[PIT - Mitchell Trubisky staying put](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Pittsburgh Steelers QB Mitchell Trubisky agreed to terms on a two-year contract extension Thursday, May 18. Financial terms of the deal were not immediately disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Steelers are keeping things as they were in 2022 with QB Kenny Pickett as their starter and Trubisky as their primary backup. They'll keep that in place, and now it's up to Pickett to continue to grow and develop as a pro passer. Trubisky won't see the field unless Pickett struggles mightily or gets banged up. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 2. [PIT - Mason Rudolph officially re-signed](=) Source: NFL.com Free-agent QB Mason Rudolph (Steelers) signed a one-year contract with the Pittsburgh Steelers Wednesday, May 17. Financial terms were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Here we go again. Rudolph has some starting experience, but he stays with the Steelers to be the no.3 quarterback at best. Kenny Pickett continues as their starter, and veteran Mitchell Trubisky is there as the primary backup. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 3. [NFL - Stars would have to align for Matt Ryan]( Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport Updating previous reports, free-agent QB Matt Ryan (Colts) said the stars would have to align for him to return to playing in the NFL, but he's not shutting any doors. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That's fine and dandy, but the chances of that happening seem to be slim. Ryan was outstanding during most of his time with the Falcons, but that was then and this is now. Last year for the Colts, Ryan was benched in favor of guys like Sam Ehlinger and Nick Foles. He's simply not the player he used to be, and what he is today is veteran backup level at best. Perhaps something opens up, but we see Ryan staying in the broadcasting booth (and we hope he's pretty good in there). [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 4. [LAR - Rams re-sign two]() Source: KPRC.com - Aaron Wilson Free-agent WR Tyler Hudson (Rams) and free-agent DB Jaiden Woodbey (Rams) re-signed with the Los Angeles Rams Wednesday, May 17. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] The Rams bring back both after waiving them just a couple of days ago. Hudson was added as an undrafted free agent after the 2023 NFL draft. In 2022, Hudson had 1,034 yards and two touchdowns on 69 receptions at Lousiville after transferring from Central Arkansas. He's a downfield target with good ball-tracking ability. Hudson is clearly on the roster bubble, so he's angling for a spot on the practice squad if he can stick this time around. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 5. [CLE - A Plan for RB Ford?](=) Source: Zack Jackson - The Athletic Zac Jackson, from the Athletic, reports the Cleveland Browns plan for second-year RB Jerome Ford could be to see the action he's ready for behind starting RB Nick Chubb. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] That plan sounds...interesting...to say the least. Earlier this year, Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said he was "very encouraged" by Ford and said "he is capable" of earning the no.2 running back spot. Without Kareem Hunt, we could just see Chubb get more work. We don't think Ford is a 1-for-1 replacement to Hunt, but we'll be watching the Browns' backfield closely in training camp and the preseason. [TEN - Tennessee adds Alize Mack]() Source: Click2Houston.com - Aaron Wilson Free-agent TE Alize Mack (Packers) signed with the Tennessee Titans Wednesday, May 17. Terms of the contract were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Mack was a seventh-round pick of the Saints back in the 2019 NFL draft when he came out of Notre Dame. Since then, he's bounced around to five other teams in the NFL and he's coming off a 2023 stint with the XFL with the San Antonio Brahmas. Mack has always been an "F" tight end who can attack a defense as a receiver. He had 28 catches for 230 yards and one touchdown for the Brahmas in nine games this season. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 7. [GB - Tucker Kraft under contract](=) Source: Packers.com Green Bay Packers third-round draft choice TE Tucker Kraft signed a four-year contract with the Packers Wednesday, May 17. Financial terms were not disclosed. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Kraft was the second tight end the Packers picked this year in the draft (Luke Musgrave, Oregon State, was their second-round pick). Coming out of South Dakota State, Kraft has soft hands and knows how to use his frame to keep defenders away from the ball. Kraft has the versatility to line up in-line, from the outside, or from the slot. He's not a burner and needs to learn how to run better routes in order to play up to his potential in the pros. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 8. [NYG - Deonte Banks signs rookie deal](=) Source: NFL Network - Ian Rapoport New York Giants first-round pick CB Deonte Banks signed a four-year, $13.6 million fully guaranteed deal Thursday, May 18. All first-round picks receive fifth-year options. [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Banks was seen as one of the top corners in this draft, and that's why the Giants made him their first-round pick. He has a great size/speed combination, and Banks closes on the ball quickly with his elite click-and-close ability. His size and strength make him an outstanding tackler, and he's got no problem supporting the run defense. Banks needs to be more of a ballhawk (only two career interceptions) in order to play up to his draft status in the pros. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [100% Deposit Match Up To $100 At Underdog Fantasy]( --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 9. [DAL - WR Gallup Feeling 'Springy' Again](=) Source: ProFootballTalk.com - Charean Williams Charean Williams, from ProFootballTalk.com, reports Dallas Cowboys WR Michael Gallup said he's "very confident" he can return to the player he was prior to suffering a torn ACL in January 2022. Gallup said Wednesday, via 105.3 The Fan. "My knee was feeling sore, and it was just different. Last year at this time, I couldn't walk. It's different now. I feel springy again. It just feels different. It's kind of like in the air. I'm smiling every time I walk in that facility." [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Gallup did not look like himself last year as he was trying to play less than a year removed from that ACL injury. In 14 games, Gallup was targeted 74 times and caught 39 passes for 424 yards on four touchdowns. His WR2 season of 2019 is far in the past, and the Cowboys brought in WR Brandin Cooks for more firepower behind superstar CeeDee Lamb. We'll see if and how much Gallup can bounce back in 2023. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- [] 10. [IND - TE Granson Fighting for a Roster Spot?](=) Source: Zac Keefer - The Athletic Zac Keefer, from The Athletic, reports Indianapolis Colts TE Kylen Granson could be "fighting for a roster spot." [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ [ FOOTBALLGUYS VIEW ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] ] Things change quickly around here. Granson was a fourth-round pick of the Colts out of Southern Methodist in 2021, and he's an intriguing target as a move tight end. Now, he's perhaps on the roster bubble as the Colts have a packed room. We'll see how the position shakes out in training camp. Mo Alie-Cox and Jelani Woods are interesting targets with upside, and we had rookie TE Will Mallory as one of our favorite sleepers in this deep tight end class. Granson will need to stay healthy and impress more than before to earn a role. [Back to Top](#top) --------------------------------------------------------------- That'll do it for today, Folks.
