banged up with a hamstring injury but Seattle felt strongly enough about his skill to select him in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft. He's a savvy player who can find open spots in the middle of the field. Smith-Njigba will compete for targets behind D.K. Metcalf and Tyler Lockett. --------------------------------------------------------------- [DET: Marvin Jones activated](=) Source: KPRC.com - Aaron Wilson Detroit Lions WR Marvin Jones (undisclosed) was activated from the Active/Non-Football Injury list Monday, July 31. Our view: Jones missed the start of camp and some time at OTAs earlier this year. The veteran is back with the Lions, but he's not the same player he used to be. Jones is competing for targets behind Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams. We'll see if he can get more snaps than Josh Reynolds in the rest of camp and the preseason. --------------------------------------------------------------- [SEA: Kenneth Walker not practicing]( Source: ESPN.com - Field Yates Seattle Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III (groin) is dealing with an unspecified groin injury and will be out a while, head coach Pete Carroll said on Sunday, July 30. Our view: Walker is the starter when healthy, but rookie RB Zach Charbonnet will push for the job and touches this season. Walker has a groin injury that is keeping him out of action, while Charbonnet also misses time due to a shoulder injury. With Walker and Charbonnet out of action, guys like DeeJay Dallas and Kenny McIntosh will get more work. --------------------------------------------------------------- [IND: Will Mallory cleared to return]() Source: Around The NFL Indianapolis Colts TE Will Mallory (foot) was activated from the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Monday, July 31. Our view: Good timing for the Colts as TE Jelani Woods has a hamstring injury. We love Mallory in deep dynasty formats, but it might take some time (a few years) for him to produce up to his potential in the pros. --------------------------------------------------------------- [SEA: Zach Charbonnet out indefinitely]() Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Seattle Seahawks RB Zach Charbonnet (shoulder) is out indefinitely with an unspecified shoulder injury, head coach Pete Carroll said on Sunday, July 30. Our view: The room is banged up right now as Seahawks RB Kenneth Walker III (groin) is dealing with an unspecified groin injury. Charbonnet is a fine rookie, and we love his ability as a slashing runner and receiver out of the backfield. With Walker and Charbonnet out of action, guys like DeeJay Dallas and Kenny McIntosh will get more work. --------------------------------------------------------------- [BUF: Von Miller could be ready for opener]() Source: Around The NFL Buffalo Bills LB Von Miller (knee) is 'in a great spot' in his recovery from a torn anterior cruciate ligament and 'definitely a possibility' to be ready for Week 1 against the New York Jets, according to general manager Brandon Beane. Our view: Miller was a playmaker for the Bills last year before his injury. We imagine their plan includes Miller as a part-time rusher - which can work great for the veteran as he's still one of the most disruptive players on the field when healthy. --------------------------------------------------------------- [SEA: SaRodorick Thompson signs with Seattle](=) Source: ESPN.com - Brady Henderson Free-agent RB SaRodorick Thompson signed an undisclosed contract with the Seattle Seahawks on Monday, July 31. Our view: Seattle needs help at the position with both Kenneth Walker (groin) and Zach Charbonnet (shoulder) banged up. Thompson, undrafted out of Texas Tech, spent time with the Saints this offseason. He's a good all-around running back who could latch on the team's practice squad. Got skills?
