[NYG - Saquon Barkley remains at stalemate]() Source: ESPN - Dianna Russini New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley and the team remain at a stalemate Wednesday, July 12. The deadline for a long-term deal is Monday, July 17. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Deals get done at deadlines in this league. The Monday deadline is coming up, so that means something with Barkley could be done before or over the weekend. Previous reports have indicated he does not want to reset the running back market, so chances may be better we see Barkley get a long-term deal. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [SEA - Geno Smith on point in 2022](=) Source: ProFootballReference.com Seattle Seahawks QB Geno Smith recorded a bad-throw percentage of 11.8 percent in 2022 - the lowest of all qualified quarterbacks - according to Pro Football Reference. Furthermore, he ranked fourth among all qualified quarterbacks with an on-target percentage of 78.8 percent. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Smith showed great timing and touch as a passer in 2022. The Seahawks put more weapons around him when they selected Ohio State WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba in the first round of the 2023 NFL draft. The rookie can absolutely fly, and he could be a big-play weapon for the Seahawks (and Smith) from day one. Smith will continue to show strong chemistry with DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett too. That makes him a mid-range QB1 with upside for Fantasy GMs out there. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [LAR - LA tried to trade Matthew Stafford]( Source: Sports Illustrated Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford was 'feverishly' shopped during the offseason, according to Michael Lombardi, who said the team wanted to avoid paying Stafford $59 million in contract bonuses. Ultimately, however, there were no takers, and Stafford remains QB1 for the Rams. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Stafford battled elbow problems and a brain injury over the last couple of seasons. In 2022, Stafford only appeared in nine games as he dealt with concussion problems. It's no surprise teams were not interested in the veteran quarterback. Rams head coach Sean McVay said there will be "no limitations" on Stafford in 2023. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [TEN - Tyjae Spears in line for RB2]() Source: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans RB Tyjae Spears has stood out this offseason, and he's expected to be part of a one-two punch with RB Derrick Henry. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] There is no doubt that Spears was one of our favorite sleepers in this year's draft class. We see some Alvin Kamara to his game as Spears can thrive as a slashing runner or receiver out of the backfield. The Titans' backfield is all about Derrick Henry, but when he needs a break we'll see Spears on the field - and he should impress. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [BUF - Bills won't pay DeAndre Hopkins](=) Source: ESPN - Jeff Darlington Free-agent WR DeAndre Hopkins (Cardinals) has interest from the Buffalo Bills but the team is 'not going to pay him,' ESPN's Jeff Darlington said on Monday, July 10. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Hopkins is only getting serious interest from the Titans and the Patriots at this time. He wants to sign with a contender, and the Bills qualify in that department, but he may have to take much less than he wants to get that chance. The Chiefs are also somewhat interested, but they have the least amount of salary cap space in the NFL at this time. The Bills aren't much better, ranking 28th in the league with only $5.3 million in cap space. [CLE - Deshaun Watson high on Amari Cooper]() Source: Cleveland.com - Ashley Bastock Cleveland Browns QB Deshaun Watson believes WR Amari Cooper is 'going to be good' in 2023 and revealed the pair have been spending extra time together this offseason to work on their chemistry, according to Ashley Bastock of Cleveland.com on Tuesday, July 11. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] This is one of the most regular drumbeats this offseason. Cooper is the seasoned veteran who can be reliable for Watson - especially when he's under pressure. It's good to have a guy like Cooper who knows how to get open. From a fantasy perspective, GMs out there are considering Cooper as a WR2 with upside. If Watson is better this year (as he was flat-out bad as a passer last year), Cooper could be more than flex worthy on a weekly basis. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [NYG - Isaiah Hodgins as sure-handed as they come]( Source: ProFootballReference.com New York Giants WR Isaiah Hodgins was one of four qualified receivers who did not drop a pass last season, according to Pro Football Reference. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A sixth-round pick for the Buffalo Bills out of Oregon State in the 2020 NFL draft, Hodgins followed Giants' HC Brian Daboll from the Bills to the Giants and flourished at the end of the 2022 season. Picked up off waivers in November, Hodgins had four touchdowns in the last five regular-season games he played in. In the postseason, Hodgins finished with 105 receiving yards and a touchdown on eight receptions as the Giants earned a 31-24 victory over the Vikings in the Wild Card Round. This year, Fantasy GMs are selecting Hodgins as a late-round flier with upside. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [SF - Nick Bosa likely to stage hold-in with no deal]() Source: The Red Zone San Francisco 49ers DE Nick Bosa is likely to a stage a 'hold-in' during training camp if the two sides don't reach a long-term extension, according to The Mercury News' Cam Inman. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Per NFL Network's Ian Rapoport (reported months ago), Bosa wants to be the highest-paid defender in the league. He's set to play out 2023 on the fifth-year option, but he wants much more than that. According to OverTheCap.com, the 49ers have around $9.6 million in cap space. We'll see if they make the room to get Bosa a big-money deal that should make him the highest-paid defender (and for good reason) in the NFL. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [100% Deposit Match Up To $100 At Underdog Fantasy]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [] [] 9. [DET - Opponents brought the heat on Jared Goff in 2022](=) Source: ProFootballReference.com Detroit Lions QB Jared Goff was blitzed a league-high 186 times in 2022, according to Pro Football Reference. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Teams tried to rattle Goff in 2022, but he still had near career-high numbers in his second season as the Lions' starter. Lions OC Ben Johnson does a great job of keeping things quick for Goff to read. He's getting rid of the ball and getting passes to his playmakers before the pressure gets to him. That's why he was only sacked 23 times despite getting blitzed more than any quarterback in the league. We'll see if defenses take a different strategy with Goff in 2023. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [TEN - Three Titans battling for RB3]() Source: TennesseeTitans.com - Jim Wyatt Tennessee Titans RBs Hassan Haskins, Julius Chestnut and Jonathan Ward will battle for the RB3 spot, and the team is likely to keep two of the three backs. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] In dynasty formats, we'll watch this battle. Rookie RB Tyjae Spears is in line to be the primary backup to Derrick Henry in 2023.
