[SF - Brock Purdy can begin throwing next week](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport San Francisco 49ers QB Brock Purdy (elbow) will be allowed to begin throwing 'sometime next week,' according to head coach Kyle Shanahan on Tuesday, May 23. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Purdy seems to be advancing at a good rate as he recovers from elbow surgery that gave him an internal brace (he avoided Tommy John surgery). 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said he expects Purdy to be ready for training camp. That means Purdy could be ready for Week 1 as the team's starter. They also have an improving Trey Lance in camp to compete for the no.1 job. Veteran Sam Darnold (who Shanahan has loved for some time) was added this offseason to give them experience at the position. Purdy's status and Lance's improvement are things to watch in 49ers camp during the summer. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [NYG - RB Breida 'Safe' No.2 Behind Barkley?]( Source: Charlotte Carroll - The Athletic Charlotte Carroll, from The Athletic, reports New York Giants RB Matt Breida may be the 'safe no.2 option' behind starter Saquon Barkley. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Fantasy GMs need to watch this situation behind Barkley. Breida is there with his speed, receiving ability, and veteran experience. He could win the primary backup job, but he'll have to beat out fifth-round rookie RB Eric Gray. We like Gray's compact style as a runner, but he'll have to prove himself in pass protection in order to earn playing time. Watch this battle in training camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NFL - Adrian Peterson not retiring yet]() Source: Fort Worth Star-Telegram - Clarence E. Hill Jr. Free-agent RB Adrian Peterson (Seahawks) is not ready to retire yet but will do so if he doesn't land with a team in 2023, he said on Tuesday, May 23. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Peterson is bound for the Pro Football Hall of Fame five years after his playing days are officially done. He last played for the Seahawks in late 2021, and Peterson did not find a spot to play in 2022. We'll see if some team wants to bring in the 38-year old veteran. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [NO - TE Moreau a Full Participant at OTAs](=) Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams Charean Williams, from ProFootballTalk.com, reports New Orleans Saints TE Foster Moreau is a full participant at OTAs this week. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A couple of weeks ago, Saints HC Dennis Allen said he hoped Moreau would be ready for OTAs and here we are. Moreau was diagnosed with Hodgkin's Lymphoma a couple of months ago, and some felt he would have to miss the 2023 season. Instead, Moreau is not limited during OTAs and getting ready to earn his spot on the depth chart. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [WAS - Armani Rogers has torn Achilles']( Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating an earlier report, Washington Commanders TE Armani Rogers (Achilles') had an MRI confirm a torn Achilles', and he's out indefinitely. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Rogers will now have surgery to repair the injury. Rogers, undrafted out of Ohio in 2022, was a quarterback in college who converted to the tight end position. Much like Washington did with Logan Thomas, they were hoping Rogers could follow a similar path (as Thomas was a quarterback in college too). [CHI - Darnell Mooney still rehabbing ankle injury]() Source: The Athletic - Kevin Fishbain Chicago Bears WR Darnell Mooney (ankle) is still 'progressing' from the season-ending ankle injury suffered in Week 12 last season, according to head coach Matt Eberflus. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Bears have no need to rush the speedy receiver back into action. The Bears' passing game should be more robust this year, and that's good news for pass-catchers like Mooney. There has been no discussion about a timetable for Mooney publicly, so we'll have to wait and see if he's ready for the start of training camp. Stay tuned. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [BUF - Bills sign UDFA TE]() Source: BuffaloBills.com Undrafted free-agent TE Joel Wilson (Central Michigan) signed an undisclosed contract with the Buffalo Bills on Monday, May 22. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Wilson is a "move" tight end who knows how to cut a rug. He can get open with guile, and he also has a nose for the end zone. Wilson had 82 career receptions for 874 yards with 12 touchdowns during his time with the Chippewas. An ankle injury suffered in 2022 caused Wilson to fall out of the draft. However, the Bills should see him as a developmental prospect which means we'll watch him in crazy deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [NYJ - Allen Lazard injury update](=) Source: Twitter Updating a previous report, New York Jets WR Allen Lazard (groin) left the field with a trainer after taking a shot to the groin during organized team activities Tuesday, May 23. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] As Officer Barbrady says on South Park, "Nothing to see here people!" Lazard returned to the field later in the day to take part in 7-on-7 drills and pronounced himself '100 percent' afterward. In fact, Lazard took to Twitter to say that he got hit "in the gonads." [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [100% Deposit Match Up To $100 At Underdog Fantasy]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [IND - Kaden Smith signs with Colts](=) Source: ESPN - Adam Schefter Free-agent TE Kaden Smith (Giants) signed an undisclosed deal with the Indianapolis Colts Wednesday, May 24. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Smith has flashed a bit during his pro career, and he's a player we've been monitoring in super deep dynasty formats. A sixth-round pick out of Stanford in the 2019 NFL draft, Smith did show some skill during his rookie season. He had 31 catches in 2019, but only three catches in 2021. The Giants waived him with a failed physical designation last March, and he failed to find a spot on a roster for the 2022 season. The Colts have a lot of talent in their tight end room, so Smith is likely angling for a spot on the practice squad. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [NYJ - Jets sign UDFA wide receiver]() Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson Undrafted free-agent WR Jerome Kapp (Kutztown) signed an undisclosed contract with the New York Jets on Wednesday, May 24, per source. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Kapp was one of the most productive players in Kutztown history, finishing his career with 122 catches, 2,190 yards, and 22 touchdowns in 36 games. He's got a nice size/speed combination, and Kapp could be a downfield target if he makes it in the NFL. We'll monitor him but only in super crazy deep dynasty formats. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 11. [BAL - Mike Thomas separates shoulder](=) Source: The 33rd Team - Ari Meirov Baltimore Ravens WR Mike Thomas (shoulder) suffered a separated shoulder during organized team activities on Wednesday, May 24, and it could require surgery, head coach John Harbaugh said. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] We'll know more about this injury situation when the team reveals more information. It's not a good sign for the veteran's chances of making the team. Thomas is in a packed room with the Ravens, and he was a long-shot to make the roster.
