Our view: Training camp is about a week away for the Vikings (July 29), and it can't get here soon enough. Addison was a first-round pick in the 2023 NFL draft, and he's been sidelined most of the offseason due to an undisclosed injury. Back in OTAs/mandatory minicamp Vikings HC Kevin O'Connell said he expects Addison to be a full participant in training camp. --------------------------------------------------------------- [NYJ: Breece Hall not ready to practice]( Source: ESPN.com - Rich Cimini New York Jets RB Breece Hall (knee) was placed on the Active/Physically Unable to Perform list Wednesday, July 19. Our view: Hall has been down since suffering this knee injury in Week 7 of the 2022 season. This move to the PUP list at the start of camp was expected, and it gives the Jets the option to PUP him (and force him to miss four games) at the beginning of the regular season. The Jets are interested in free agent RB Dalvin Cook, and that would certainly impact Hall's usage when he's able to come back to the field. --------------------------------------------------------------- [KC: Clyde Edwards-Helaire hoping for reset](=) Source: ESPN.com - Adam Teicher Kansas City Chiefs RB Clyde Edwards-Helaire said he worked with some of his assistant coaches from college this offseason to try to regain his top form. 'We worked on some of the things we did in college,' said Edwards-Helaire. 'Those are the guys who know me best. They watched who I was in college, figured out who I was throughout that time. They watched me in high school because they were the guys recruiting me. They kind of gave me pinpoints here and there and then we figured it out and worked on it.' Our view: The former first-round pick has been injured and inconsistent in his pro career, and last year a rookie seventh-round pick (Isiah Pacheco) took over as the Chiefs' starter. Edwards-Helaire is competing for snaps behind Pacheco, who is battling back from injury but is expected to be ready for Week 1. Jerick McKinnon is the primary change-of-pace back, but perhaps a motivated Edwards-Helaire can work his way into the mix. --------------------------------------------------------------- [KC: Isiah Pacheco says he'll be ready]( Source: Chiefs Digest - Matt Derrick Kansas City Chiefs RB Isiah Pacheco (shoulder) said he'll 'absolutely' be ready for Week 1 of the regular season Thursday, July 20. Our view: Before the start of camp, some reports speculated whether or not Pacheco would be ready for Week 1. Then, Pacheco was out at practice in a non-contact jersey doing more than expected. He's trending in the right direction, and we doubt we see much from the Chiefs' starter in the preseason. --------------------------------------------------------------- [DET: Lions put three on NFI](=) Source: DetroitLions.com Detroit Lions TE Derrick Deese Jr. (undisclosed), QB Hendon Hooker (knee) and DL Zach Morton (undisclosed) were placed on the Active/Non-Football Injury list Thursday, July 20. Our view: Hooker fell in the draft to the third round due to this knee injury even though he has first-round talent. We'll see him on the shelf this year, essentially in a redshirt season as he gets healthier. Next season, we're excited to see what Hooker can do and if he can potentially be a future starter in the NFL. --------------------------------------------------------------- [DET: Lions sign Denzel Mims](=) Source: SNY.tv - Connor Hughes The Detroit Lions acquired WR Denzel Mims and a seventh-round pick from the New York Jets in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick Wednesday, July 19, according to a source. Our view: Mims gets another chance with a new team, and we're interested to see what he can do in this environment. He's a downfield target who plays with 'my ball' mentality, but Mims did not fit with the Jets. The former second-round pick (2020) out of Baylor will be motivated to finally prove he can make plays in this league. Mims will compete to establish a pecking order on the depth chart behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, and Marvin Jones. Guys like Kalif Raymond, Josh Reynolds, and Trinity Benson are his main competition. --------------------------------------------------------------- [GB: Jayden Reed signs rookie deal]() Source: PackersWire - Zach Kruse Green Bay Packers second-round pick WR Jayden Reed agreed to a four-year, $7.18 million deal with a $2.22 million signing bonus Wednesday, July 19. Our view: Reed is dangerous on intermediate routes because of his run-after-the-catch ability. Even though he's a smaller receiver, Reed fights for the ball and can regularly win contested catches. He's not a burner, but Reed is feisty and can track passes down the field as well (although he needs fewer body catches on those types of routes). We'll be monitoring his chemistry with QB Jordan Love and Dynasty GMs should be all over him. --------------------------------------------------------------- [NYJ: New York moves off Denzel Mims](=) Source: SNY.tv - Connor Hughes The New York Jets traded WR Denzel Mims and a seventh-round pick to the Detroit Lions in exchange for a conditional sixth-round pick Wednesday, July 19, according to a source. Our view: The Jets spent a second-round pick on Mims in the world-class 2020 NFL draft (the receiver class was considered the best in history). From the jump, it seemed like Mims was just a bad fit with what the Jets wanted to do. He needed a fresh start, and the Jets were able to get something for him in exchange. --------------------------------------------------------------- [LAC: Pokey Wilson to miss start of camp]() Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Josh Alper Los Angeles Chargers WR Pokey Wilson (illness) was placed on the Active/Non-Football Illness list Wednesday, July 19. Our view: Undrafted out of Florida State this year, Wilson is trying to latch on with the Chargers at least as a developmental player on the practice squad. We like the way he understands coverage angles, and Wilson can work well after the catch. Wilson also does a good job of coming back to the ball and helps bail out his quarterback when the play breaks down. The Chargers have a stacked wide receiver room, so making the 53-man roster as an undrafted rookie will prove to be difficult. That'll do it for today, Folks.
