In Superflex dynasty leagues, the search for quarterbacks should always be a priority. Jordan McNamara has a way to help you sort through backup quarterbacks. [] INSIDE THIS ISSUE 1. [] 1. [CLE - No Cleveland reunion for Kareem Hunt?]( Source: 850 ESPN - Tony Grossi Free-agent RB Kareem Hunt's (Browns) potential return to the Cleveland Browns is 'not in the cards,' according to beat writer Tony Grossi. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Browns backfield will look different this year behind starter Nick Chubb. Hunt is still available in free agency, D'Ernest Johnson signed with the Jaguars this offseason, and the Browns will have a competition to establish a pecking order. Jerome Ford should win the no.2 job, but Demetric Felton is also there to work as a pass-catching running back or slot receiver. Hunt is now left to wait for his opportunity which could come (most likely not with the Browns) when injuries hit in camp. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [PHI - D'Andre Swift could receive extension]() Source: ESPN.com - Jeremy Fowler The Philadelphia Eagles may consider signing RB D'Andre Swift to a short-term extension, according to ESPN.com's Jeremy Fowler. He is scheduled to become a free agent in 2024. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Earlier this year, the Eagles acquired Swift from the Lions for a 2025 fourth-round pick (and the two teams swapped 2023 seventh-round picks). With the Eagles, Swift can work in an RBBC with Rashaad Penny. Swift has always had a decent nose for the end zone, and his pass-catching ability makes him an RB2/flex play for Fantasy GMs out there. We'll know more about his role when training camp gets here, but the Eagles may want to extend him so he's more than a rental for the 2023 season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [JAX - Tank Bigsby eyeing backup role?](=) Source: SI.com - John Shipley Jacksonville Jaguars RB Tank Bigsby had a good rookie minicamp and has the 'inside track to the No. 2 running back job,' according to John Shipley of SI.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] It seems like we get a steady stream of news about Bigsby, and that's something to get your attention. He's certainly turned heads at rookie minicamp, and Bigsby is working to be the team's no.2 RB behind starter Travis Etienne. Bigsby has a three-down skill set, but mainly he can make plays in space as a runner or receiver out of the backfield. [] 4. [NFL - Ty Johnson reveals injury]( Source: ESPN.com - Rich Cimini Free-agent RB Ty Johnson (pectoral) said he suffered a torn pectoral muscle while working out and underwent surgery. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] A sixth-round pick (Lions) out of Maryland in the 2019 NFL draft, Johnson was signed by the Jets in March as veteran depth. He was waived with an NFI designation, and Johnson is expected to miss the 2023 season. However, he should be ready to resume playing football in 2024. It's a young man's game (especially at running back), so we'll see if Johnson gets a team interested in his services next offseason. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [JAX - Elijah Cooks stars in red zone](=) Source: SI.com - John Shipley Jacksonville Jaguars WR Elijah Cooks had a 'very impressive' rookie minicamp and was able to create separation for easy targets in the red zone, according to John Shipley of SI.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Cooks originally began his college career at Nevada. He flashed at times for the Wolf Pack, but injuries held him out of quite a bit of action in his junior and senior years. Cooks transferred to San José State where as a fifth-year senior he played 11 games and had 64 catches for 993 yards for an average of 15.5 yards per catch, and 10 touchdowns. He's a big-bodied target who is proven to be a reliable target no matter the quarterback throwing him the ball. We'll watch him in crazy deep dynasty formats. [JAX - Kevin Austin shines at rookie camp](=) Source: SI.com - John Shipley Jacksonville Jaguars WR Kevin Austin was the 'most impressive player' and a 'revelation' at rookie minicamp, according to John Shipley of SI.com. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The former Notre Dame wide receiver was absolutely dynamic when healthy in college. Injuries did hold him back with the Fighting Irish, and Austin had two surgeries on his left foot (forcing him to miss the 2020 season). He has a great size/speed combination, and Austin can make almost-impossible catches seem routine. Undrafted in 2022, Austin has been on the Jaguars' practice squad developing his game. He is certainly a player to monitor in deep dynasty formats as the natural skill is there for him to be a playmaker if he can work his way up the depth chart.
