Our view: For what it's worth, Colt owner Jim Irsay said Taylor will not be traded. Whether a trade gets done is going to be based on some very difficult-to-ascertain factors: how much draft capital the Colts want in return, how much a team values adding a talent like Taylor at running back, and whether they are willing to sign him to a market-setting deal in the worst market for running backs that we can remember. Chances are Taylor will be suiting up for the Colts in Week 1, but fifth-round pick Evan Hull and Bills castoff Zack Moss have some speculative value based on this news, and Taylor has a little more risk of a holdout or perhaps not be willing to play through minor injuries for the Colts this year. He was still a good value as a late first after going #1 or #2 before an injury-marred season last year. However, this has us a little worried. --------------------------------------------------------------- [NE: No deal for Ezekiel Elliott](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Free-agent RB Ezekiel Elliott (Cowboys) left his meeting with the New England Patriots without a contract, but the two sides are expected to remain in contact. Our view: The Patriots are getting their files up to date on veteran backs like Elliott and Leonard Fournette, who they had in for a visit earlier this month, so that if they aren't satisfied with what second-year backs Pierre Strong and Kevin Harris can offer as backups, they'll be able to bring in an experienced player to help steady the offense. Rhamondre Stevenson's ADP is at risk of being too high if the team signs a player like Elliott or Fournette. --------------------------------------------------------------- [IND: Jim Irsay certain he's not trading Taylor]( Source: ESPN.com - Stephen Holder Updating a previous report, Indianapolis Colts RB Jonathan Taylor will not be traded, owner Jim Irsay said Saturday, July 29. 'We will not trade Jonathan Taylor,' Irsay said. 'That is a certainty. Not now or not in October.' Our view: Teams have said things like this before only to reverse course. It's still much more likely that Taylor plays for the Colts this year than any of the other 31 teams, but you never know. --------------------------------------------------------------- [TB: Mike Evans chemistry with QB]() Source: Buccaneers.com - Brianna Dix Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans has 'certainly found chemistry' with QB Baker Mayfield during the first few days of training camp, according to Brianna Dix of Buccaneers.com. Our view: Evans ADP has fallen as far as the sixth round in some drafts after he rarely fell out of the first three rounds during his tenure with the Bucs. Baker Mayfield has been poison for his fantasy receivers and Kyle Trask probably won't be much better, but Evans has big play ability and if somehow he and Mayfield do start to click, he could be a value. --------------------------------------------------------------- [TB: WR Rakim Jarrett impressing]() Source: Buccaneers.com - Scott Smith Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Rakim Jarrett is 'making a ton of plays' at training camp, according to QB Baker Mayfield, and head coach Todd Bowles said he has been impressed by Jarrett's athleticism. Our view: Jarrett is a former five-star recruit, but he didn't live up to billing at Maryland and fell out of the draft this year. The Bucs don't have an established #3 receiver, so Jarrett has a chance to rise up the depth chart quickly if he can keep up this momentum. --------------------------------------------------------------- [NE: Hunter Henry starts strong]() Source: ESPN.com - Mike Reiss New England Patriots TE Hunter Henry has been targeted often during red zone drills during the early part of training camp. Our view: When the Patriots signed Mike Gesicki, it was assumed that they were going to recreate the Gronkowski/Hernandez offense that didn't work with Henry and Jonnu Smith, who were both signed to big free agent deals in 2021. Smith was traded to the Falcons this offseason, and Henry was expected to have a smaller role in the passing game with the arrival of Gesicki. Gesicki hasn't stood out at camp yet, but Henry has, making him a consideration on our late round tight end target list. --------------------------------------------------------------- [MIN: Jalen Nailor banged up]() Source: The Athletic - Alec Lewis Minnesota Vikings WR Jalen Nailor (leg) suffered a minor leg injury during practice Saturday, July 29, according to head coach Kevin O'Connell. Our view: Nailor has been running with the first team in three-wide sets early in camp, so it will be important to monitor news out of Vikings camp if you were thinking about taking K.J. Osborn in the late rounds. Nailor offers deep speed, while Osborn offers experience. This injury could slow down Nailor's momentum. --------------------------------------------------------------- [MIN: Danielle Hunter has new deal]() Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero The Minnesota Vikings and DL Danielle Hunter agreed to terms on a one-year contract worth up to $20 million Sunday, July 30, according to multiple sources. The deal includes $17 million of fully guaranteed money and a clause where the franchise or transition tag cannot be applied to him for the 2024 season. Our view: Hunter hasn't gotten back to pre-injury form, but he notched 10.5 sacks and is only 28, so he can still be one of the most impactful edge rushers in the league. There was some thought that the team could trade Hunter earlier this week, but that got shut down quickly with this news. --------------------------------------------------------------- [TB: Calijah Kancey suffers injury]() Source: NFL.com Tampa Bay Buccaneers DT Calijah Kancey (calf) suffered a strained calf during practice Sunday, July 30, and is scheduled to undergo an MRI. Our view: There will probably never be another Aaron Donald, but Kancey is in the Donald mold as an undersized but very disruptive defensive tackle, down them both playing their college ball at Pittsburgh. He is a good contrast to Vita Vea in the starting tackle pairing, but this injury could delay his rookie impact in IDP leagues. --------------------------------------------------------------- [LAR: Sony Michel retires]( Source: The Associated Press Los Angeles Rams RB Sony Michel has decided to retire from the NFL, head coach Sean McVay announced Saturday, July 29. Our view: Michel was a potential obstacle to sixth-round pick Zach Evans getting playing time behind Cam Akers. He'll be remembered as part of the last Patriots dynasty Super Bowl after they made him a first round pick in 2018, but knee issues kept his pro career from ever coming close to fulfilling the investment they made in him or hopes of fantasy drafts who watched him shine at Georgia in a backfield with Nick Chubb. --------------------------------------------------------------- [NYG: Sterling Shepard to be activated]() Source: NFL Network - Tom Pelissero New York Giants WR Sterling Shepard (knee) is expected to be activated from the Physically Unable to Perform list and will be on the field for practice Sunday, July 30, according to a source. Our view: Shepard probably won't have a big fantasy impact, but he posted 13-154-1 in three games last year before tearing his left ACL. He could make it more difficult for Darius Slayton, Parris Campbell, and Isaiah Hodgins to have consistent fantasy value if he's ready to go to begin the season. --------------------------------------------------------------- [PIT: Steelers sign Kwon Alexander]() Source: ESPN - Brooke Pryor Free-agent LB Kwon Alexander (Jets) is signing with the Pittsburgh Steelers, pending a physical, Saturday, July 29, according to sources. Our view: Alexander hasn't been promised a starting job per Josina Anderson, but he will have a chance to earn a starting job in a competition with Elandon Roberts and Cole Holcomb for the two starting jobs. He visited the team back in May, but left without signing a contract. Got skills? Want to join the best darn team of fantasy football experts around?
